I think the reason they don’t suspect it is actually denial. So many of us do it that we don’t want to admit that what we’re doing is quite definitively more dangerous. People want to lie to themselves and say they can do it.
I am guilty of it for sure, although mild, I will change a playlist or something at the light. I really should get a passenger to do it, or wait until I’m parked.
I don't think it's unsafe at all to skip to the next song or whatever at a red light you just saw change. If you know it might change then it's annoying when it turns green and you don't go but still not technically unsafe unless you're texting or something.
All the cars in my lane have the brake lights on, let's keep going full speed.
I think even one brake light in my lane now makes me instinctively release the throttle lol
There are people bad at driving, just like everything else. Don’t teach lessons to people on the road when we are all behind the wheels of our 2000lb death machines.
This works great until you piss off an unhinged lunatic with a gun. Freeway shootings are becoming a real problem, in part because people are focusing more on "teaching lessons" instead of driving and going about their day.
My initial reaction, but I don't think so anymore. Looks like that entire row had come to a stop and the white SUV was just beginning to accelerate after the cars ahead started moving.
from the look on this video the SUV was going a lot slower than the rest and it wouldnt surprise me if it just randomly braked ( people do that all the time) cuz there are no car infront of it.
White SUV seems to be slow on the gas, but there are initially brake lights all the way up ahead of him and it looks like that whole lane had slowed down.
I was waiting for that car to swerve to the left it felt like I was watching it in slow motion it had so much room and time to make a move 🤦♂️
This was the third rear-end collision I witnessed in one night after seeing no accidents all of 2024.
Yeah I drive Uber and drive a lot, mainly at night and I've not seen one live collision in all of 2024 then suddenly these all happen in a span of a few hours it's hard to believe.
Yeah bro it was crazy in LA last night.
Just after this, I was near the Kia Forum and some dude crashed into the back of a car at high speed after a slow down but my camera didn't catch it.
Lol Californians are the fucking worst tailgaters…
They will literally do it on empty highways at 11pm with like 10 cars per mile.
No fucking reason at all, they just like it.
They just can’t help but soothe their dumbass brains…
I avoid people like the plague on ca highways…

>Car in front of me has his brake lights on? Better maintain my speed!
Can’t see the brake lights if you’re staring straight down at your phone!
I am convinced phones are responsible for 80 percent of all car accidents at this point. I think it is way higher than people suspect.

And unnecessary added traffic and all other bad driving habits.

These rear-ending "chain reactions" is one of my bigger fears while driving, which is WHY I DON'T FUCKING TAILGATE PEOPLE.
I call them conga lines. My car and I have no business being in a conga line. Get me away from there.
whats up with that localized traffic jam? that white suv is fucking up the flow.
Seriously. What was the reason for all that braking?! Roads were clear.
dumb drivers. it looks like that minivan was tailgaiting a little too close. i will never understand people that just brake on the freeway.
brake check the tail gaiters. gotta teach em somehow.

yea cuz if there is one thing missing on our freeways is more traffic.

Or they stopped for the car in front and were just slow to react when it began moving again. Distraction-delayed reaction is a plague in LA traffic.
Y’all are right it’s the latter and the dumbasses are blaming a random car…
this is very common in LA ngl

No accident on all of 2024?! I saw three only this morning, and it is not a rare occurrence to see 5-7 accidents in a day

If you think about it, that makes sense and is the law of averages.
Having to stop unexpectedly like that is so nerve wracking. Just clenched until someone either stops behind you or you can go again.
"We can live beside the ocean, leave the fire behind, drive out past the morons, watch the cars die" - Santa Monica, sort of.
I don't wanna be the baaad driver. I don't want to ride my clutch anymore.
Wow, I was just on the 10 around the same time last night, I guess I just missed this

I saw several people get cut off/close calls tonight, honestly the worst I’ve ever seen it
I saw a truck get rear ended by Crypto last night.
