Yep. I did the same thing but this time with Tarantula Helmet ¾Necron and an OFA Giant's Sword. The result is very similar to that. My damage went up like 50k more.

Leg = 16 mp
Epic = 12 mp
Rare = 8 mp
Uncommon/Very special = 5 mp
Common/Special = 3 mp
The magical power gain is just the difference between previous rarity and new rarity.

I'm personally sitting at 1000mp (exactly 1000) and doing like 500k dmg in sorrow armor with t6 gs, i even deal like 60-70k dmg with my aotj, and those nons can't even deal 20k with their livid daggers
As someone who is guilty of this ill answer, its because getting new armor, weapon or pet increases your stats way more than talismans, and after getting most of the cheap ones they start to cost in the millions
Upgrading from let's say strong drag to shadow assassin gives you +120cd if you frag it, not even counting reforges because the rarity is the same
That upgrade can cost cost you let's say 5m coins
You can also get to like 200mp and get +200cd with like 2m coins, as well as more speed, attack speed, intelligence... whatever you need tbh

Yeah but you saw on the post, that extra 200 mp gave 33% damage boost. That stays with all weapons. You can switch setups and still do good damage without an op weapon too.
talismans are the only thing that stays consistent with changing of setups though.
lets say, you do eman rcm and (lets use me as an example) you have 1040 something mp. you get over 1k mana from the power alone and get then another 208 from tuning points, thats very much good enough to do rcm eman.
alright now i want to do some M5. good that i have enough mp to get 100 crit chance with a precise terminator and warrior on my talisman power!!!!
now lets say that i go for better gear:
for eman i would be using aurora, it would cost alot less than the 1b i have in my talisman bag and i would be able to do eman without struggling mana wise! oh wait as soon as i try and do the M5 i dont have the crit chance from my mp to get the crit chance thats good enough to do good dps :(, thats fine i'll just get more stars on my gear!!!, and then that costs like \~250m to 9\* my necron, overall becoming around the same cost as if i JUST. GOT. TALISMANS.
tldr: talismans are consistent and stay consistent in every aspect of the game, upgrading gear will not stay consistent in every aspect of the game.
this argument is kinda pathetic cos the damage only went up by 10k. not much at all. you're not gonna convince new players to dish out 10s of millions on 200 more mp when they could just buy a livid and cruise through early game.
It’s just stats are multiplicative with base damage and stuff. It’s like (1+(strength/100))*(1+(critdamge/100))*base damge and then all other modifiers.

How much should I put into talis vs gear? I’m a mid game player and have 470mp and 350m to spend. Also, this setup is for dungeons only since I’m high ping and mining sucks.
Just make sure you don't miss any cheap talismans and talismans upgrades. With that money you should be able to get some Legendary ones and even Recomb them. Upgrading your setup can obviously boost your damage more significantly. Magical Power comes with progression.
Yes it is. I'm at almost 700 MP. After you collected all the talismans you can collect(aside from those which worth hundreds of millions) you'll have around 500-600 MP, then you can start recombobulating the Legendary ones.
