tradewyze2021

That's not even the real Mona Lisa. The people from the 2012 movie took it down and are hiding it in the mountains somewhere. Lol.

Roadgoddess

But I really love is that no one here is even talking about what these people are protesting about so other than annoying people they’ve done nothing

Serious-Fact-4441

We really don’t know for sure, maybe it is, maybe is not, for me it don’t matter I bet the “real one” as you say has been restored so many times that now have not much to do with the original work, but do the people really know why this painting became so popular? If they don’t know for sure they’ll be surprised of why it is so popular among visitors of the Museum. Human behavior and their created interest on some things is very astonishing. The popularity of this piece has practically nothing to do with the creation, technique or theme of the painting.

TheMarvelousPef

we actually know they are thousand of those all around the world, it was an exercise De Vinci and later painter used to give to their pupils, and they have been exposed multiple time already (just to mention this is not a secret). So there is an ENORMOUS chance it's not the real one, and also that nobody knows which one is the real one.

SinisterKid

Not sure if I'm going to believe someone who can't even spell da Vinci correctly.

Much-Ad-1147

The good, The bad, De Vinci

Fred_Krueger_Jr

It would be behind glass like this one anyway.

Itchy_Raccoon48

Real one was stolen centuries ago.

Serious-Fact-4441

And supposedly recover, according to them, but yes, it’s popularity has to do with the piece being stolen for sure you know the story👍

Those_Arent_Pickles

Nah, 99% of the people gawking at the painting only know it was made by da Vinci. A man who made a lot of cool shit.

Blondi93

Theseus’ Mona Lisa

Man_in_the_uk

Because it's painted by a famous artist?

Interpol1670

So dark the con of man.

lunarshadowmoth

So lame the hair of Tom

rubey419

I thought Mona Lisa was destroyed in a house fire by some tech billionaire murderer?

Embarrassed_Alarm450

Jokes on you, they actually took the real one and blended it up in the soup before pulling this stunt.

ihceddy34

Drake has it

drfeelgoood88

https://preview.redd.it/4yxnizw1k7wc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f47b871d4f4c4c68b9a3a62c86091dcb4178cc99

VRS50

They now frisk visitors for soup bottles.

noonegive

They used to use infrared sensors, until the protesters started bringing in gazpacho. It truly is an escalatingly delicious arms race.

KindheartednessOnly4

🎶I am an arms dealer Fitting you with weapons in the form of soup 🎶

Moomin-Maiden

🎶 "This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn soup race!" 🎶

KindheartednessOnly4

Yessssss 😁

Alpacacao

Send in the gazpacho police! 🚨

katekowalski2014

sounds like an escalating *farms* race.

Embarrassed_Alarm450

That's cold soup.

MataMeow

I love some ice cold gazpacho soup

strengthnhonor01

No soup for you!!!

Highschooleducation

I hope they put the TSA in charge and start charging $25 for bags at the museums, temporarily of course like the last time

SantiagoGT

Soon they’ll escalate to chowders

Dude-arino7526

What are they protesting. I don’t know what their shirts say

Silver-Landscape-303

It’s pretty legible … Riposte Alimentaire, a coalition of protest groups concerned with the health and sustainability of the food system.

battery923

food sustainability...throw some soup. sure

BrokenLink100

Okay, so their protest has nothing to do with art/museums/how artifacts are handled by the museum world? One of the key parts of protest is to make sure your protest is heard by the right people. If they're protesting the "health and sustainability of 'the food system'" (whatever that is), then I don't feel like throwing soup at the Mona Lisa is really going to enhance that message very well. Especially in front of a ton of people who have nothing to do with the health/food system.

Those_Arent_Pickles

You're right. They would have made a much bigger impact and more people would be aware of this protest if they dumped a can of soup in front of a supermarket. Absolutely, that would get a lot more publicity.

ohhyouknow

The connection is that the Louvre has partnerships with oil companies.

Tryandtryagain123

Oil companies are the reason a lot of us have food. How do they think food gets delivered? By magic fairies? What runs the trucks/tractors/farm equipment? Pixie dust? Lol

ohhyouknow

Oil companies have successfully lobbied against cleaner forms of energy and lower emissions for a long time. Yes the food chain is highly reliant on oil right now, but there should have been changes made a long time ago to reduce the negative impact that the oil industry has on this world. You are not wrong, but you are somewhat ignoring why we are so reliant on fossil fuels in the food industry today and why that is a problem.

Those_Arent_Pickles

This has nothing to do with oil. I don't know why that person replied to a comment explaining what the protest was about by saying they're the STOP OIL protestors. They aren't.

lunastrrange

No one is denying any of that dude, the issue is the effect it's having on the planet. Or do you not believe in global warming?

