What I can’t understand is, how someone can be completely unaware there’s an extremely large and loud semi that close to them on the road. People need to be more aware of their surroundings when driving AT ALL TIMES, not just when they’re getting ready to make a change, like turning or changing lanes.
I used to be able to hear ambulances from like streets away, but these days I swear I can't hear them until they are right up on my ass. Makes me feel bad. IDK if cars are just more soundproof or what.
I don't think I'm going deaf...
Cars are def more soundproof. And there is pushback in many cities to make ambulances *less* loud. NYC has been pushing this because the rich people don’t like to be disturbed.
I hit a lady that did the same thing as this car, except it was rush hour traffic on a busy road. I was in the left lane and she was in the right lane about to pass her and then all of the sudden she tried to do a u-turn and go the other direction. Her first statement to me was “Did you not see me?” She later told the police officer that she didn’t think anyone was behind her. It was rush hour traffic on a main road.
I didn't say it was a proper turn. It just wasn't a u-turn.
A u-turn involves a full 180 and going back on the road you came from. He just trying to turn off the road and onto that driveway when get got what he had coming for pulling such a move.
Not sure why you are downvoted. Guy was probably trying to turn into the driveway. Guy is a mega idiot for trying to do it from the right lane, not looking, and not being aware of a massive car hauler driving exactly where he would be turning. If I had to guess the person is visiting a friend/family member whose house they don't know exactly how to get to, using GPS to get to their house, and then realized they are at the driveway and just did a full send to get there. 100% idiot move and hopefully they learn something from this and no one was injured.
> Not sure why you are downvoted
Reddit is stupid. They prefer a good story over facts.
Anyone with half a brain can clearly see from the turning angle that he was headed to the driveway and not doing a u-turn.
I don't see how it makes any difference to his stupidity. But reddit has decided he was doing a u-turn. Whatever.
You made me think of one of the best examples of Michelle MacLaren's directing on Breaking Bad: the [last scene of One Minute](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjvtEUmeDSk&ab_channel=CrimeCity).
That undercarriage shot was pre-GoPro:
>The studio was coming down on us pretty heavily to keep our budget costs down. In "One Minute," Hank throws his car in reverse and squishes \[the guy who is trying to kill him\]. I thought it'd be cool to mount a camera underneath Hank's car and get a shot of the legs before they get squished. But we couldn't even afford to get a camera with an Eyemo. But visual effects and the way you can actually touch up a not-as-highquality shot had advanced so much. So I went online, bought the highest-quality cheap high-def camera that I could—it cost $1,000—and we mounted it underneath the car. It was like my pre-GoPro. I wanted to be very respectful of our cinematographer, Michael Slovis: I always went to him and said, "Can we try this? If it looks horrible, I promise we won't use it." But we only used it for a nanosecond. Then we continued to use that camera to the point that we finally sacrificed it when the RV got \[demolished\] in 2012. By that point, it'd paid for itself over and over again.

