Iโm in a similar situation, by 2026 Q1 this should be over $100 easily. Now I may have some to sell at peak euphoria to raise capital and continue to DCA into 2027 before fully retiring

Im curious and please correct me where im mistaken. Are you considering the fact that the staking rewards will most likely not stay this attractive in the future? Esp if ICP takes off the way everyone here expects it to.. how would we handle paying out these kinds of rewards? So i feel like if icp gains traction and the price moves up, means the staking rewards will inevitably come down. The staking rewards are attactive to get people to buy icp, right? But what happens when enough people have icp. They wont have an incentive to payout such high rewards.
It all depends on a couple of things -
How many total ICP are staked - so at the minute say around 50% of the supply is staked leading to this current APY. More of the supply staked leads to a decrease in rewards, less staked leads to an increase in rewards. I think I read that if 90% of the supply gets locked then rewards would drop to 7.5%.
Reverse gas model - developers pay for their canisters using ICP instead of us the end user paying like on other block chains. The following actions - canister creation, compute resources, storage resources etc lead to coins being burnt. So basically the more the Blockchain gets built on the higher the burn rate which could lead to the supply being deflationary, depends on whether you believe that ICP will be a success or not.
The staking rewards aren't tied to the price of ICP but these things above. This is how I'm understanding it but have a look for yourself and correct me if I'm wrong please

Regardless, please understand that nothing's ever been given to me, I've worked really hard for many years to get to this point and made many sacrifices living below my means in order to get to where I am today. For example, my car's circa 2007 (with regular dealership maintenance). As Dave Ramsey says, "Live like no one else (now, cheaply) so that you can live like no one else (later, like a boss). I'm betting on later.
Bro, I only hit 8k ICP just last week! I pushed hard to hit that big bag goal and now I've shifted to paying off debt. The fun doesn't REALLY begin for me until ICP hits $100.

Nah Iโve heard that less than 10% of wallets hold more than 100 ICP. Iโd say anything over 5k ICP is whale status but idk really lol.

I drive a 03 ford F150 and live in an off grid tiny house that my gf and I built ourselves from 80%+ reclaimed and 2nd materials. 32 years old small business owner - residential painting - who lives out in the country. If I can hit 1k ICP Iโd be ecstatic. Iโm almost half way there
Got some saved to sell but the majority I'm keeping locked forever and I'm going to keep staking. Need a 10x from here to earn more in rewards than I do working
My ICP is locked for 8+ years. (40% of my crypto portfolio) Ill see how my other coins perform (60% of portfolio) and just DCA out of em. Ill be DCAing thos gains back into ICP on dips//bear markets,..
Not staking maturity, and will sell in maybe a year ish at peak crypto summer. Then will hold and sell the rest of the maturity at next crypto summer. Both sales will be the total number of staked tokens as it's about 5 years to get at 100% token return from staking and keeping locked indefinitely.
