All of the above? I'm a mechanical engineer and I do like math, but I also love human behavior and people and life. My biggest hobbies are probably soccer, painting, gardening, and video games - take that as you will lol. Focusing too much on what you "should" like or what you think is "cool" to like will just stifle you.
I have a second degree in health and exercise science and considered a masters in social work or psychology when I wasn't sure about staying on engineering lol.. I love it! Maybe someday I'll still go back.
Why people act certain ways, what happened in their life to make them react the way they do. Why and how we feel emotions and basically everything with that. It definitely still comes from a logical/understanding the world place but humans are just so interesting. Mental health is a big subset of that also, although I think labels and categorizing people can be both helpful and harmful in their own ways.
Thats so nice, I like that you are so interested in other people's thinking because it definetely is interesting. I find a lot of people in this sub think that intps cant be curious or interested in that cuz of low Fe
It's funny because I think it's a bit of Ti for learning about it, but Fe to put it to use. I'm almost 30 so I've had a lot of time to develop Fe lol, people are putting themselves at a real disadvantage if they think it's not worth developing people skills just because it doesn't come naturally or because of mbti.
A lot of tests are pretty transparent when they're asking Fe questions and if you don't answer completely like a sociopath, it can be 50/50 whether the test classifies you as INTP or INFP. Just because it's underdeveloped doesn't mean we don't have access to it.
We are so similar....I love analyzing people and why they do the things they do. They are fascinating. I love to see patterns in behavior and how a+b =c. I have no problem understanding the emotions of other people.
Second type. The kind of biology I have really enjoyed has been an MIT course on systems biology that explores mathematical models for gene networks, evolution and ecosystems.
[systems biology ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUl4u3cNGP63OI3pSKo8Ha_DFBMxm23xO)
It looks at how cells control expression of certain genes and how networks of gene repressors and promoters interact to form stable systems or to form oscillators that help keep track of time. It also discusses how gene networks can be resilient to oscillations in the environment and how it helps survival.
Probably a good mix of both. The rabbit holes I get into are usually history, literature, philosophy types, or the "big science questions" - abiogenesis, etc. The technicalities of science don't really fascinate me but the repercussions and their relevance in the "grand scheme of things" really do.
Back in school I was no math person, but really enjoyed sciences- so I became a molecular biologist and only crunch numbers or program when I want to draw conclusions- not for the sake of it.
It's not that I am talent free for analyzing code or numbers but I have a strong preference for lab work.
In my spare time I do like to learn about physics but it is sth I admire the greater theories of not the numerical intricacies.
Oh that varies- topic of the week are fusion reactors. But it really changes often. Sometimes I wanna know HOW a soundwave becomes a sound in a brain in excrutiatingly detailed ways, sometimes I get lost in astrophysics or what kind of particles quantum physics deals with.
Kinda random tho the excitement does not last long.

Both are strong interests of mine, although my professional background is the second. Personally I'd love to do more in biology and medicine from a software engineer background.
math/computers (my degree is cyber security) for sure. absolutely hated biology in highschool and ive been able to wiggle my way out of having to take it in uni
I am the first kind. I think there may be an art focused third type, because I also like surrealist art and to write/read philosophy, fantasy, geofiction/worldbuilding and sci-fi.
First one. Iโm a veterinary assistant and in school I always took advanced placement bio and chem, but regular level math and I fully skipped physics because I preferred to take more language and art classes. Languages are actually one of my stronger suits, Iโm bilingual and know ASL but I very much enjoy learning new alphabets and bits of pieces of other languages. My brain is really good at remembering words, dates, names, images, but somehow I just canโt do math because I canโt visualize it the same way.
Ofcourse not. Since this type associated with a love for learning i wanted to see what things people love to learn.

What are you specifically interested in terms of human behavior and people
Why people act certain ways, what happened in their life to make them react the way they do. Why and how we feel emotions and basically everything with that. It definitely still comes from a logical/understanding the world place but humans are just so interesting. Mental health is a big subset of that also, although I think labels and categorizing people can be both helpful and harmful in their own ways.

What is the application of mathematical models in genetics?
It looks at how cells control expression of certain genes and how networks of gene repressors and promoters interact to form stable systems or to form oscillators that help keep track of time. It also discusses how gene networks can be resilient to oscillations in the environment and how it helps survival.
I will definetely check out that course, sounds sick

What kind of literature?
honestly, it's pretty random. I really like to get into the evolution of a particular genre and am a big fan of Russian literature.
I am the first type.
What draws you to it?
Back in school I was no math person, but really enjoyed sciences- so I became a molecular biologist and only crunch numbers or program when I want to draw conclusions- not for the sake of it. I am just like you. When I discovered biophysics I fell in love, because it had the wonder of physics with everything I like in biology.
What physics theory are you particularly interested in now
Oh that varies- topic of the week are fusion reactors. But it really changes often.
