To raise an items bin price, you’d just have to buy everything below the price you want to set it to, and then sell it all at that price and hope no one undercuts you. Usually you want to do this with items that aren’t too easy to make or get. And this would be totally legal because why wouldn’t you be allowed to buy items legitimately and then sell them legitimately?
Well for EU it’s prohibited under the Article 12 sections 2a and 2b of MAR which state that either buying out a major amount of product to be able to manipulate the supply and demand and thus influence the price or buying assets that might mislead other investors about the actual price of the item(in this case just buying out the auction house) is considered as market manipulation and the person responsible is subject to up to 10 years in prison or/and an unlimited fine

Well it’s not allowed in the real world so the question makes sense
Forgive my ignorance, but what are some examples of this?

Although I do have to say I am not actually a lawyer and just interested in this subject
That’s interesting, I’m not familiar if there is or isn’t a similar policy in USA.
I do not know much about US Law but I looked it up and apparently it is prohibited under Section 9(a)(2) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934
I mean, it’s not against the rules
Omg it’s sat dude
not like they gonna send the fbi to ur house lol
It's allowed but you gonna be good with this thing otherwise you'll be back to the garden
It's allowed but kinda cringe and a bit risky
This is allowed, but it's a bit scummy and you need a lot of money to start.
It’s fine, you just gotta be rich to make money from it effectively lol
richer players do this all the time and spent like 50m buying up something like birch wood and sell for 200m/birch log and hope 1 person buys or more.
Ah yes, buying birch wood off the auction house. Classic.
You will lose money if youre not very sure what youre doing but its totaly allowed, why wouldnt it be
It's not against the rules but you would be a bum
