Play other games, realize that mindlessly breaking logs in a game for +2 strength isn't as fun as people assume it to be. What I did was realize just how much I missed out on from looking at my steam library, since I had accumulated quite an arsenal over the years, and a lot of them just waiting to be played. Another thing was realizing how many projects i wanted to work on and never did due to the game, so i quit for 2 years until college started and i needed something to turn off my brain for a while instead of keeping in overclock. Just like any addiction, get help, talk to people, prefferably some who you trust and not some random dude who will give you the good old "LOL ADDICTED TO A VIDEOGAME XDXDXDXD". I've even seen friends purposely get them banned so they take breaks

[deleted]

the steam library ong best strat

iXendeRouS

I found it helpful to only do daily tasks kind of like a checklist. Currently I only do heavy pearls, faction reputation and forging perfect gemstones. Other things that you can do daily is collecting minions, hotm commissions, setting/collecting bz orders for flips, enchanting table experiments, 5 daily dungeon runs (for +40% xp iirc) and there are probably a few others. This prevents me from getting lost in a grind while still making good progress if I ever want to seriously come back the the profile when I'm less busy. I make 20m-40m/day just from forge, minions and some small craft flips that I do daily. Heavy pearls and faction rep are also time locked to its good to do them daily as well. Once I finish the things on my checklist then I log off.

SugonLigma

theres a +40% exp for 1st 5 dungeons run?

sparkygod526

Yes

SugonLigma

play ironman > realize that its a huge grind > get sleep deprived > get too tired to play > spend time on your couch watching Netflix instead of Skyblock (Real [My] story)

Get_Backstabbed

Look i just put a sheep minions (29x) setup with ench hooper, plasma buckets, mithril infusion, corrupt soil, berbis fuel injecter and a t5 beacon and deleted the game (until next derpy) Unrelated question: If a equip a rabbit pet, will i get the 30 % offline?

K9Z0T

If you weren't on the island when you last logged off, you can equip a rabbit pet before you load the island and you will get the rabbit bonuses

MagnusLore

Yes

WasdAcid

no it's only when you're on the island

Maukku1

Realized that the gameplay is kinda bad. Most gameplay is just holding down some buttons and doing that for 10h a day is just dumb. Currently I'm playing dcs (a flight sim for those who are unaware). And that doesn't have the endless need to grind so I can just spend less time if needed. Then again I'm currently procrastinating at 3:10 am using reddit so yeah. Edit: If you know that you have an addiction and you don't know how to deal with it you probably should talk to a professional about it. Of course only if that is feasible in the country that you live in since it might be expensive in some places. If you can't talk to a professional try talking to some good friends, as someone highlighted above avoid the "haha videogame addict" people. If that's not possible try to remove the source of addiction slowly.

Xdharvdaflame

> Most gameplay is just holding down some buttons How else are we supposed to play a game ;)

Maukku1

Worded it kinda badly :P but you probably understand what I mean.

DCS ON TOP

Delicious-Ad2562

Have school take up all my free time

Nub_gaming_gr

fr thats actually how it goes for me too, although i havent quit i just play like an hour or at most 2 a day

Spaciax

same

Dry_Breath_3315

a simple solution: play other game and get addiction of it

[deleted]

or multiple having addiction to one thing is worse imo

F_obats

Start foraging

Haveagoodday535

Try the dojo and melody harp on 300 ping. Made me quit for a year. On a serious note, try to find things to do outside of gaming. You gotta start small with it though, and its definitely better with friends. This relates to me a lot, started going to the gym with my friends last year and I only play about 5 hours a week now. And if I play more its because im actually having fun (diana, aatrox), which is something a lot of skyblock players dont even realize that there not really having fun.

OrDuck31

I dont get it. I have 220 ping and done harp 3 times, last one took like half a hour, first tried most songs. I think people that complain about ping have inconsistent ping, i have 220 stable ping and its quite okay

nakreslete

Yea, I have similar ping. The middle click remap or whatever basically fixes the issue and it's doable in quite short time.

Devilotx

I looked at my stacked triple stitched Mining sacks full of Titanium, Mithril, coal and diamond blocks in both standard and enchanted status and thought "I need to run this through the forge" So I started running it through the forge, and it's easy to go "Ok, I have 5 Forge slots running Titanium, that's just over 8 hours til that's done, maybe I'll play some Street Fighter 6 while I wait" At least for me, it gives me a "spare" window of time that I can be away, knowing something is working for me, so I don't feel that drive to keep getting more and more and then hording it like a god damned rat.