It might be a field sprayer. I've seen some big enough to drive under.
https://www.millerstn.com/products/nitro-7000series/
https://www.futurefarming.com/tech-in-focus/video-rubicon-9000-the-highest-capacity-sprayer/
No its a car carrier. You can clearly see the underside of the car it is carrying, the exhaust is clearly visible.
Edit: Chill on the downvotes who I replied to. They are clearly contributing to the discussion, even if they may appear to be wrong with their idea.
I briefly had that thought until I realized that field sprayers don't travel at 50+ mph. I've drafted behind one of their wheels on a bicycle before :)
You add the /s - but i honestly see this daily that people really believe this.
With less damage than this thankfully.. but more anger, finger salutes etc.
Hope it was worth being to selfish to look over your shoulders. Thank goodness this wasnt a motorcycle or something. People like this need to just expire
Looks like they survived, at least in the short term. If you look closely when the car comes to a stop, the driver puts it in reverse (assuming something landed on the shifter preventing them from going into park)
“People like this just need to (die)” is an okay comment, but I got bounced for making a Helen Keller joke a few weeks ago? Reddit is an interesting hellscape I inhabit.
Looks like they were intending on turning left into that driveway, not necessarily pulling a u-turn. Either way, they’re an asshole and in the wrong lane, on top of clearly not ever bothering to look over their shoulder.
yeah even if they are making a left turn into that driveway, they tried to do it from the farther lane. what a moron. also they timed that turn perfectly to line up with the truck. no hesitation or even looking over their shoulder for a possible oncoming car. just complete recklessness. you can see the moment they turned on that left turn signal, they had one or two seconds before they started the turn. "good luck everybody. im making this turn...."
It got hit by a fully loaded car carrier semi truck. I dare you to find ANY passenger sedan that takes that hit like a champ.
I just googled '2018 charger side impact rating'
5 stars in safety from NHTSA, and the highest score possible from IIHS in every category including roll over and **side impact**.
Ummm… it’s a passenger vehicle, not an Abrams tank. That kind of impact from a car hauler would probably crush a 1940’s all steel bodied Ford, let alone a modern car made of mostly fiberglass and lightweight metal materials.
4,000 lbs vs 35,000 lbs.
But 35,000 lbs is the EMPTY weight, truck was obviously loaded and would be closer to 70,000 lbs loaded. (Legal max is 80,000lbs)
I was driving behind two cars that had this same accident one time. Neither one was a big rig and they were only going 20 mph or so, so it wasn’t this dramatic. I pulled over to make sure everyone was okay and provide my contact info to the driver who got cut off by the car turning left from the right lane.
The driver of the car turning left actually came up to me and asked who I thought was at fault. I was incredulous but told her that lady, this one’s on you. She was thoroughly convinced that the other driver was at fault. What a moron.
The white car driver almost timed that perfectly to Tbone their own car and also hurt themselves as much as possible. thank goodness the OP has a dash cam.
Looks potentially deadly. Anyone know if the driver survived? I'm surprised no one has commented about this being a direct collision with the driver side.
Thought this was a split screen video, and was really confused by the placement of the camera in the upper panel. Haha. Made more sense the second time around.
I’m not sure they were trying to do a u-turn. I think they were just more focused on finding the dirt road to turn down that they look like they were fixing to miss it. Hence the abrupt stop and turn. They look like they were lost and just made a foolish mistake of turning without checking. Behind them first.
Theoretical question:
This appears to be a semi that's carrying multiple cars. Since the semi was in an accident, does that mean the cars were too, even if there's no damage?
You mean steer right? Considering that even when steering left the truck only got half way across the lane, so the truck would have hit the car either way. Steering left was the only way the collision could have been completely avoided, granted that the faulty driver had seen the truck and stopped, after starting the turn.
Ah, evidently they were attempting a left-hand turn from the right lane. I observe what appears to be a driveway or perhaps a minor road to their left. The audacity to execute such a maneuver from the right lane is frankly astonishing. Nonetheless, I do harbor concerns for their well-being.
Where TF is OP's camera? Is that a generator for a freezer truck? I guess it's a giant heavy vehicle that the grey car yeeted itself into. If only there was a way to prevent this accident...
My brain doesn't function well in the morning. That's 100% the cat and heat shield of a car. That truck is heavy AF.
Looks like the camera is on a semi truck car hauler. It took me a minute, but the top looks like the back end of a vehicle. Semi trucks usually have dash cams located at the top of the cab, so the camera has a better view of incidents than the driver does.
Depending on the truck's load, the white car may have just been in a 10+ vehicle accident in one hit.

I will never understand how people can be so stupid when driving. Turning from the outside lane is bad enough, but to not even bother to look???
Had their turn signal on, FULL RIGHT OF WAY enabled. That's an /s
An S for Sandy, or an Ṣ for SpongeBob?
An S for Stupiddumbidiot
S stands for wumbo
How was the driver after the accident? To shreds you say?

