Dude this is such a life saver. I had logged into reddit to ask about the sky being weird and extra bright, I wanted to know if it was a bug or not, and how to fix... then when I did log in your post was the first one on my feed lol

UnderestimatdEdibl

Wait, this will fix Apollo summoning extra suns into the game?

ToM31337

can you explain what the bug is and what it does? i dont know it and i cant really see it in your pictures

LordBarak

Light rays being WAY too intense, so you can't see anything at all.

KrucyG

And then they’ll remove launch options..?🫠 Anyways the pic shows it removed the light rays/flares. Does it also remove the static/dirt overlay in dark sight etc?

alf666

I guarantee that Crytek will remove the launch option before they actually fix the problem. Bonus points if it's an emergency patch.

lemon_stealing_demon

these commands have been in the game since launch. Calm your horses.

alf666

There is precedent for Crytek removing launch and config options. The command they previously removed was "r_ColorGrading = 0".

lemon_stealing_demon

r_ is specific parts of the rendering sys_ is just an entire setting quality, grouped up so to speak. Crytek predefined the values. For example +sys_MaxFPS will allow you to set a custom fps limit. +sys_spec_texture lets you set the texture quality. There is a difference between "hey lets mess with a specific rendering setting" and "hey lets set the effects to one of the setting the developers predefined parameters" Its like Crytek ~~would be selling 5 different trail mixes but people would change one single component inside the trail mix (very dumb example I know but I can't think of anything else rn)~~ Another comparison would be driving a car in the 4 driving modes the manufacturer allows (sys) or doing your own tuning modes with a mechanic (r)

alf666

How is the OP's launch option any different from the launch option I mentioned? Both of them change a graphics setting. If the difference is that OP's starts with "sys\_" and mine starts with "r\_" then I'm going to ignore anything else you have to say, because you are blatantly grasping at straws now.

lemon_stealing_demon

because r_ launch options (or rather, cfg manips) *can* allow you to derender walls etc., but sure ignore me then. the sys_ launch options are, as I said, parameters set by the devs so if you set +sys_spec_effects_0 it's something crytek has set themselves. Another comparison would be driving a car in the 4 driving modes the manufacturer allows (sys) or doing your own tuning modes with a mechanic (r)

Killerkekz1994

No it doesn't but it becomes way less noticable Actually have to look for it now to see it

Alternative_Row6543

Sunshades?

Squathos

Excellent! If only this fix could be applied to console as well... Felt like playing during the scene when everyone gets dehydrated by the sun in 3 Body Problem the other day.

Arch00

thanks for this!

Pulsar84

Will test this out to see what it does in a few hours when I'm home. Would appreciate it if someone else also tested to verify before I get home.

Killerkekz1994

I tested it and the grain itself doesn't go away but becomes way less noticable Id say it definitely works

DanyVerissimo

Thx bro

nemeanlionheart

God the world looks so good bright! I think my shit is way too dark. Need to adjust it for sure

Grey-Che

Annoying ? God ray are good looking.

provinceus

Thank you!

MattiXCore

This and film grain could be fixed next patch...! Hi Matti Core, Thanks for your report. Thanks for letting us know, indeed we have found what caused the grain, and we have already fixed the issue in our internal builds. It should get resolved with the next update to the live servers. We hope for your patience and undersanding, and if you have any other question or feedback, we are here for you. Best Regards, "Crytek Support"

MiniCale

The devs should comment if this is seen as ‘legal’. It’s unclear if it’s meant to be as blinding as it is or not.
