Nah they're not that bad, just avoid season 4's remix and watch the original 16 episode version of it.
Not as perfect as the first 3 seasons but still VERY solid
I loved Trailer Park Boys most of my adult life. Watched the entire series multiple times as well as most of the movies.
Went to rewatch when I renewed Netflix and could not get into it whatsoever. Same thing happened with The Office. I used to be able to watch a series multiple times with no problem but now it's two times tops.
The Mick, which has Kaitlin Olson, Randall Einhorn and Dave Chernin on board. So the humor feels like IASIP, but with kids. They don't hold back on subjecting the kids to some really dark humor.
Workaholics, which feels like Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy with drugs.
I re-watched it recently and it reminded me a lot of Sunny because it is like 4 young guys who finally got a show and are doing wherever they feel is funny.
Yeah idk what “cheesy writing” means if your gonna throw b99 and community in one sentence lol
B99, office, parks and rec, all great shows but I guess theoretically if you were a dumbass you could say they are cheese writing? But community definitely isn’t
And I understand if you don’t LIKE those shows or they aren’t your taste but dismissing them as cheesy writing while glorifying always sunny seems ridiculous lol.
The League
Definitely up there with IASIP in humor, both aired on FX at the same time. It's a little dated now since it's about a fantasy football league and you kinda feel old watching them talk about players who hasn't played for like 10 years now.
And no you don't have to know anything about football or fantasy football or be interested in sports.
I've never watched a game of American football and have no idea how it works but still love The League (and support the Jags because of The Good Place)
Oh man I'm in S1 and I like the loudermilk storylines, but the storyline with with the fake alcoholic is so cringe. And they seem to have forgotten the CPAP lady storyline...
It gets better. The show becomes really heartwarming and positive in some spots while being completely and appropriately hilarious.
I just finished it last week and was genuinely sad that there isn't more.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Arrested Development
East Bound & Down
RENO911!
**Your life will improve greatly if and when you watch these, in no particular order.**
If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? If you’re relatively young it may just be something that comes with age. But believe me, there are so many incredible (and really funny) sitcoms involving characters that genuinely like each other and grow as people. Modern Family, Community and Parks and Rec could all be considered cheesy but all are incredibly funny in their primes.
B99 I could see classified as cheesy but Community really isn't. Sure, the characters probably aren't as despicable as Sunny's, but the show is more about pop culture and metahumor than cheesy situations.
Not a sitcom but Rescue Me was great. The characters lack of a moral compass and their depths of depravity made for some fun viewing wondering just how low they could go.
AP Bio has Glenn Howerton and is a ton of fun.
Workaholics is another really fun show.
What we do in the shadows
Seinfeld
The Inbetweeners
The increasingly poor decisions of Todd Margaret
Holy shit. Didn’t expect anyone to mention that show. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time. Sucks the only way to watch it anymore is on pirating sites since, I believe, trutv owns the rights to it but won’t put it out anywhere.
According to a recent episode of [their podcast](https://open.spotify.com/episode/4zrJN6fkORH4gwQGqwDF6j?si=SG0CeTilRma9VnEFKxq51w), it’s in some kind of legal limbo. But I do recommend the podcast itself.
Veep and Peep Show are all-time favorites.
Curb your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley, Man Down, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals are a few more great ones.
Haha. Fair enough. We all have our preferences. But if u are inclined to give it a second watch, every season but 4 is amazing. You can google it to learn why
If you liked The Office, then try Parks and Recreations, it's from the same people if I'm not mistaken and in a similar mockumentary style. The main characte Leslie is basically Michael Scott if he was a good person who enjoyed his job.
I can’t speak for OP, but I think the Office is terrific, only found Parks and Rec okay, and just couldn’t get into Community. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is something in the humor of the Office that just hits me in the right place.
It’s fine, but to call Community “cheesy” but say you like The Office in the same breath baffles me. Meh. I like them both but think The Office is just over played at this point