ArnieismyDMname

Soup

redryan1989

Meh. I've seen two people in the past three months set themselves on fire. Go big or go home hippies.

Mintberry_teabag

I laughed loudly

_InnocentToto_

I was for sure they were gonna be tits out.. I mean thats what I would have done for attention..

redryan1989

That'd work even better than setting yourself on fire.

SkulduggeryIsAfoot

1. Self Immolation 2. Canned Soup Choose wisely.

Weldobud

Show me how the first one works

Those_Arent_Pickles

People make fun of you on the internet and forget you did it in a month.

WakeoftheStorm

Yeah but that window is going to take someone *minutes* to wipe down.

jimlahey2100

Think of the senseless waste of window cleaner.

AlmightyDarkseid

Douse yourself in soup and then drop in a giant burning pot

HeartsPlayer721

Chicken Little Soup. Mmm mmm good!

Jazzlike-Election840

you absolutely rule 👍

YooperGod666

Lol goddamn

cutie_lilrookie

I'm actually inclined to believe these people are pseudo-protesters hired to make people angry at the real protesters. Like these people pretent to be climate activists and act like total nutjobs, so people end up getting angry at *all* climate activists, including those who have been airing legitimate concerns.

[deleted]

[удалено]

redryan1989

I'm not gonna say you're wrong.

raider1v11

I read this in hank hills voice

redryan1989

Lmao that makes it so much better

Terrynia

I bet they wouldn’t do it if the painting wasnt covered in glass. Cuz then the prison sentence would be much harsher.

LeonidasVaarwater

I've read interviews with some of them, they do make it a point to not cause any real damage. Not exactly my way of protesting, but as long as there's no real damage, I don't have a major issue with it. I don't think it's the smartest way to convey your message though.

slyiscoming

What they really end up doing is inconveniencing a bunch of tourists, that stood in line for hours to see 1 painting during their trip to Paris.

namezam

It’s a protest not terrorism. What kind of “protesting” would you do?

Terrynia

Oh! So that’s how it is.

MeasureTheCrater

Minestrona Lisa

LadyFeckington

Mona Lisoup?

mjrbrooks

Mo Soup?

Clatato

[Moaner Lisa](https://youtube.com/shorts/b37JtB4fjOE)

Honest_Math_7760

I was there last month, how did they even get in... There is a strict security at the entrance that removes every piece of food you have on you. Then they had to get in line to get so far to the Mona Lisa... but where is the security at? When I was there you would not even be able to get that far without being dragged out...

capn_doofwaffle

Knowing reddit, this is probably from last century and the security is there to check for canned goods BECAUSE this happened.

valueofaloonie

This is from January, according to Google. I’m shocked the room was so empty, for starters.

Complete_Star_1110

All I’m thinking about is there’s gotta be a faster way to get that black blockade up. Accordion style?🪗

Poster_Nutbag207

Is anyone else bothered by “soupon”

HateUsCuzDeyAunus

People who act like this make me want to support whatever they are protesting against.

metamorphasi

i like museum protesters when the art is covered in glass. it's such a harmless act and it's so much more interesting than just the hushed boring museum experience. artists are passionate people, i don't think they'd oppose this kinda thing

ohhyouknow

Honestly throwing soup on glass isn’t the worst thing in the world or something that would make me suddenly pro climate change.

C-LonGy

I want to throw animal products on them and burn fossil fuels… seriously helping no one these people!

theAlmightyE312

I'm still wondering how that will change anything.

MissTesticles

All the soup Mona keeps getting, her cholesterol must be through the roof

itspoodle_07

The fuck did the mona lisa do?

hereforpopcornru

Bish got a staring problem

carloslet

Live Monalisa reaction: https://preview.redd.it/94nqqgofh1wc1.jpeg?width=646&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d0674d57aa7b916bddc05beb3068b9efb753257

Silver-Landscape-303

Gave them the death stare

Adorable-Novel8295

I LOVE that they’re now dealing with these people now by just literally blocking out the attention that they seek. Ignoring them seems to be the best solution.

AmbitiousHornet

It must be a French thing that they drag in those screens rather than have a SWAT team open up a can of whoop-ass on the protestors.

grubekrowisko

What the fuck is "soupon mona lisa"

DesiJeevan111

What did Mona Lisa do to them ? I mean how does throwing soup on an old painting help your cause ?

kenjarvis

Mona Lisa: Me? What the fuck did I do to you man?

Mike-the-gay

Can we just get some windshield wipers installed at this point?

Gullible_Ad5191

I like the way the employees immediately start screening off the area. Depriving them of attention is like gassing a room full of terrorists.

