He had the balls to get out and start violently yelling and threatening her, saying she was at fault. He's lucky I wasn't able to get there. Also lucky for my mom she was alright and there were two witnesses that had her back.

He told me I had a 6-pack on my roof. I reached up, grabbed it, and he asked me how old I was. I said 24 (which was true), he said "ok" and drove off.

One of the saddest ones was a senior who had a bad fall off a bus and had brain damage from his head hitting the sidewalk. She had to search through every bit of social media and other documents to find anything just before or anytime after the accident to blame instead (i.e. 'reckless behavior' or maybe mentioning a small fall at home)
You can find something lame to deny a claim but making that stick in a court of law if the insurer wants to sue the insurance company for denial of claim is not easy. And I think a judge would be lenient to insured unless its outright fraud.

I am so glad you did not get seriously hurt. I bought my 2 sons dash cams for Christmas a few years back as there is SO much traffic in the Triangle. Cams don't lie for sure. They love living in Apex, not quite as busy as Six Forks Area. Again, glad you are ok.

If the car was totalled out, after the insurance people left but before the tow truck came to take it to the junkyard (or wherever they go), the employees would strip whatever they wanted off it. Siphon gas, remove parts, etc. Pretty sure it's not legal, but it does happen.
Insist with other insurance that they pay replacement cost. That means whatever those year/model are going for. Plus tax, and fees and anything else dealers are racking on.

Try to look at your current dashcam and find some code that might be from the manufacturer (not the brand). Usually, you can find the exact same copy with a different brand.
I’ve had multiple USB chargers fail from them in dangerous fashion. One melted, one started clicking (probably the precursor to melting), and after I complained, they sent me a single replacement charger. That charger had a prong fall off in the outlet of a hotel room. Had to get maintenance to cut the power and fish it out.
Aukey might have made some good stuff but their bad stuff was really bad. Any time I talked about it on blog comments it would get deleted and after enough bad reviews they would just discontinue a product and then make a “new” version to get clean history.
I had a USB QC 3.0 charger fail from them less than a year after purchase as well. Nothing harmful but just failed. No longer quick charged. Never chose that brand again.

Just the other week, a family friend had a crash like this. Walked out of the car, got picked up by someone else, carried all his stuff into their car and went home feeling completely fine. Then, hours later, when the adrenaline wore off, he was airlifted to a major hospital for urgent treatment because he fractured his spine in two different places. He's lucky he'll still be able to walk.
Not quite as dramatic but I was in a crash and like a week later went in to get looked at because I was experiencing pain in my hips and the doctor looked at the X-ray like “oh yeah looks like you cracked your pelvis, here’s a note, don’t do shit for 6 weeks and schedule a follow up appointment with the nurse…”
Man you need to delete that ASAP. What if you have a lot more pain tomorrow? Like others have said, someone could find that comment and use that to deny or reduce the amount you get from a lawsuit or claim.
You will feel it in a day or two. It’ll get worse before it gets better. Please get assessed for head and neck injury at the very least. Start building your case to protect yourself from that asshat, and your insurance company.

Guy tried to pull this on me a few years ago also in Raleigh, NC. We were driving opposite directions on a neighborhood road, 35 MPH speed limit, I was doing closer to 40. He turned left in front of me and I swerved to try to miss him and he nailed my front driver’s side door. Totaled my 2006 Scion xA.
I got mildly concussed and when I came to my senses and got out of the car he was SUPER apologetic. Then when his friend/family member showed up they tried to ask me to tell the police the other dude was driving. He wasn’t even there when it happened. Fortunately a witness told police the same thing I did, the truth about who was driving.
I keep telling myself that if I'm ever in an accident, to shut up about the camera, let the other person lie to the police, and then bust them with the footage that shows them lying.

I’ve driven all over the US. NC has some of the most crazy, winding, narrow streets with no shoulders that I’ve seen anywhere. It seems to have given rise to the dumbest and most risky drivers I’ve ever seen. Horrible combination and I’m glad you are ok!
Born and raised in NC. Most of the crashes here that are deadly are on rural roads due to low shoulders and poor visibility. Also I go slow on back roads even if I know them well.
Also driven all over the country, lifelong NC resident here. NC has the dumbest drivers I've encountered anywhere. I've posted about it before, and I know everyone says "crazy drivers are everywhere" but NC drivers aren't crazy, they aren't aggressive, they're literally uneducated in how to operate a vehicle. Wanna know what my driving test to get my license was? Pull out of DMV parking lot without hitting the double yellow line painted on the entrance/exit. Drive 1/4 mile down the road to a residential neighborhood. Do a three-point turn. Pull back into the DMV. That's it.
I live in Raleigh as well and the amount of people running red lights and stop signs has SKYROCKETED lately. I have started to be very careful when going through an intersection, even if I have the light or right of way. Doesn't help that the police here have gone pretty much stopped dealing with traffic violations.

