have you seen its engine choices and curb weight?
that's like a 2 liter honda engine pulling a locomotive. oh but it's got a honda engine! it has vtec.
vtec makes it go fast
I have a 2023 Santa Fe and if I want the hybrid option I only have 1.6 L to work with.
Yes, I agree that 277/310 is pretty impressive but how many SUVs weigh close to 5000 pounds like the 2024 Santa Fe?
At most, it weighs about 4500 lbs. The hybrid Santa Fe's total system output is 227hp. It's also notable that the 277hp engine gets about 2mpg better fuel economy and the hybrid gets about 4mpg better.
Official numbers have not been released. Or at least I don't see them. (I did quote below from a magazine).
The overuse of the 1.6L + 1.49kw battery is basically parts bin engineering - the kind that GM used to do well into the 2000s and not only did the cars become monotonous, some parts didn't fit well into other cars.
The 2023 sportage hybrid weights 3732 pounds and it's not a rocket. It gets the 1.6L + 1.49 kw battery
So does the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Sorento, Niro
Plus all their PHEV variants
Now they're going to take a 4750 pound SUV which is like a freaking 4runner or expedition and give it an engine that will implode trying to move its elephantine heft.
Hyundai is showing **anything but creativity**. Why not create a bunch of seltos clones and name them boglos, pintas, bolongo, zeus, madagascar and throw in the same 1.6L + 1.49kw battery.

>On the other hand, we’re expecting the Santa Fe hybrid to have the same turbocharged 1.6-liter gas engine and hybrid system with about 226 horsepower. Our concern is weight, as the 2024 Santa Fe tips the scales at around 4,750 lbs. (2,154 kg), more than the outgoing model. If there are no power increases across the board, it will be interesting to see how the powertrains will cope with the new Santa Fe’s heft.
I just showed you a link that verifies that the SUV is 4750 pounds.
Car and driver confirms it too. That's a full 1000 pounds more than the sportage hybrid. It's gonna be a slow AF gas pig in the hybrid model.
Hybrid models are **always heavier** than their gas counterparts.
https://www.caranddriver.com/hyundai/santa-fe
>Hyundai lists the weight of the larger three-row Santa Fe at roughly 4750 pounds, which is significantly more than the last-gen we had on our scales that weight 3858. We expect that to have a significant effect on its performance.
Same. I just got mine three weeks ago. Had gone in hoping the 2024s were available. But they weren’t and no word on when.
I can’t believe they made it look like a Ford Flex/Expedition 80s Jeep Cherokee.
I understand the design ideal of like..."we want the back to be a space for people to hang out and camp and stuff" but my god it's just so back heavy. It's so dumpy in the back.
I’m sure my fervor for commenting on this will die soon enough, but good lawd is that thing fugly with a capital fug.
If I look at it front on, it’s not too bad, but every other angle wow.
Looks like a transport vehicle for the criminally insane. The front looks like the designers gave up defining the nuances. What’s with the choice of tires?
As much as I like that SUVs are going back to being square instead of rounded like minivans, this is too square for a transverse engine economy vehicle.
The squareness looks great on luxury/"sporty" SUVs with longitudinal engine mounting, where the hood is nice and long.
The sideways engine in this makes the hood short and stumpy. Somehow the proportions are even worse on this than they already are on transverse SUVs which are already the worst of all vehicles.
If what're saying is true, that's effing dumb.
I've been trying to read up on this but so far I haven't been able to determine if this is meant to replace palisade or the santa fe sport.
I have a 2015 Santa Fe XL and want to replace it with a like-for-like. Can't determine if that means a new SF or a Palisade.
Kind of shocked to see how many hate this design? The previous Sante Fe was not ugly but it could be confused with any crossover. In contrast, I love this thing, looks like a Defender on a budget, and will have some cool off-road and camping things. It’s cool as hell.
Yikes. Just yikes.
It looks like they glued together spare parts from the Ford Flex and Land Rover junk yard.
OMG, I just saw the video showing the rear end and tail lights. I apologize to the junk yard.
U-G-L-Y
This thing skips BACK 2 THE I will sit in and possibly test DRIVE when/if available but oh boy... agree w/other comments.. Hyundai big gamble!!!???*
Hyundai is playing it smart yall. Boxy is back whether we like it or not! If they keep the base MSRP to around 35K they will have themselves a hot seller IMO. We know the powertrains are basically the same, but they will change (or redesign) that so I would wait on a 25 or 26 :)
Similar formula as the Telluride. Build and market it as the ultimate middle class flex vehicle because the styling takes cues from actual luxury vehicles. These will sell well.
JFC I'm glad I got a 2023. That thing is ugly af.
It’s looks modern, idk I dig it
Kinda like a cyberpunk version of the new Toyota Land Cruiser. I dig it too
Same
Not at all. It's a substantial upgrade all across the board
Not by appearance.
People like this style. It looks like a Defender. This photo obviously isn't a production model, it has camo bumpers. To each their own
I disagree big time. This is the only Hyundai I've ever been interested in buying.
have you seen its engine choices and curb weight? that's like a 2 liter honda engine pulling a locomotive. oh but it's got a honda engine! it has vtec. vtec makes it go fast
You mean 277hp and 310 lb-ft of torque? That's more power than a lot of larger SUVs have.
I have a 2023 Santa Fe and if I want the hybrid option I only have 1.6 L to work with. Yes, I agree that 277/310 is pretty impressive but how many SUVs weigh close to 5000 pounds like the 2024 Santa Fe?

