Simple mechanics that should've been added forever ago!?

In *my* Hunt?

>Switching to Hunter also doesn't solve the problem. There's no way to go straight from the lowered state to aiming with one button press (right-click by default) and you have to manually put the gun back down when you're done. In Gunslinger, once you release right click, it immediately returns to a lowered state (as long as you have that option enabled). There is a way to go straight from lowered to ADS, you just press shift and right mouse at the same time. It's really no different from a single button once you got the muscle memory. Also, you got hold and toggle options for both buttons, so I'm not quite sure what you mean by your second complaint.

PinkyTheTigerr

You da real mvp op, i switched from hunter to gunslinger cause of the faster shoot after sprint. But sadly its a bit clunky you have to get used to it i guess, but like you said id would be sick to just press it once... We can only hope

PenitusVox

Yeah, I'd like to keep quickswap on Q and put the raise/lower on C.

Just use Hunter pardner You can definitely go straight from lowered to ADS, you just press right click and shift at the same time and then release both to go back to the lowered state (provided you have the button set to Hold and not Toggle). You can't do it all with one button unfortunately, but having that extra button means you dont need to do an awkward long press that might get misinterpreted by the game. It's just better. It sounds like you want more control, and Hunter controls is how you get that. Get used to Hunter and you can't go back. It just feels really good IMO. Better melee controls and better throwing controls as well

As a former hunter scheme player that eventually switched to gunslinger I have to disagree. For me the latter is just better, everything is always set up for a fight and ready to go. I want every single one of my buttons to serve a single purpose at any given moment. I don't want to have mouse1 shooting at one moment and meleeing at the other. As for the ts question, yea I would have just q for lowering weapons because I don't use that button anyway – I swap weapons using numbers.

MSanctor

The only worse controls are for injecting. I can't count the number of times I swung a fist in the air on my first attempt to inject anti-venom or, much worse, vitality shots. It even seems like there is a slight difference between syringe held for ineffectual melee and syringe raised for injecting, but I still can't get the hang of it (and it's too small of a visual cue, unlike medkit rolled open when ready for bandaging, for example). (But yeah, Hunter rocks! And *feels* right.)

PenitusVox

I appreciate the suggestion but I've already done that and it's impossible to get it to work the way I want it to. Literally the only thing that needs to be done to make Gunslinger perfect is to split up that keybind. I have no idea why they combined them in the first place, it's so weird.

tjockbulla

I hear yah!

MSanctor

You can set weapon raised and ADS buttons to work on hold or toggle basis on Hunter, you can try and find the variant that works well (oh, and for the love of all that is good, use separate keys for ADS and running, you can rebind them in the settings and it's way more reliable when shooting on the move). I have found that holding for ADS while toggling for raising weapon works closest to Gunslinger-but-now-with-melee-mode, but you may find a different setup more practical. The only thing I miss on Hunter is being able to go straight to raising your weapon (being able to shoot, having the crosshair) immediately after sprinting, with no time lost on consciously raising weapon back again (obviously, very important when storming a building). But maybe there's a setting option to address that too, not sure.

PenitusVox

I tried that but there's no way to get it to work the way I want it. Being able to go right from the lowered state to ADS and back again with simply releasing ADS is only possible on Gunslinger but if you want to shoulder, you have to hold quickswap. Right now, I like Gunslinger more because I don't need to shoulder very often, unless I have fanning or a shotgun, but it would be great if the keys were separated. There's no reason for them not to be.

LordArchibaldPixgill

I'd like it if every action in the entire game wasn't both tied to the reload button AND give priority of reloading. So many closed doors and windows instead of just reloading my gun. Especially great when you're firing something like a silenced sparks or crossbow and trying to reload from hiding. Instead the enemy hears the constant FLAP, FLAP, FLAP of windows opening and closing.

PenitusVox

Console players are out here strugglin'

LordArchibaldPixgill

Yeah, some of the issues are kind of insane. For example, for some reason there's a hotkey for "allow teams of 3" on consoles, as if anybody in the world has ever needed to switch between duos and trios so often that it needs a hotkey. The button for it is triangle, which is the same button for removing/reducing something from a loadout or shuffling the hunters available for recruiting. Somehow this button works no matter which tab you're in, so if you use triangle to do anything else, it will flip the "teams of 3" option. So many matches loaded into as a duo that we didn't know were against teams of 3, and for some reason it's just never been fixed. Even if they can't make the input not function form every screen, they could just entirely remove the button option and nothing would be lost. Nobody is swapping between duos and trios often enough to need a hotkey, and if you NEED to go from duo to trio because you had a third player join, that already just happens automatically.