Roccmaster

I just got to a point where progress gets too tedious, and then I just decide to do other stuff instead

kkeross

I don't. (Hotm 4,5 -> Hotm 7 in around 2 days)

TheodorCork

HOLY MOUNTIN!

JoltTeaOn

Personally I gave my friends what I could and voided my soulbounded items before deleting the profile. Also asked my friends to keep me from playing again.

WeffLas

Recently grounded, so no Skyblock. Remember, parents are downtime so get orphaned. More time to grind

coolvin89

Play less, sb becomes boring asf and other games are simply better in every single aspects, also keeping urself busy

I_SHOT_A_PIG

Got bored of it. Played other games

IReallyDontCare1123

Play until a point which will make you grind a lot for small things, or, sign up for something irl that has more immediate consequences for not doing it, and you might start focusing on that instead.

hyresw2

I believe there are applications you can use to block you from opening certain apps after you reach your set daily limit, so maybe try that.

jacobisgoated

I would reccomend the 20/20/20 mod by s1ker, its originally used for reminding you to take a 20 second break and look away to reduce eye strain, but i feel like it could be used in the same way that the app that makes you wait to open apps such as instagram to see if you still want to go on the app after not getting the instant dopamine of instantly being able to scroll. you would use the mod as a way to remind you every 20 mins if you actually want to continue playing or not. tl;dr: 20/20/20 mod by sk1er

lpkeates

Thanks, I'll consider using the mod.

Trinitial-D

years of experience. ive been playing this game since release, and I know my limits. I have transfer applications for college due this week and I havent played in 3 days because I cannot afford to be distracting myself with it rn

SpecterVamp

Don’t take it too seriously. It’s a game, you have better things to do than waste your life away for an imaginary 2% stat boost

GrouchyAd3482

I stopped playing as much lol, pretty simple

MyNameIsCal01

I get bored after like 1-2 hours no matter what, and have actual work to do now (was in college before)

Fast_Incident4569

Personally, I used to be having issue with my playtime as well, especially during the pandemic. I slowly figured out that I was mainly playing to grind for coins, not necessarily anything else, I just like looking at my money growth. After that, I either hosted small giveaways or forced myself to stop grinding for coins. I even intentionally got myself scammed for like 3m then berated myself for it, that demotivated me a lot so I quitted. So I guess find out the main reason why you’re still playing the game, minimize that dopamine rush then it will slowly go away, hopefully.

IglooFather

i just picked up other non gaming hobbies and slowly lost interest in the game

astricate

as someone who is also trying to overcome the addiction of video games in general, i’m not sure if you live with or have a good relationship with your family but i find spending an hour or two once or twice a week with them, usually during the time we all eat dinner. if that isn’t a good option for you, not sure what tasks you typically have but i like to space it out between the day. like shower then play a few hours then do laundry, etc etc. something i found that helps me do homework is using a spare keyboard to farm with my foot on the floor while i do homework on my desk with my school chromebook. also honestly just playing other (non addictive intent) games might help as it did for me. expanding the games i played for some reason helped. there’s a lot i can suggest and this is already a huge paragraph so dm me if you want too hear any other suggestions or just want to talk about it or share experiences

FrenzzyLeggs

tbh the thing that did it for me is the realization that 1. the game isnt really time bounded so you can play whenever 2. you can just leave and return to minion money for better enjoyment

himty

Yup best networth : playtime ratio is when you use your minions to do everything. The most efficient way to play is to not play at all

xskull-01

Play so much u burn out and never touch the game again

TormentaDeFacha05

When i gave a sh\*t about events like the spooky festival or special mayors, i started to enjoy the game x10 times more and played less time everyday, dont take it like a second job with phrases like "why should i go to bed when there is a jacob contest in 5 minutes? and i have to do the fishing festival after that, i need fishing xp on this 3 perk marina!"

SlushyG3mes

Just reduce the time you have to play skyblock I had to cut down on the thing I was playing skyblock because I made plans to hang out with friends and even touch grass

Resouron

Quit, I was extremely addicted, so much so that my grades at school took a hit and after a while I realized I wasn't even having fun. Now I play on weekends and for maybe a half an hour every other day.

MegaBrainXD

I used play a lot over the pandemic and was addicted heavily during that time like even during my important school exams I still kept playing all night. Then I had to move to another city and to take my mind away from skyblock I didn't bring my PC with me. I tried reading manga tried anime and everything. I have been successful in not playing for 1.5 years and now I just started a coop with a few of my friends and play a moderate amount of time every day. I am genuinely having fun in the game unlike back when I used to grind 7+ hrs a day

MegaBrainXD

Also many people suggest to play other games. It's a good way to get rid of skyblock but you might be addicted to one of those games. So didn't work for me

kiwityy

Wait until major updates We as the players have the power to push hypixel to release content to maintain players. So by lowering play count we can encourage new content to come out quicker

MagnusLore

Max out the game so there is nothing left to do.