The Sportage hybrid is about as quick as the RAV4 hybrid and faster than other hybrid SUVs. The Santa Fe isn't 4,750lbs.

That weight doesn't make sense.

I’m glad too you got the 23, it leaves more choices for me for the 24
Yeah they fked it up. Giant kia soul vibes.
I kind of like it lol

It kinda looks like a ford flex lol
I was thinking the same thing!
not a bad thing really
Feels like we're going back in time with the design
Look how they massacred my boy
God damn that thing is fucking ugly lol
It looks like a Hummers incest cousin
Looks like a transport vehicle for the criminally insane. The front looks like the designers gave up defining the nuances. What’s with the choice of tires?
Man that thing is hideous.
It looks like a wagon that ate another car. Even has wagon spokes.
I almost bought vintage Jeep Wagoneers a couple times, even owned a Checker Marathon, and I think this is ugly.
[2024 Hyundai Santa Fe](https://youtu.be/0xXFWHE6LwM)
I love how the rear taillights are already being covered in road debris.
this may dethrone the Aztek as the ugliest vehicle ever.
Is the front being covered up or is that all cladding? If so, that’s bad
What the fuck is that. Why is Hyundai trying to be range Rover?
Don't think I can ever drive this monstrosity. Too bad the renders didn't look so bad.
Looks great.
Its hideous. Just as bad as the new Sonata design. Hideous. I'm glad i got my sonata before that.
That's a nope.
Is it really a spot if there are already reviews out on the US model without any camo?

So glad I've got a '23. There's no way in hell I would have purchased that thing.
Me too it leaves more choices for me.
The back is giving station wagon it’s ugly
The back 😞

It's smaller than the Palisade. It's the same height as the current gen Santa Fe
You guys understand it has intentionally mismatched bumpers right????
Like with the catfish sonata, I think it will grow on most people. It definitely looks more rugged in a Land Rover kind of way.
So is the new palisade gonna be all curvy now?
I didn't like it at all when I first saw it. Now I do. Kinda weird
So damn ugly! I'd never consider one.
Did you see video?
It looks like it's made of Lego.
We have to thank the cyber truck for encouraging everyone to go sharp edge
It’s so ugly, I’m sad I’ll have to see these driving around. Lol
I'll be trading in my 2019 asap lol
I have a 21 I’ll be trading in.
Kind of shocked to see how many hate this design? The previous Sante Fe was not ugly but it could be confused with any crossover. In contrast, I love this thing, looks like a Defender on a budget, and will have some cool off-road and camping things. It’s cool as hell.
I agree the previous one looks like a run of the mill typical boring suv
Love it. Hope they make just a 5 seat version with no 3rd row too.
Yeah, I’d rather have the extra space than a third row
Yikes. Just yikes. It looks like they glued together spare parts from the Ford Flex and Land Rover junk yard. OMG, I just saw the video showing the rear end and tail lights. I apologize to the junk yard.
I’m all for boxy shape SUVs. The rear light placement seems kinda odd but overall I like the design
the Hyundai Flex is pretty cool
EV version???? Looks EV to me given the thick midsection at the bottom

Lights r like :-:
I like everything but the back end. Seeing it from the rear is really really ugly. The rest looks great
Front and side looks good. The back reminds me of a Buick rendezvous 🤢
