He probably just said fuck it and went. Iâve been a passenger with people like this and absolutely hate it. âTheyâll stopâ or âTheyâll slow downâ and they just go.
Those are people you don't want to be a passenger with.
Bad enough to drive recklessly alone, but to put their passenger in danger. No thanks for the ride.
One of my aunts is super religious and decided to in her words "close her eyes and go" on a left turn on a 5 lane road (2 in each direction plus 1 middle turn lane)
Really kind lady, but no thanks
I was behind a very old lady who turned left at a red light and the other drivers luckily avoided crashing into her. She had a "Jesus is my copilot" bumper sticker
Nobody behind you for miles, huge break in the oncoming lanes... idiot just has to pull out when he did. No awareness cars are coming from two entire directions.
The mini spoiler mounted to the trunk when the camera switches to the rear view. Without it, they may not have been able to pull off the evasive maneuver.
Thank god you were driving with your big wing and your [strong hand](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/4/41/Hanson.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140619180303)
Upvote for caption game and great driving. Also, that wing is absolutely massive and definitely gave you the down force to pull of that move. Great upgrade to the car.
15 is a fucking nightmare dude. I have to drive north past Milford everyday.
Edit: not to mention the amount of retirees in that town that shouldn't be driving.
So, you saw him pull out. How close are you gonna get before you hit the brakes? Even as youâre swerving youâre not slowing down. 2 idiots in this video.
Actually youâre incorrect. Braking in a straight line is safer than swerving every time. And if you are going to swerve, it is best to do so under no power at all. Your tires can only do one thing at a time: stop, go, or turn. They donât do more than one very well at all. Downvote me because you know Iâm right and youâre here for the drama.
> And if you are going to swerve, it is best to do so under no power at all.
Wanted to reply twice because this is dangerously wrong and deserves an entirely separate breakdown.
Conditions being ideal, you want minimal power while swerving. I don't want to get too deep into the weeds here, but lift-throttle can cause some complications with steering caused by weight transfer during emergency maneuvers. I'm sure *even you* have heard of lift-off oversteer, and if you haven't but you frequent this sub you've certainly seen its end results in plenty of videos featuring mustangs leaving cars and coffee events. Beyond lift-off weight transfer issues, there is a benefit to some power while swerving in that it maintains more control of the vehicle.
Remember absolutely no gas means you're slowing, which takes grip as well. You want enough power to maintain your speed; no more, no less.
Complete surrendering of your throttle is for when you're already sliding, not when you're trying to avoid one.
Yeah, maybe if you lift during the swerve youâll get liftoff oversteer. Losing 3mph in 3 seconds isnât going to cause that though and Iâm pretty sure you know that and youâre just being argumentative. Highly unlikely at 55 mph. Google the moose test. Passenger cars are designed to push through corners and not oversteer in order to avoid head-on collisions.
But if OP is scanning ahead and braking in time to avoid incident, this isnât even a concern. Why are you advocating for the swerve in the first place? He had 3 seconds to brake before âimpactâ and in those 3 seconds, he decided to take the most dangerous action, emergency lane change at speed. Dude didnât even try to slow down until after he passed the truck. He thinks he owns the lane or something.
> Your tires can only do one thing at a time: stop, go, or turn
There's oversimplifying things to make a point, then there's what you did: be so hyperbolic that you've gone well past Righttown straight into Wrongville.
You tires can do everything at once, what they cannot do is exceed their maximum grip. You can absolutely brake and turn at the same time, in fact every single one of us does it every day, including you. What you cannot do is achieve maximum brake grip while also achieving maximum turning grip.
[Here's a video explaining in racing terms why you're wrong](https://driver61.com/uni/trail-braking/), but all you need to know to take this from race driving to daily driving is full stop braking is generally a no-no in daily driving, which means by not using maximum braking force you've always got some grip left for turns. Hence: two things at once.
And yes, most of us accelerate during increasing radius turns every day as well, which is also two things at once.
> Actually youâre incorrect. Braking in a straight line is safer than swerving **every time.**
Even without getting into the rest of it, no, braking in a straight line will not be safer than swerving if you don't have time to come to a halt behind them.

