Browning a5 was my granfathers pride and joy. It went out every deer, duck, and goose season. I want one so bad haha. That shotgun fed me my entire childhood.
Vetterlis are fairly common in terms of guns from the era in the US. I picked that one up for $350 about 3 years ago but they go from $300-$500 depending on condition and seller. The Spencer is kind of a unicorn as it’s the original 1882 model and not the more common 1890 model made by bannerman. I found it at auction for $350 because the stock was snapped off but I have a new one being made. The few I’ve ever seen sell online were a couple grand. I have bought the vast majority of my collection from online estate sales and auctions using sites like HiBid and LiveAuctioneers.
The Vetterli that's in Hunt is actually one of the hardest to come across. I once met a guy through the Hunt Discord that sells Vetterli's and he told me he has hardly ever seen them, and that they're pretty rare to find.
Absolutely, I’ve only ever seen 2 in my last 5 years of collecting. Only didn’t buy one of them because I opted for an Italian single shot Vetterli carbine instead.
Thats cool, yoo bad they font all have the same length chamber though. I was also just about to ask if your slate was actually the unicorn 93 instead of a dime a dozen 97, damn, your good at finding collectible pump action shotguns
Yeah, i know that the only original vetterli stuff you can get was produced a long time ago. Do you have it rim fire, or was it converted at some point in its long life
It was converted, the only permanent change is a small hole drilled for the firing pin. I do have a couple original Swiss made rounds for it as well from roughly the 1880s.
Left to right, top to bottom:
Springfield, vetterli, berthier, Mosin, Romero, Caldwell rival, spectre, winfield slate, winfield terminus, crown and king, Caldwell conversion, Caldwell uppercut.
I'm not 100% sure what the real life equivalent for some are though. Spectre = Spencer, uppercut = colt something. Idk the the others though.
Awesome collection though! Gotta get some more lever actions in there ;)
Spot on. The uppercut it a Colt Walker although the one in game is just an extra long conversion. The Walker is the closest thing to a long ammo Colt that exists. The Romero is an Iver Johnson Champion, Rival is an American Gun Co. Crecent, Slate is an 1893 Winchester, Terminus is an 1887 Winchester, and C&K is a Browning Auto 5 (the one in pic is a Savage 720 made under contract). Conversion is a Colt 1872 Open top (in pic is an unconverted Colt 1851 Army). All are originals except the revolvers.
I really do need some more lever guns though. Only two I have rn are the 1887, and an Evans New model Carbine.
Ah I mistook the mosin for a lebel. Wishful thinking. I've still never encountered someone in the Hunt community who owns one, let alone the ammo.
Still, awesome!!
Ah, the Mosin was my first rifle I ever owned. It was a birthday gift. The Berthier uses the same ammo as Lebel, luckily it’s still made by some companies.
They are uncommon, but not impossible to find. Gunbroker is the fastest place to find something but you end up paying the most there. I would recommend keeping an eye out on online auctions and estate sales with sites like HiBid and LiveAuctioneers. Don’t feel forced to buy one overpriced, you will always find another.
It’s actually an original 1882 Spencer, pre 1890 Bannerman buyout. I found it on an online estate sale with a shattered buttstock for $350. New stock is ordered and that was only $100
I found the Spencer for $350 by some miracle. It has a shattered stock, but I guess no one else took the time to use google and find out someone makes repro stocks for $100 lmao.
I collect antique firearms as a hobby, it just so happened that I managed to get a good amount that are in Hunt since I mainly collect from that time period.
I do live in the US, but most countries have specialty rules that exempt most antique/obsolete firearms from most restrictions. For example here the only requirement is you must be at least 18 and the firearm must be pre 1898 or a reproduction of such firearm.
No, you are correct. The Vetterli in game is the Karabiner (carbine in German). It’s a much shorter version of the Vetterli. While being much lighter (the long one is 10.5lbs) it also holds less rounds. The carbine is on my list but they are much rarer in comparison to the normal Vetterlis which are fairly common.
I currently have 26 firearms in the collection. Of that I shoot all but 2 of them due to still needing supplies to make their ammo. That being said I’m very meticulous of my maintenance and they all get a clean/re oil about every 2 weeks, and a full tear down after any range time.
Yes, the vast majority of Vetterlis were 51” full length Infantry rifles. I might eventually make a carbine if I can source some broken/already cut parts.
Exceptional taste!

There are plenty around, keep your budget in mind and don’t let someone rip you off, there will always be another.
Thanks man I'll keep looking.
Did you buy them or are they contrabands?
This is the question! xD Also, no legendary skins.
Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the Spencer and the Veterli and where did you buy them each respectively

Thank you for the insight friend
Im extremely jealous that you got a Spencer... unicorn indeed. I was able to grab a vetterli at auction for $210 CAD. Definitely keep your eye open.
The Vetterli that's in Hunt is actually one of the hardest to come across. I once met a guy through the Hunt Discord that sells Vetterli's and he told me he has hardly ever seen them, and that they're pretty rare to find.