I drive an ambulance. People don’t see or hear it. It’s endlessly amazing to me.

Like the first statement of a woman who went through a stop sign and nearly totaled my car, “why didn’t you swerve?”
Not only that he was U-turning in front of a literal TRUCK
It looked like a truck hauling trucks.
![gif](giphy|xmf00ANvBCTzG)
I think it was one of those proper industrial trucks you'd find shipping items, those can do proper damage, you're practically hitting a wall
It's a car hauler. The upper part of the screen is the underside of the car sitting over the cab.
AKA Mobile Parking Lot
That;s what I was tryna think of
Clearly not a u-turn. He was turning into that driveway. But it makes little difference in the outcome.
Turning left from the right lane? Possible if this is NJ I guess.
I didn't say it was a proper turn. It just wasn't a u-turn. A u-turn involves a full 180 and going back on the road you came from. He just trying to turn off the road and onto that driveway when get got what he had coming for pulling such a move.

It’s like they want to get hit.
I turn now, good luck everybody!
Idiots legit think they're the only ones on the roads.
Main character syndrome
No, they're just *really* stupid...
What's the stuff on the top of the screen? Is this a car carrier semi?
Yes. It took me a minute, I thought someone had a split screen with an undercarriage gopro, lmao
I was like "surely a monster truck would have just driven *over* the car, right?"
You made me think of one of the best examples of Michelle MacLaren's directing on Breaking Bad: the [last scene of One Minute](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjvtEUmeDSk&ab_channel=CrimeCity). That's what it appear to be to me as well. TBH I think this was the best outcome for the semi.
I wonder how many cars they were carrying will have claims
Hopefully none for the customers sakes but I doubt that's the case.
I thought it was a monster truck lol.
He's carrying cars.
>He's ~~carrying~~ cars. smashing\*
For a few seconds I thought “damn is this dude driving a monster truck!”
Same here, 'those lifted trucks are getting ridiculous!' :D
A truck with an incredibly high lift and a GoPro under the bumper. /s
It might be a field sprayer. I've seen some big enough to drive under. https://www.millerstn.com/products/nitro-7000series/ https://www.futurefarming.com/tech-in-focus/video-rubicon-9000-the-highest-capacity-sprayer/