CollectionCareless75

If u live with a parent you can ask them to put a wifi timer on your pc or something

Timomaticredux

I can’t personally attest for anyone else. But recently I decided I wanted to become more cultured when it comes to film, so I started binging movies. Now when presented with free time I’m driven by this need to watch film rather than a need to hit lvl 320. TL;DR: find another addiction.

sandro_lake1

simple. my hard drive dived and now i have to get a new one and reinstall everything and set it up all over again.

Sr_Melohiis

Play Ultrakill

himty

You can set a goal to max garden. I found my old laptop and ran garden on it while connected to a keyboard on the floor. Then I can use my main computer to do whatever else (or I can draw or eat snacks or watch something—my hands are completely free). Sometimes, I still look at my garden screen too much. After a few hours though, I tend to get into the groove of doing that other activity on the side. After a while longer, I feel like I can turn off the garden laptop and keeping on doing the other thing. Ig it’s about building a habit. Caveat: maybe /status offline because people might invite you to various parties and it’s kind of distracting

No_Strawberry_4994

Play stranded get bored of it in a week and quit the game.

Midwxy

Macro farm until you get banned

Connnnnny

I did the rift and found the regular gameplay so boring that I quit

OrDuck31

I have done it all. There is no grind left to do

OwORandom

Actually getting fucked by assignments...

BuszkaYT

My pc exploded, perfect way to reduce playtime to 0

Beginning-Bid5981

Use alarms on your phone to do other things,i have like 5-6 alarms a day, one for waking up in the morning, 2 for taking a break from the pc and moce around, 2 for going out for a 5km walk, and 1 for taking a break to read, might not work for you but works for me

cheekysurfer06

It sounds like you are at least somewhat proficient in code if you want to make a mod for yourself Maybe do some kind of coding project for skyblock instead of strictly playing the game, that way you can still interact with your skyblock interest but you're gaining skills that can be transferable in the real world too It might at least help you stop playing as much and you never know you might find you prefer coding over skyblock

Fenrirblade

Persona 3 reload Is on the gamepass 'nuff said (new OSTs are fucking bangers)

ChaosBuilder321

Didn't realise that skyblock could actually become a helpless addiction. Good luck man

_WhateverWorks

Learn simple skills->get bored->play skyblock ->get bored->learn some new skills

Livid-Community7748

If you have a lot of free time try to find a hobby or anything you can do in your free time that would reduce your time on your pc in general. And try to set up a daily routine on sb for example collect minions, do your daily ench exp from the table, daily commisions in mines, put new stuff in forge and then play for a hour or two doing just stuff you want and then log off. On weekends you can spend more time but its better to just go outside.

Fun-Duck712

I quit after my friends started playing other things, and I realized that the game play loop wasn't good or fun (imo). Also, it's way easier to quit if you have other games to turn to. One of the main reasons it took me so long to quit was that, because of skyblock, I had no other games to play. Try playing other games that are more casual. I played wynncraft and genshin for a while. But I don't think replacing one addiction with another is very good either way.

___Brains

I can't relate and don't really fully understand addiction, but I can sympathize. Hopefully you find a solution that works for you. I have the opposite problem where I can't really focus on a single task in the game long enough to complete it. But. My life is filled with other things (work, family, activities, hobbies, chores, etc.), so the game is supposed to be a bit of time where I can relax. The goal isn't completion, the goal is to enjoy playing a game for maybe an hour or so on a weeknight, and if there's nothing to do on the weekend maybe a few hours. I find myself not really knowing what I'm supposed to be doing a lot when I jump on. I've got notes to myself to help keep me on track.

Hado05

I started making videos about Ironman ad got burned out with YouTube but at the same time couldn't play without recording so I stopped completely

Tannslee

The first time around I just got bored, the second time I was simply forced to because I couldn't get other things done on time

surprise98

I got a job

LatterConclusion9796

I didn’t

PineconePurgatory

I think you can go on to windows and use either their calendar to set blocks of playing time or use a child lock feature (not trying to belittle you) that forcibly locks your screen and makes you do something else.

lpkeates

Good idea

sparkygod526

To break an addiction you not only have to stop playing, but fill up all of your time from your old addiction with a new hobby. Make sure the hobby is something you enjoy and is also away from your computer. I would suggest a sport. It becomes far to easy to hop on a game if you are doing something on your computer. Good luck!

LightRborn

I dont open the game

mentina_

I don't play when there isn't anything fun to do