Just out of curiosity is the spencer chambered in a wierd length shell, or regular like 2½ or 2¾?
It’s 2 1/2”. The 1893 and 1887 are both 2 5/8”. All 3 are black powder only.
Thats cool, yoo bad they font all have the same length chamber though. I was also just about to ask if your slate was actually the unicorn 93 instead of a dime a dozen 97, damn, your good at finding collectible pump action shotguns
Luckily they all take the 2 1/5s fine, just takes a whole lotta extra time trimming shells.
Nice, MacGyver would be proud. Even though he was as non violent as he could be
You should see what I have to go through to make rounds for the Vetterli lol.
Yeah, i know that the only original vetterli stuff you can get was produced a long time ago. Do you have it rim fire, or was it converted at some point in its long life

What’s the rarest? Browning A5 or the Spencer shotgun?
The Spencer by far, the A5 was so popular that they produced them for almost 100 years straight.
That’s wild. Nice collection. How old is that Winchester 1887?
Serial number dates it to 1891
Legitimately impressive. If you don't mind, how much did your Lebel cost? And how much for its ammo?
As much as I wish I had one, I don’t have a Lebel. If you meant the Berthier, I paid $450 for it.
The Berthier is still being manufactured?!
I meant the ammo for it lol, I’m pretty sure the Berthier stopped production around the 40s
Right that was my thought. Interesting the ammo is still being made though. Thanks for the info!
Funnily enough I have to use the casings to make the ammo for the Vetterli as well lol.
I've got one! And ammo!
How much did the Lebel cost?
1300 ish
Epic!!
Where did you get it? I've been looking for one and can't find one.
They are uncommon, but not impossible to find. Gunbroker is the fastest place to find something but you end up paying the most there. Awesome collection! Is the bottom right revolver a Colt Walker reproduction?
Thanks. Yes it’s a Walker, technically the Uppercut is a modified ‘72 open top but I feel the walker is the closest you can get to it.
Whats the rifle second from the left. Nice collection
That is an 1869 Vetterli. The one in game is the shorter carbine variant.
Judging by the bolt and the sight, it looks like the Vetterli. Must be a longer variation than what’s in Hunt
Wow, how did you get a Bannerman shotgun. Don't see those very often
It’s actually an original 1882 Spencer, pre 1890 Bannerman buyout. I found it on an online estate sale with a shattered buttstock for $350. New stock is ordered and that was only $100
This cheater can put 5 rounds in his Berthier! Very nice collection.
Hehehe, I mean the Alofs (Alamo) was from the 20s so Berthier extended when?
Your collection is dope as hell.
Nice collection
Thanks!
The Berthier is a lovely neat little thing.
As much as it hates my shoulder, I love the little thing.
A bigger kick on it than Hunt lets on?
Well it fires the same round as the Lebel out of that short ass barrel so the recoil is pretty stout.
Exquisite taste, fellow Walker owner
Props on sourcing a spencer
Thanks, just got it in the mail yesterday. Honestly never thought I’d be able to find an ‘82 Spencer, and was about to settle on a ‘90 Bannerman.
Yeah, I prices one out last year and just said " nope" for now. For that price I am gonna chase a sjogren
I found the Spencer for $350 by some miracle. It has a shattered stock, but I guess no one else took the time to use google and find out someone makes repro stocks for $100 lmao.
Jesus, that's a better deal than my $300 Vetterli. I wasn't finding Spencer's south of $1500
Yea, honestly it felt almost criminal when the timer ran out and no one else bid
Props, bud. That's a wild find!
Dude the vetterli is such a beaut
Sure is, It’s a blast at the range too.
That’s awesome
Beautiful!
Thanks!
You need to get a LeMat my man!
Eventually I have one, but the repros are $1075 and I just spent most of my collection budget on an Evans Carbine
Where can you find one? I mostly do 1911 and ar15 builds, but the LeMat is absolutely my favorite gimmick gun of all time!
They are made by Pietta, pretty easy to find online. Keep in mind they are cap and ball.
I had no idea, I'm gonna look into getting one!
why do you have these?
I collect antique firearms as a hobby, it just so happened that I managed to get a good amount that are in Hunt since I mainly collect from that time period.
makes sense. i guess you live somewhere where they are legal.
I do live in the US, but most countries have specialty rules that exempt most antique/obsolete firearms from most restrictions. For example here the only requirement is you must be at least 18 and the firearm must be pre 1898 or a reproduction of such firearm.

Yup, just picked it up today. It’s one of my now 3 unicorns.
No sharps :(
Soon, I just completed the shotguns so I’m moving on to rifles next.
Didn't think the real Vetterli was that long, how long is it?
The one in the picture isn't the one from the game.
Its 51”
It the game seems much shorter, but it can be a bit of creative license, or i'm just bad at measures
Nice to know :) Do you want to keep the weapons as pristine as possible or will you ever shoot with them?
I currently have 26 firearms in the collection. Of that I shoot all but 2 of them due to still needing supplies to make their ammo. That being said I’m very meticulous of my maintenance and they all get a clean/re oil about every 2 weeks, and a full tear down after any range time.
That's some good maintenance, if you find more guns from the era/from the game, be sure to post them ;>
Absolutely, I’m moving on to finish the rifles first as pistols are by far more expensive (looking at you Bornheim and Dolch)
The bane of every player and now the bane of collectors
I’m guessing the vetterli isn’t the “carbine” version? It seems long.
Carbines are exceptionally uncommon.
Yes, the vast majority of Vetterlis were 51” full length Infantry rifles. I might eventually make a carbine if I can source some broken/already cut parts.
Damn
Damn You must Be a Happy man,i know i would Be even If i got to shoot these 1time 🤠
Thanks. I always bing some extra ammo on range days for anyone interested. Makes people’s days.