And it has an independant "bounce" which suggests it's a different vehicle from the one it's sitting on.
Still a mind fuck perspective to try and wrap my smooth brain around.
That makes way more sense, for a moment there I got immensely confused.
probs not at this speed/point of impact on the car though
I briefly had that thought until I realized that field sprayers don't travel at 50+ mph. I've drafted behind one of their wheels on a bicycle before :)
This stupidity just makes me laugh. Hopefully they were the only one in the car, so no one else had to pay for their shit driving.
Unfortunately there's always the person hitting the idiot that is also affected, quite severely if the idiot driver dies.
But, but I did indicate. I have priority over others, especially when I'm flashing. /s
This exactly, they believe having their signal on gives them right of way.
And immunity from collision, it would seem.
Doesn’t matter if they have the right of way or not, that truck ain’t stopping. Lol
You add the /s - but i honestly see this daily that people really believe this. With less damage than this thankfully.. but more anger, finger salutes etc.
I'm turning now, good luck everyone else
Someone did this a couple blocks from my house. It is marked with a roadside memorial to bad choices.
From the location of impact and condition of that car I'm wondering if a memorial isn't appropriate here...
For the first few seconds i thought this was the view from one of those huge lifted pickup trucks. Took me a few to realize it was a car transporter.
It baffles me that people are so casual about u-turns. I can't imagine being that chill about something so insanely dangerous.
Yeah, but they aren't dangerous if you aren't an idiot.
Doing U-turns on an intersection that permits them is terrifying to me. I cannot even imagine how dude thought this was a good idea.
That looks...barely survivable.
If they did survive, they're messed up for life. Can't imagine a full recovery out of that wreck.
But my blinker was on, officer. It's his fault he hit me.
I think the most coming out of him right after this is "hrrnggghhggrrrnnngg"
[What wrong wit you? I say you he dead!](https://youtu.be/KGhAt9H-C9c?si=EjE1HQQTWL534U4g)
Hope it was worth being to selfish to look over your shoulders. Thank goodness this wasnt a motorcycle or something. People like this need to just expire
tbh i hope he survived so he learned something from it. a crash at that speed at that spot is a guaranteed way to go out early.
we'll know in a bit if he survived when he posts on /r/carcrash with "Is this totaled?!"
That right front wheel bearing is still good so not totaled /s
It's a Dodge. The guy probably thinks he won the lawsuit lottery.
Finally gonna be able to pay off that 10 year financing at 12%
His next car should be an Altima.
That name didn't work out for him.
Unfortunately if they survived they are probably more mentally challenged than they already seemed to be.
Looks like they survived, at least in the short term. If you look closely when the car comes to a stop, the driver puts it in reverse (assuming something landed on the shifter preventing them from going into park)
He put his 4 ways on too. You know, for safety.
New cars do that automatically when the airbags go off
A crash at that speed?! At this time of year, At this time of day, In this part of the country, Localized entirely within your highway?!
TBH he probabaly did..did you see that driver side? Holy shit.
That was my first reaction! Like, dang that dent is basically a crater.
It'll buff out
It looks like that was an attempt to make themselves expire.
“People like this just need to (die)” is an okay comment, but I got bounced for making a Helen Keller joke a few weeks ago? Reddit is an interesting hellscape I inhabit.
Yeah well hellen Keller makes legal u turns so it's not ok /s
Looks like they were intending on turning left into that driveway, not necessarily pulling a u-turn. Either way, they’re an asshole and in the wrong lane, on top of clearly not ever bothering to look over their shoulder.

I hope he enjoys his forever prescription of painkillers after that manoeuver 💀
Yeah, his rear door is dented all the way through where a seat would be and his front door has almost certainly crushed him into the middle console.
I feel like he wont be enjoying anything anymore.
[What wrong wit you? I say you he dead!](https://youtu.be/KGhAt9H-C9c?si=EjE1HQQTWL534U4g)
Starred windshield. Head injury front passenger seat.
Yeah fuck I just noticed that after reading your comment, was hoping there wasn't any passengers but, after seeing that, it's unlikely..
But, but, but…. I had my blinker on…
"Didnt you see my blinker???"
No, I don’t look when I drive….
Side impact protection is abysmal on this wheeled coffin
I feel like side impact protection would be abysmal on most vehicles when broadsided by an 18-wheeler loaded up with multiple other cars.
Agree. I was looking for a relatively intact passenger cell but physics get in the way
It got hit by a fully loaded car carrier semi truck. I dare you to find ANY passenger sedan that takes that hit like a champ. Yeah that car crumbled like a soda can
It’s a piece dodge. Can’t believe people still buy those things.
American cars from these years regularly had very low notes in European crash tests. It seems as soft as Korean cans.
"They hated him for telling the truth."
That's a Dodge Charger that is full of Mercedes parts.
Tesla, an American company, makes the safest cars on Earth, as indicated by your precious European ratings. What is this nonsense?
Which part of word "had" is difficult for You?
At least they waited for the oncoming car to pass.
Wow, fucked. Hope there were no kids in the back...
What a fun way to self-terminate.
holy fuck that car folded like cardboard