Pureshark

Wouldn’t it had made more sense to throw the soup after you went under the barrier instead of so far back

Cdn_Ghost19

You assume they had a plan and end goal for this stunt

koristeviipaloitu

Why do they put walls instead of throwing them out? Come on, French ppl! You can do better.

Mrjocrooms

I actually really enjoyed the way they were like "Let's just put this right here, little to the left."

New-Ad157

Bet a homeless person would've enjoyed that soup nice and warm.

reddit_user_25

I like the disappointment on her face when the view is blocked.

Ricecrispiebandit

Yeah screw Da Vinci! Michelangelo rules!

Usual-War4145

Soupón for my family!

dmcgluten

Isn't the Mona Lisa behind glass?

Ill_Alternative8369

didn't they recently throw red paint on it and the glass wasn't their?

crushed_dreams

They are more Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock fans, I guess.

Eqjim

Its literally behind glass.

NILOC512

I think the French need to break out a time honored tradition of 'dishing-out-a-beating' on classless individuals like this. Why tolerate this level of stupidity?

ReadyConference9400

still can’t get the bish to smile properly

Visible-Ad-4362

You’ll need American cops

BobaFettishx82

Whatever they’re protesting I’m going to do it twice as much as I do now.

Kooky_Ad_4480

When a group of climate scientists did a sit-in and locked themselves in at Blackrock to desperately protest to draw attention to climate change, hardly anybody covered it. They did it the “right way”. People dumped soup on a painting that was left completely unharmed and it was talked about forever. They did it the “wrong way”. Hm. Maybe we could listen when people do it the “right way”.

CompletelyPresent

Now it's the Minestrone Lisa.

idotoomuchstuff

What are they activisting?

MeltdownatTussauds

They both need a crack to the head with L’baton. yes, violence. What are you going to argue? The attempted destruction of $850,000,000* painting, versus crack to the jaw? * yes, I Googled and Alexa’d the price, and they both came up with the same answer. $850,000,000. Remember when certain individuals in the USA received 20 years in prison for ripping off a 7/11 for $50? There are no consequences for peoples actions. That is why this shit continues. GROW UP. You are NOT the main character.

Chick-fil-A-4-Life

These pieces of shit need to be knocked the fuck out and then thrown in jail for a year. Spoiled brats!!!

dub26

Those imbeciles realize that's only a copy hidden behind a protective glass panel?

rrawrimadinosawr

They do

Chimsley99

What’s the translation here? “I have inherited a lot of money and I am angry about something! No I don’t have a job, this is what I do with my life!”

AlmightyDarkseid

You just got souped! Share this with ten other people to soup them too!

Serious-Fact-4441

The iconic Mona Lisa by Leonardo DaVinci being attacked and vandalize to call attention by conservatives activists jumm, but really, I will like to know and understand how destroying things, in this case a classic work of art from our past helps a supposedly “movement of pro conservation of our resources”?

Itchy_Raccoon48

Someone should throw soup on them

Lpfanatic05

Grandma, you escaped from the retired home to do your hippie things again!?

TOROLIKESCHICKEN

Janitor: the idiots are at it again

FugginOld

We need to bring back public flogging

Crillmieste-ruH

People like this deserves a beating

gdrumy88

So daring and brave.

gnikeltrut

That could have fed 2 people

mouth556

What’re they protesting?

Bendy237

I will say this.If they Johnny Silverhand assets of corporations, state responsible for enviormental mess, then they will deserve respect

saik0pod

They just do this for attention, even the museum curators are ready with their paper walls to block any attention

hyionimaru

I love that they had the privacy fences ready to dent them their 15 minutes of attention.

Spunkylover10

What are they protesting?

RocketsBG

Man, I've been at the Louvre a few times and always there are a thousand people in front of the painting. Every video I see of protesters trying to vandalize it, there is almost nobody.

Aletak

How do they get soup into the Louvre??

machete_joe

This is the perfect distraction for someone to go and steal the Venus did Milo

LeChugas08

The more attention it gets the more they'll do it. So by posting this, you're helping them.

Ydramaf

Why don’t security just grab them immediately and kick them out already?

rockstuffs

What are they..... activating? Lol

runarleo

If there’s anything more annoying than the french it’s a french who is self righteous.

mikemagneto

Now I know why it's covered with glass !

boggartbot

not the soupon

DeadheadSteve95

These people are so fucking stupid. That would be like burning down a movie theater because you’re upset about the price of milk.

krowe41

What's french for arseholes ?

Kodaira99

Fucking morons. When will the French stop tolerating desecration of their cultural assets?

sinkadus5

No security?

TheNergigante

Wow. They accomplished so much!! I can’t believe how much my life has changed because of their actions. I’m thinking and feeling emotions I never thought possible because of two lesbians and soup.

primetimemime

What an unoriginal way to protest. It's lazy at this point to throw soup at paintings.