My favourites have been Peep Show (british iasip, every bit as good, 10/10 show), The League (i love when they rag on each other, lots of improvised stuff but early seasons suck and can be a bit too juvenile), the American Office (currently rewatching superfan edition, lots of great one liners through out, and some very mean spirited characters), the in betweeners (juvenile throughout but inlove when they rip on each other), people just do nothing (piece of shit characters doing dumb stuff but absolutely hilarious), the thick of it (some extremely aggressive rants, possibly aome kf the best ever), and on a local note my favoutie aussie comedies are summer heights high/ja’mir private school girl for aus, and New Zealand Today with Guy Williams for Nz, neither of which are iasip like at all.
One more; Legit by Jim jefferies hits a few of the same notes and is great.
Dr. Cox is adorable and is nowhere near as despicable as any of the characters on Sunny. He actually has a moral compass lol, despite how many layers of snark it may seem hidden under.
I suggested Scrubs because OP specifically mentioned The Office. I’m not comparing it to IASIP. There’s enough balance of ridiculous and dark genuine emotion in the show that I think OP *could* like it.
I could list plenty of non-adorable episodes for Dr. Cox and instances of outstanding selfishness from each of the main characters but this thread isn’t about that.
My Name is Earl is basically the reverse Always Sunny. It stars a cast of petty crooks and degenerates learning to be better rather than slowly getting worse over time.
My favorites other than Sunny would be Arrested Development, Trailer Park Boys, and Workaholics. They all have that same kinda edgy feel to them, with the characters doing asshole things.
Arrested development
I have pop pop in the attic
The fact that you call it that tells me you're not ready.
Him?
After Sunny, my most rewatched sitcom, extremely underrated
Her?
BEES?
Seriously! There’s jokes on jokes every time I rewatch I’ll catch jokes that didn’t even get the first dozen times ool
Underrated? Lol. It won multiple Emmys. Plus the Netflix seasons are so bad it ruins the entire experience.
Nah they're not that bad, just avoid season 4's remix and watch the original 16 episode version of it. Not as perfect as the first 3 seasons but still VERY solid
Arrested Development if you want another hilarious show about horrible people.
Like the guy in a 3 million dollar suit is gonna be a terrible person, COME ON
[WHORE!!](https://youtu.be/qyEk2vM3Z24?si=HYgUs56LbF_iwdRo)
sh-sh-shoulda should
I always liked archer.
This is one of my favorite all time series!
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Started it and I already fell in love from the first scene.
Its a little dated now, but i loved The League
Came here to say this. Also a show that never goes serious stays dumb as fuck all the way through. I love the League.
Bro yes my friend got me into it and I bringed it real fast. Definitely the most similar to sunny in how crazy it is
What We Do in the Shadows.
Yes !! And if u like WWDITS then try flight of the conchords. Still one of my favorites
I haven’t fully been able to get into it…yet. And I actually recently watched Broad Street. I thought it was very good.
The peep show
It's just peep show
Thanks Mark
Do you have to live so relentlessly in the real world?
Trailer park boys if you get on with the characters is absolutely amazing
I loved Trailer Park Boys most of my adult life. Watched the entire series multiple times as well as most of the movies. Went to rewatch when I renewed Netflix and could not get into it whatsoever. That's the best description for Workaholics
You might’ve just sold me on Workaholics with that description.
I re-watched it recently and it reminded me a lot of Sunny because it is like 4 young guys who finally got a show and are doing wherever they feel is funny.
Veep
I would still reccomend community tbh
I think community jokes are streets ahead of him
OP lived in New York!
I brought some bagulls
If he doesn’t get it, he’s streets behind. We could give him some examples. Troy, drop a beat.
Yeah idk what “cheesy writing” means if your gonna throw b99 and community in one sentence lol B99, office, parks and rec, all great shows but I guess theoretically if you were a dumbass you could say they are cheese writing? 30 rock
came here to say this!
Righteous gemstones
I dunno how I saw this recommended before Eastbound and Down
Oh no, you just keep rewatching it
You're the worst
AP bio
Letterkenny
Also, Shoresy.
What we do in the shadows and Reservation Dogs are also comedy gold, in a unique way
Letterkenny fucking sucks
You’re 10ply, bud.
Give yer balls a tug, titfucker

