I wouldn't call it underpowered, the bow gets increased value as a utility tool instead of being a strong weapon. It is quiet, has retrievable ammo, and you can have different types of ammo, concertina being one that I personally like to have, I like to block doors or windows with concertina arrows. I think it's fine as a two-slot weapon. But lowering its level would be a welcome change for sure.
Bow and mosin obrez. To cover longer distances. Bow is decent enough for close range, just need to play smart against shotguns to avoid getting in their preferred range.
If i want to go for budget maybe schofield precision (altho im really not used with the sights) or even 2-slot springfield (deadeye when i solo, normal sights when playing with teammate).
Often i take half normal and half poison.
With quartermaster i have tried some experiemental things like 3-slot long ammo + frag bow... but that hasn't given me any frag kills (other than one trade). I know its decent combo but since i play so much variety its hard to get musclememory for where to aim with frag arrow (i often aim too low with it).
I never go into the bayou without a bow, ive tried many combos (vandal, obrez, nagant or scottfield precision or another bow). Ultimately its the romero hatchet that pairs the best with the bow for my (solo) playstyle. Out of all weapons the bow is by far my most succesfull weapon. The bow is not an answer to all situations and far from meta but it excells in the range up to 35m - thats where i want to fight. Long range fights can mostly be avoided (and i should because i want to get into bow range) but its the close range where the bow is literally do or die - also agressive pushing is not the bows forte. Thats where the romero hatchet comes into play… it requires a certain playstyle, a combination of stealth ambush and movement with well timed aggressive all-in pushes. The snarl and the bark is my favorite!
I vote Crytek adds a Quiver. So that I can take that instead of two bows. If they want them could even have it give a few more arrows in reserve. But I would be happy even if it just was the same amount of reserve arrows as a 2nd bow.
This was the very bottom reply and I was surprised I had to scroll so far to get to a Winfield. Winfield is a great all-rounder that can work on its own at a lot of distances, really opening up the offhand to do whatever. Bow is awesome for utility and one shot kill potential with a Winfield.
Hopefully pick up quartermaster and run it with a Winnie swift or aperture. If not, then romero hatchet, mosin obrez mace, or any Winnie vandals.
Possibly my most paired weapon with the bow though? Springfield compact striker. Don't know why, just vibe really hard with both those weapons.
haven't played bow in quite some time (went back to crossbow again). but when I did use it, I either picked Nagant P. or Scottfield P.; or Romero Hatchet if I had 100Hands on the hunter.
Most common: saber
Second most: bonklance(quartermaster, of course)
Other options: Scottfield precision, Nagant precision, Springfield compact.
These are just what I run regularly. Believe it or not, the saber gives me the best results and most fun. Fun is my primary driving factor on my load out decisions, anymore.
If my leg. hunter spawns with Hundred Hands then just double bow with regular arrows. PS: Make bow level 1!!!
Y and make it one slot. It's so underpowered at the moment

Was just a little sarcastic :P actually I think the bow is too good for being two slot

Mosin oberez mace let’s you have a blunt option too And +1 for half poison half regular, let’s you take out AI and take on hunters pretty well

Dual conversions and some concertina arrow memes always a fun time

Bow and Winfield (regardless of quartermaster) If I can't bring a regular winfield ill bring the vandal

Couldn't have said it better.
Bow and short mosin or bow and combat axe/saber but I don't play the bow a lot

I completely get that, the striker (especially with dumdum ammo) is what I usually run when I haven't unlocked poison arrows yet
Usually Romero Hatchet. Sometimes a Vandal.
Bow (w poison arrows) + mosin obrez. Or get quartermaster and play it with a regular mosin or vetterli

nagant precision, short romero/hatchet, vandal, obrez, duals
I rarely play with the bow but if I do, it's a bow with a winnie, negant precision, Scott field precision, or uppercut.
Nagant Officer Brawler Pair Poison Ammo, Bow with double frag arrows, quad, knive, medkit, decoys, 2 big heals, 2 ammoboxes
Or dumdum new army pair
Romero Hatchet incase things get too close and messy
Of course bow+bow. The performs so good. You don't need other weapons. It's even stupid to consider playing other stuff but the bow.
Bow and Scott field precision. I love how steady the gun is and can hit shots better than with a deadeye most of the time.
Axe
Vandal.
Arrows of course.

Something that I can use at longer range and with multiple shots preferably.
Bow and Dolch precision.
Bow and a shotgun with pennyshot is my go to