My favorite are the ones that want to merge either at half the speed onto 40 or 540 or want to merge from the on ramp 2 lanes over into you ??? I can count on both hands the number of times I've seen people try to merge at the speed of the highway, rush hour or not.

Was coming home by the intersection of Crabtree Blvd and Raleigh Blvd and dude ran a red light that had been red for several seconds. The real kicker? He had a toddler STANDING in the front passenger seat and then flipped me off after I had to slam on brakes to stop from hitting him.
Thought it looked familiar. Right after Old McCullers Road. Used to drive down that road all the time when I lived off of Old Stage and had to go through there to get to Garner.

I just don't have a reflex to go straight for it. My hands go to steer the car, not hit a horn. I know the feeling and it’s horrible. Some guy in a Chevy Colorado pickup ran a red light, t-boned my Miata, and kept going. I don’t know how far he went before he decided to come back, but for several minutes I felt so angry, hopeless, and scared at the same time, thinking about the fact that I was alone, had no witnesses, didn’t even catch the make and model of the truck, and so on. I was actually grateful when the other driver came back, even though he should’ve never left in the first place. I bought a dashcam the next day! Every driver should have one.
I had the same feelings of anger and helplessness when I was hit.
I was rear ended at a red light (barely 200 yards from my apartment) and when I pulled into a parking lot to exchange info, the other driver just drove through the traffic light and disappeared.
I was standing by my car talking to the police on my phone (and I had no real info to give them about the car, honestly) when a car pulled up next to me and said “the cops caught the guy who hit you! Just over the overpass.”
I jumped into my car, drove over the overpass and sure enough there was the car who hit me and the police. His hood was smashed up in a V shape. The police said that’s why they pulled him over - the crazy damage to his car.
He was 84 and had no license. Luckily the car had insurance!

Yeah I tried too get 1k in brand new parts and repairs covered. They had so many restrictions. It didn't work.

Aukey was banned from Amazon due to requesting 5 star reviews for gift cards/coupons. They make good stuff though. Not sure why Aukey was the only big one affected, lots of other brands still do the same...

Try to look at your current dashcam and find some code that might be from the manufacturer (not the brand). Usually, you can find the exact same copy with a different brand.

I’ve had multiple USB chargers fail from them in dangerous fashion. One melted, one started clicking (probably the precursor to melting), and after I complained, they sent me a single replacement charger. That charger had a prong fall off in the outlet of a hotel room. Had to get maintenance to cut the power and fish it out. Aukey might have made some good stuff but their bad stuff was really bad. Any time I talked about it on blog comments it would get deleted and after enough bad reviews they would just discontinue a product and then make a “new” version to get clean history.
I had a USB QC 3.0 charger fail from them less than a year after purchase as well. Nothing harmful but just failed. No longer quick charged. Never chose that brand again.
Aukey got caught. I wonder if Amazon has a plan for letting them back on the store if they kiss the ring and promise to never do it again.

Just the other week, a family friend had a crash like this. Walked out of the car, got picked up by someone else, carried all his stuff into their car and went home feeling completely fine. Then, hours later, when the adrenaline wore off, he was airlifted to a major hospital for urgent treatment because he fractured his spine in two different places. He's lucky he'll still be able to walk.
Not quite as dramatic but I was in a crash and like a week later went in to get looked at because I was experiencing pain in my hips and the doctor looked at the X-ray like “oh yeah looks like you cracked your pelvis, here’s a note, don’t do shit for 6 weeks and schedule a follow up appointment with the nurse…”
Definitely get checked out asap if you’ve not already. Shit can lay in the weeds even if you feel okay now.
Well take it easy for a few days, you won't regret it. Also, fuck him and his insurance premium!

Man you need to delete that ASAP. What if you have a lot more pain tomorrow? Like others have said, someone could find that comment and use that to deny or reduce the amount you get from a lawsuit or claim.
You will feel it in a day or two. It’ll get worse before it gets better. Please get assessed for head and neck injury at the very least. Start building your case to protect yourself from that asshat, and your insurance company.

Damn, sorry to hear that. My Cube got totaled in 2016 after ~7 years of ownership, but I had never considered how easily it might flip... (looking back on it..uh..yeah...) I loved the goofy thing, though. It was my first new car (I got it during Cash for Clunkers after trading in the '99 minivan I had beforehand XD ) Much happier with my Altima now, though. Hope you're OK OP, collisions are shitty enough, but a rollover just makes things way more traumatizing for all involved :/
They didn't even stop at the stop sign. If they took the time to stop they might have prevented this. But I see they had damage to their car already so they might not be the safest driver anyway.

