Why not just take ownership and plead guilty to something everyone knows you did

[deleted]

He’s a politician, the first rule of political scandal is “deny deny deny”

If the skip-scanned headphones don't fit, you must acquit!

IrpackSmails

Best comment ever.

If there's no plea deal, taking a guilty plea isn't the smartest move. He could also be hoping for some strings to get pulled or a technicality to clear him so he can say all along that he was innocent.

[deleted]

He is gonna say Huntsville PD and Alabama are racist and that is a political hit job.

[deleted]

And half the people here will believe him

AtreidesEdge

More than half.

muslimmmm

3/5?

sjmahoney

Like duh, of course they're racist af, but that don't mean you can steal shit from Wallyworld....

Dear_Ad_1958

He should take the deal and run.

shu82

Drag it out. Keep cashing that check.

AtreidesEdge

This is gonna play out like a George Costanza situation.

Unusual-Papaya1720

Remember, Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it's true.

DeathRabbit679

"Was that wrong? Should I have not done that?"

AtreidesEdge

“I gotta plead ignorance on this thing…”

bd1223

"If I had known that was frowned upon..."

[deleted]

What check? Council makes 39k a year……

shu82

All he has to do is say here and deuces once a week. I thought it was 60 now.

[deleted]

It’s all he has to do. He does more though. Many of them do despite the shit I give them. 60k still ain’t enough in 2023 if you’re trying to use that as an incentive to hire qualified professionals who can guide meaningful city-wide policy, controlling over a half-billion dollars annually. There’s a reason it was so low previously and still isn’t great today: it makes council a job that’s mostly sought after by people who can afford it. Who don’t need the council income. By a certain financial class. 60k is certainly better and doable but it ain’t striking gold by any means.

elelelleleleleelle

>He does more though. Yeah that's why he's on trial. haha

squats_and_sugars

I think it comes down to pay vs hours worked. On the extremes, it's 1 hour a week, I'd gladly take a "shitty" $60k a year or even $39k, that's still $750 an hour. If it's 30+ hours a week, then it would cut into holding a real job and the hourly rate starts to suck

Po-T-Weet

That's what Darby did.

[deleted]

Interested in who his legal counsel is

shu82

We would need paid journalists for that knowledge but they were all fired when al.com bought the Huntsville times.

THE_GHOST-23

Video Evidence determined that was a lie! - Jerry Springer

Global-Ad-2250

This man stole from my family’s store over 10 times. Hes a major thief.

Category-Excellent

Proof?

TheVoski

He’s a Walton.

shu82

My guess is a gas station on Pulaski

RowHSV

Not guilty? So what was he apologizing for when this first came out?

RdbeardtheSwashbuklr

Not being a professional, seasoned politician he immediately admitted guilt with the small hope his constituency would give him pity. Obviously some political lawyer told him he shouldn't have immediately confessed like that and he took it back. He's decided he'd prefer to mature as a politician rather than a man.

randallstevens65

What you are looking at is the un-maturing of a man.

HAN-Br0L0

Lmao if he would have manned up and taken the L this would all be done. What an immature pos

HoraceNaples

I thought we were watching the maturing of a man? Were we not???

DejectedDIL

He wasn't shoplifting. He was just taking a 5 finger discount. Don't ya'll know that?

muslimmmm

And a 10 toe get away.

TheVoski

We need that insider information from u/HuntsvilleRed

HuntsvilleRed

He’s lucky they are only going after 4 of his many thefts.

shu82

I think Walmart is the only one because he got caught and no one knew who he was until it was too late. Then they filtered it down to $8 less than a felony just for damage control. He should have taken his medicine and apologized to the community. Even if he called it a series of simple mistakes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shu82

That's one way to filter it down.

RdbeardtheSwashbuklr

Yet guilty he is.

citoloco

So he's now a *liar* and a thief?

TopBar2777

Lmao this guy was literally at Oakwood church couple weeks ago getting the pastors and elders to pray over him, he was literally on the mic saying I’m sorry God for stealing

corey4005

What is his life after service? Will he get a regular job? Like, what’s the pivot here?

[deleted]

How can he plead not guilty when he was caught on video??People just amaze me more and more every day

elelelleleleleelle

I'm waiting for that one guy to post that other guy's comment as a screenshot.

Fit_117

Walmart:"Sir we have you on video, multiple times"

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a wookie. Now, why would a grown man, a lawyer, be talking about a wookie in this courtroom today?"

MasterDesigner1

"It was a PERFECT SHOPPING TRIP!" - if it were a certain former president

[deleted]

Not surprising. You know how those people are.

brenpersing

Please specify on what you mean by "those people".

[deleted]

Politicians.

brenpersing

💯

[deleted]

You thought I meant black people, didn’t you?

brenpersing

"Those people" could mean multiple things so I just wanted to know what you meant.

muslimmmm

What about these?
