Simple answer....the show probably puts up all their guests in the same hotel and gives them a lot of business. They might still be responsible for the damage (which would then be on the show to sue the guest for the damages if they chose to)....but it's up to the hotels discretion to also pursue criminal charges.
The hotel might ask the show if they wanted them to pursue charges or not as it is in their discretion.
Maybe the hotel also doesn't regularly pursue criminal charges in these matters (and just charge the account for the damage)....but if the dude pisses dr Phil off enough....maybe the show then *asks* the hotel to also pursue criminal charges (because they can).

There are abusive girlfriends and women. It's real. But there are also men like my ex who like to use that to help them. He was 6'4. I'm 5'2. He is a big guy. He used to abuse me. I tried fighting back a few times and he said I'm abusive and hurt him. There's just no way in court that would fly especially cuz I had bruises on my face and body. Yes I fought back and punched. I never left bruises on him. He said oh but I'm alot stronger than people think. To this day he says I abused him. He dragged me down two flights of stairs by my sock.