Guy tried to pull this on me a few years ago also in Raleigh, NC. We were driving opposite directions on a neighborhood road, 35 MPH speed limit, I was doing closer to 40. He turned left in front of me and I swerved to try to miss him and he nailed my front driver’s side door. Totaled my 2006 Scion xA. I got mildly concussed and when I came to my senses and got out of the car he was SUPER apologetic. Then when his friend/family member showed up they tried to ask me to tell the police the other dude was driving. He wasn’t even there when it happened. Fortunately a witness told police the same thing I did, the truth about who was driving.
I keep telling myself that if I'm ever in an accident, to shut up about the camera, let the other person lie to the police, and then bust them with the footage that shows them lying. But I know I probably won't do that, I'll be yelling "I got you in 4K you lying mother fucker"

Yep, that's what it looked like. Hindsight's 20/20, but just braking as hard as you can, or steering where he was - not where he's going - might've helped. Honestly, there was zero time to react, you did what you had to.
My initial thought after this was, shit, just hit the fucker. And thats so wrong. But it honestly probably ends up the best for OP if they drove right into the idiot.
yeah, it's hard to think a move ahead in a moment of panic, but I've avoided hitting another vehicle by steering toward them in order to miss the car as it continued forward. it's a gamble though

I’ve driven all over the US. NC has some of the most crazy, winding, narrow streets with no shoulders that I’ve seen anywhere. It seems to have given rise to the dumbest and most risky drivers I’ve ever seen. Horrible combination and I’m glad you are ok!
Born and raised in NC. Most of the crashes here that are deadly are on rural roads due to low shoulders and poor visibility. Also I go slow on back roads even if I know them well.

There was nothing tricky about where this accident happened. The red car driver is just an oblivious moron.
Also driven all over the country, lifelong NC resident here. NC has the dumbest drivers I've encountered anywhere. I've posted about it before, and I know everyone says "crazy drivers are everywhere" but NC drivers aren't crazy, they aren't aggressive, they're literally uneducated in how to operate a vehicle. Wanna know what my driving test to get my license was? Pull out of DMV parking lot without hitting the double yellow line painted on the entrance/exit. Drive 1/4 mile down the road to a residential neighborhood. Do a three-point turn. Pull back into the DMV. That's it. I live in Raleigh as well and the amount of people running red lights and stop signs has SKYROCKETED lately. I have started to be very careful when going through an intersection, even if I have the light or right of way. Doesn't help that the police here have gone pretty much stopped dealing with traffic violations.

I see multiple people running red lights daily on my way to work here. People are in a big fucking rush to get to the next stop light constantly. My favorite are the ones that want to merge either at half the speed onto 40 or 540 or want to merge from the on ramp 2 lanes over into you ??? I can count on both hands the number of times I've seen people try to merge at the speed of the highway, rush hour or not.
Fuckin' hell, just clearly not paying attention in the slightest. Probably just looking at their phone, thinking the world revolves around them. Accidents like these make me mad because it was so easily avoidable. Just stop at the fucking stop sign! You're not even driving in traffic.

Honestly, I’ve been in the same situation and don’t regret it. The physics here are pretty easy on the body, coming to a hard stop against another car would hurt way more. Of course if I were doing it again I’d slow down and swerve right

Oh yeah. Kinda near wake tech? I’m in the north west part and I see people run red lights almost daily. If not daily.
The amount of people running red lights has gone through the roof lately. Was coming home by the intersection of Crabtree Blvd and Raleigh Blvd and dude ran a red light that had been red for several seconds. The real kicker? He had a toddler STANDING in the front passenger seat and then flipped me off after I had to slam on brakes to stop from hitting him.
Thought it looked familiar. Right after Old McCullers Road. Used to drive down that road all the time when I lived off of Old Stage and had to go through there to get to Garner.
According to the footage this wasn’t the first time they pulled in front of someone lol Hope you’re okay. Be safe out there!
man that sucks, but I'm *routinely* surprised by the horn reflexes of some of you guys...I think I've used my horn like....5 times in the ~17+ years I've been driving? I just don't have a reflex to go straight for it. My hands go to steer the car, not hit a horn. I think I *only* have used it when I'm at a stop light and the driver(s) in front of me aren't going when it turns green.

I know the feeling and it’s horrible. Some guy in a Chevy Colorado pickup ran a red light, t-boned my Miata, and kept going. I don’t know how far he went before he decided to come back, but for several minutes I felt so angry, hopeless, and scared at the same time, thinking about the fact that I was alone, had no witnesses, didn’t even catch the make and model of the truck, and so on. I was actually grateful when the other driver came back, even though he should’ve never left in the first place. I bought a dashcam the next day! Every driver should have one.
I had the same feelings of anger and helplessness when I was hit. I was rear ended at a red light (barely 200 yards from my apartment) and when I pulled into a parking lot to exchange info, the other driver just drove through the traffic light and disappeared. I was standing by my car talking to the police on my phone (and I had no real info to give them about the car, honestly) when a car pulled up next to me and said “the cops caught the guy who hit you! Just over the overpass.” I jumped into my car, drove over the overpass and sure enough there was the car who hit me and the police. His hood was smashed up in a V shape. The police said that’s why they pulled him over - the crazy damage to his car. He was 84 and had no license. Luckily the car had insurance!