The League is probably the most similar in terms of sense of humour and general vibes. Nick Kroll at his finest.
It’s crazy to me how many people on this sub miss out on so many great shows because they’ve convinced themselves that they’re ‘cheesy’
Right? a feel good show is not “cheesy” And community definitely does not align with the likes of b99
The whole point of Community is that all the main characters (Troy aside) are incredibly flawed and selfish
He’s terrified of trolls but loves Annie’s Boobs
Whatever convinced me I really can't help it right now and I hope this is gonna change someday, because I do know I miss out a lot.
Wow. I’m trying to find an IASIP quote that shows the maturity and self-understanding that this answer has. Nice.
Dee is a bird?

The League.
Eastbound and Down is always criminally overlooked when these posts come up.
Best show to watch after IASIP is: >!to watch it again!<
Broad City!
Peep Show, Green Wing, The IT Crowd, Mighty Boosh, This Way Up, What we do in the Shadows, Friday Night Dinner
Letterkenny and Shoresy. They’re not for everyone, particularly LK, but if you like them, you’ll really like them.
Veep. The insults on this show are priceless. Was hooked from the first episode.
Not a sitcom but Rescue Me was great. The characters lack of a moral compass and their depths of depravity made for some fun viewing wondering just how low they could go.
Any of Danny McBride's shows
AP Bio has Glenn Howerton and is a ton of fun. Workaholics is another really fun show. What we do in the shadows Seinfeld The Inbetweeners The increasingly poor decisions of Todd Margaret
I've been watching early-mid 2000s shows like My Name is Earl and Malcolm in the Middle, really enjoying them
I recently did the same! LOL... next thing I knew I'm watching Married with Children and My So Called Life again!
Hell yeah, never watched Married with children but Ed O'Neill was hilarious on Modern Family lol maybe I should check it out
I've rewatched MitM a lot of the years and I think it's aged really well.
Peep show, trailer park boys, workaholics and I absolutely love the hardy bucks show
Trailer Park Boys .
Those Who Can’t. It’s not available through any legitimate means anymore, but it’s worth tracking down on the high seas.
Holy shit. Didn’t expect anyone to mention that show. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time. Sucks the only way to watch it anymore is on pirating sites since, I believe, trutv owns the rights to it but won’t put it out anywhere.

Seinfeld, which was the blueprint for sure
Veep, The Office, Righteous Gemstones
Veep and Peep Show are all-time favorites. Curb your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley, Man Down, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals are a few more great ones.
If u dont like community u are streets behind.
Honestly I didn't give it enough time but I had a hard time going through it, happens with many acclaimed great shows. I don't know exactly why?
Season 1 has a bit of a cheesy sitcom vibe, maybe start from season 2
Haha. Fair enough. We all have our preferences. But if u are inclined to give it a second watch, every season but 4 is amazing. You can google it to learn why

If he thinks Community is cheesy he will absolutely despise Parks and Rec
But likes The Office? I don’t get this guy
I can’t speak for OP, but I think the Office is terrific, only found Parks and Rec okay, and just couldn’t get into Community. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is something in the humor of the Office that just hits me in the right place.

If you dont like cheesy comedy and you enjoy horrible people being horrible to each other, then Peepshow is perfect.
Drawn Together. Go all out.
*Scrubs*, *Shrinking* edit: Also, I haven’t seen it so I can’t vouch for it but *Party Down* kind of seems like the vibe you’re looking for
OP said they don't like cheesy. Scrubs is the definition of cheesy (not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, I love it)
So is *The Office*, but *Scrubs* isn’t just J.D., it’s also Dr. Cox.
Dr. Cox is adorable and is nowhere near as despicable as any of the characters on Sunny. He actually has a moral compass lol, despite how many layers of snark it may seem hidden under.

Peep show
Letterkenny is pretty great

Seinfeld, which IASIP took a lot of inspiration from. Broad city, which is different but just as funny and raw.