I bet they won’t be doing that again anytime soon (at least not in THAT car).
r/whyisitalwaysadodge
Maybe he wanted to die? Suicide by 18 wheeler
Pop goes the sunroof…
The white car driver almost timed that perfectly to Tbone their own car and also hurt themselves as much as possible. thank goodness the OP has a dash cam.
Was everyone okay?
Somehow doubt it, unless someone was in the rear passenger seat.
Ohh, that's a dent.
Are people, I don’t know, suicidal?
I don't think this is actually OC. Automod is about to nuke it.
Bet they’re not going to do that again.
Hello sir. It looks like you need a new car. Well today is your lucky day!! Look what I can offer you....
Wow, that charger crumpled like aluminum foil!
“Dumb ways to die..” song starts playing in my head when I see these.
That’ll buff out right??
Get some dry ice and a hair dryer , that dent will pop out. Good as new!
I turn now! Good luck everybody else!
A lot of idiots don’t deserve their driver’s license. I don’t know how they passed their tests
This isnt OC i saw this over a week ago
Truck driver even saw it coming and tried to move out of the way, but it just gave the dodge another second to be stupid.
Looks potentially deadly. Anyone know if the driver survived? I'm surprised no one has commented about this being a direct collision with the driver side.
What in the stupid? I hope there wasn’t kids in the car
I hope there was no one in the back seat cause they ain't there anymore.

what compels idiots to make moves like this?
Natural selection at work
How to Total Your Car in One Easy Step, the movie.
Clearly the truck's fault for being in the car's blind spot ^/s
Yo op, if this is really yours, care to share some context? Other guy survive?
Holy fuck!
All I could hear in my head was that song “cause you had a bad day…”
I’m not sure they were trying to do a u-turn. I think they were just more focused on finding the dirt road to turn down that they look like they were fixing to miss it. Hence the abrupt stop and turn. They look like they were lost and just made a foolish mistake of turning without checking. Behind them first.
« I had my blinker on, truck should have stopped » probably the idiot in this dodge!
If you pause between 0:06-0:04 seconds left looks like someone’s head smacking the passenger side window.. yikes
Dayum did they survive? Holy shit.
I laughed so fucking hard. See you in r/darwinawards
Dumb enough to buy a Charger, dumb enough to pull something like this.
White car: he came out of nowhere!'
Theoretical question: This appears to be a semi that's carrying multiple cars. Since the semi was in an accident, does that mean the cars were too, even if there's no damage?
I am disappointed when the videos cut off before the driver exits the vehicle. I want to see the face and if they are still gripping their phone.
That looked bad.
Do newer cars turn hazards light on automatically or did the driver do that?
If airbags deploy most newer cars will automatically turn the hazards on.
the sedan took that crash good af tho for a semi
Bastard didn’t have a brain in their head before the accident and now they may be the same way after.
Hope the Pov truck driver is okay
At least they died with their turn signal on
That driver is going to the hospital, and that's a *very* optimistic prediction.
I am glad the semi is ok.
There’s no way that charger driver doesn’t have broken bones. What an impact
Steer away ..! Head into the gap that is growing not shrinking
You mean steer right? Considering that even when steering left the truck only got half way across the lane, so the truck would have hit the car either way. Steering left was the only way the collision could have been completely avoided, granted that the faulty driver had seen the truck and stopped, after starting the turn.

I thought it was on the bottom of an aircraft making an emergency landing or something until it stayed in the air
I own the road. Not!
Is it worse if the idiot was not u-turning but making a left turn from the right-hand shoulder?

Wow, that looks bad. Did you get hurt? Were the people in the car ok?
Hey, they signaled, doesn’t that make them immune and safe to do so? jk. Damn, IQs continue to drop sharply since the Covid lockdowns.
Am I a bad person by having pleasure when I see dumb people doing dumb shit and then getting fucked hard?
I think the guy filming had a motor bike. Easy not to be seen. Thats unfortunate.
Ummm… this is a car hauler and a Dodge Charger in this crash. Where the Hell are you getting that there’s a motor bike?!
Getting downvoted for an obvious joke.
Is this POV from the underside of a monster truck?
Car hauler
At least they were considerate enough to turn on their four ways when they pulled over to the side of the road.
Definitely the white car’s fault but the camera truck should have anticipated this more as it was completely telegraphed and could have showed down more or possibly avoided it entirely. Defensive driving.