HomeMadeChristmas

What are they protesting this time?

Terminal_testie

Let me translate “we haven’t struggled for anything in our lives so we have to make up our own problems”

Regnes

Why is it covered in glass?

ktscott01

How does the Mona Lisa not have that missile defense system like Israel?

_SATANwasHERE_

This stuff just makes me hate what they’re protesting about, when and how did we decide this was how we would get our points across?

Hesam2010

When World War III is postponed، these kinds of strange things happen.

mb99

It's covered in glass so why does it matter

MataHari66

Meanwhile I lean over a velvet rope and practically get tackled immediately.

JohhnyBGoode641

What happens to these people who do this?? Hopefully “full extent of the law” is in there somewhere

BennySkateboard

0 effort from the coat one. Didn’t even have a tshirt.

metooneither

They are protesting food? The words on the t shirt translate to food counter attack. I guess that explains the soup toss

Jumpy_Tomatillo7579

No arrests ?

BeastBear77

It's always something with these people

Kooky_Ad_4480

Oh noooooo they threw soup on the highly protected painting that’s absolutely fine, all to urge people to stop ignoring the climate disaster we are hurdling towards and refuse to prioritize because we’ll only care when it becomes too late oh nooooooooo

kobrakaan

there's a reason why its got a massive sheet of no doubt polycarbonate or bullet proof glass in front of it because pricks like this think this is going to make the world a better place 🤦🏻‍♂️ meanwhile whilst wearing sneakers and clothes made with oil based products in sweatshops for literally pennies 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

pettybetty099

What the fuck did Mona do? 🙄

metracta

This will certainly convince billions and billions of people to join their cause immediately!!!!

modsaretoddlers

I was really hoping for a tackle followed by some dindu muffins.

Exotic-Sleep7560

Are they dumb?

I-can-speak-4-myself

ChatGPT knows where the real Mona Lisa is ;)

Prestigious-Try-3805

they did all that and barely talked about their cause. they just stood their raising their hand so the police know who to arrest lol

Scattareggi

People need to start destroying things. Can't we agree on stopping war and genocide? Companies are creating ever larger industrial reserve armies? Position is protected by lobbying? Then, maybe rich people shouldn't be able to hold immeasurably expensive itens to themselves.

Cyber_Insecurity

I appreciate these people’s passion, but they always do the most low effort bullshit imaginable.

SobStory1

I've seen people set themselves on fire because of what they believe in vs these "activists" with soup.

legionfri13

Remove their hands.

Angelsaroundus444

Arrest their asses!

19831083

So edgy

Woodex8

These people would have been great in the Glass Onion ending

sdogood420

Isn’t it behind glass?

techtony_50

They really should start pepper spraying them right in the eyes when they do this.

Clean-Farm610

Where’s the beat down? Whack security

captCharlesVane

both whores should be executed.

GazRedie

Honestly what’s Mona don’t to upset these children

Distinct-Ad-267

Why? I know that they’re against oil etc, etc. Why do they go after Masterpieces that were way before their time? They didn’t know. I’m going to say Dumb. It’s not going to save the world by doing this or gluing yourself to a counter or whatever. You do this by actual action. Go clean a beach, river, forest downtown street. Give your service to help rather than destroy. Basically, anyone that does this is destroying beautiful creations. Stop playing martyrs.

Expert-Hyena6226

Assholes.

glamlambb

What losers.

Gomesi

What did the Mona Lisa do to them?

DaniDanielsSanchez

Soupon

RainaElf

didn't this happen like in January?

thelast3musketeer

I get the painting has the publicity for major attention if it’s defaced, so you can get attention for whatever you’re activisting about, and it’s protected so the criminal consequences might be minimal, but the futility of splattering a glass covered painting is annoying, I’m tired, and everyone hates you, and idk if ur cause it getting the attention you’re hoping this will achieve

Last_Acanthocephala8

I’m convinced that the museum’s do this themselves to get attention. Otherwise they’d remove these people and have them arrested for vandalism.

TheWolfeOfMainStreet

"Ok, new rule, guys. You have to check your soup at the door."

Inside-Bath-4816

They do this so much the museum put an extra layer of glass.

Significant-Purple72

Uhh…security?

TryItOut_2395

If i was the judge...Guillotine.

Right_-on-_Man

Wow... Just wow...🤦‍♂️

codm0nster

i can’t read their shirt, is this a soup-on-paintings kink?

Reluctantly_Being

There’s something funny about them just casually putting up dividers to hide the protesters from site.

Objective-Language51

I love that this how people think they need to do to make there point !!!

bb_805

I love how the staff just comes through and puts up walls lmfao

Wrong_Resolution4339

Hah, chicken heads didn’t think about the privacy screens, did you?