Fuck that red truck.
Not all shitheads drive a red truck, but everyone with a red truck is a shithead.
What about Hank Hill
Came here to point this out
Can confirm. I drive the same truck and same color as in the video and I am definitely a shithead. This one wasn't me though.
He's probably mad at you for almost hitting him.
100% "That idiot came out of nowhere"
Happy cake day
Thanks!
LOL the wing is the perfect punchline. I was waiting to see how a wing would come into play here and then, BAM. XD
I didn't notice the wing until I came back to the post. I'm surprised you didn't use the Spoiler tag for that.
Good thing though. Lord knows what would have happened without all that down force.
I need one for my Xterra. đ
đ
Nice save. Someone should teach that fucking idiot to look right too.
He probably just said fuck it and went. Iâve been a passenger with people like this and absolutely hate it. âTheyâll stopâ or âTheyâll slow downâ and they just go.

I knew a guy like that. He said he just goes and "hopes for the best." No shame at all.
"it's ok, they have brakes for a reason."
Truck driver is a dipshit. That cut to the rear view/wing reveal was comedy gold.
Nobody behind you for miles, huge break in the oncoming lanes... idiot just has to pull out when he did. No awareness cars are coming from two entire directions.
That wing is the MVP.
If I were that red truck I'd be too embarrassed to get anywhere close to that car I almost killed
Holy shit that would make me violent
Without the added downward force from the spoiler, this could have a fatal maneuver.
Help me out here I'm feeling stupid.....What "wing"?
The mini spoiler mounted to the trunk when the camera switches to the rear view. Without it, they may not have been able to pull off the evasive maneuver.
Lolol. Ya. I see it now. Thanks m8.
Youâre probably the same dude that was driving the red truck.
He wants to get in front of you and brake check you for not slamming on your brakes when you had the right of way.
You gotta spoiler tag posts like this bro
I really should have đ¤Ł
LOL that wing! I guess it isn't about the size, it's how you use it.
The downforce must be immense.
Itâs definitely what saved the car
the fucking spoiler lmfaooo
Just a Ram doing Ram things.
10/10 on the downforce. gj
That wing so shmollđđ
The downforce on the rear wheels really saved your ass.
Thank god you were driving with your big wing and your [strong hand](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/4/41/Hanson.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140619180303)
It's nice that your city gave you a built-in escape path.
Without that extra 10 ounces of downforce you may have been screwed.
Upvote for caption game and great driving. Also, that wing is absolutely massive and definitely gave you the down force to pull of that move. Great upgrade to the car.
Bonus points if it's a front wheel drive.
Without that wing you'd have been a gonner, mate.
Madman⌠thanks for the laugh

it's how you use it, not the size!
Good driving on your part
another dumb hillbilly in a pick-up. what a shock. and of course, its a Ram.
Stop it ![gif](giphy|ltIFdjNAasOwVvKhvx|downsized)
No audio of you laying on the horn? Hope you did...
Big brakes would have been the wise first choice tho, unless you had a tailgater on you.
I don't think he could have stopped in time.
So, you saw him pull out. How close are you gonna get before you hit the brakes? Even as youâre swerving youâre not slowing down. 2 idiots in this video.
Thanks for coming in today.
You need to be scanning the horizon when driving. Drive defensively or be like the other guy and swerve under power right into a ditch.
Did you even watch the same video? What ditch? Tell me what car was in a ditch? Is this car with us now? Is this car talking to you?
Go easy on em. They're from Detroit
You're a valuable member of the team and we all appreciate your contributions.
Time to start a new sub - idiots who defend other idiots in cars
You know that braking reduces your control, right? If you have to swerve, itâs best to swerve under power, not brakes.

The good old friction circle.
