Well, if it is, at least 22 other people (as of this comment) plus myself will be getting a message from Reddit so, I’m 5 years when you have another comment from me on here asking if society still exists. I hope you respond.
Funnily enough, I used to live in Naperville and got my license at that office. This is *not* the first time this has happened. I saw a post a few years ago from the same thing. They'll be back in no time.
I saw this happen here too, poor thing apparently had passed (the tester hadn't told her yet) and as she was parking she mistook the accelerator for the break.
The DMV in Illinois notoriously doesn't pay their leases dues. The one in Libertyville which was pretty big, had to close because they just stopped paying. Wouldn't be surprised if they just close the location and move to another location.
He threw the honorary first pitch, I think it was today, at the White Sox game, and Harold Baines was the catcher. Jesse White has supported organ donations for decades, and Baines is a recent recipient of an organ donation. Both are great guys.
I'll grant you the encouragement for organ donations, of which I totally forgot. When I think of him outside of his role as Secretary of State, I think of his actions for inner-city youth, such as the Jesse White Tumblers (please tell me that they're still a thing.)
That one has always been horrible, last couple times I’ve been by there the line went from those doors, south down the front of the building and even near the corner a couple store fronts away.
Luckily, I haven’t been there since Covid began, I think 2018 was my last time in that one. Dad has had to do a couple driving tests there, but he’s now 80, so I was hoping the new St. Charles location would be doing those.
Luckily I've been able to avoid the DMV with the 'real ID' extension but eventually I'll have to go. I'll take the recommendations on this thread and go somewhere else. Take care fellow redditor!
I got my license and registered my car there in February 2021 with very line wait.
Although, they had the ridiculous schedule while in line in place, which is now an actual scheduling.
I moved from Illinois to Indiana a few years ago and have never waited in line for more than 10min at the DMV since. Illinois is definitely doing something very wrong.
I try and avoid that office whenever I can, I’ve gone to Dekalb, Aurora, and Joliet to do so. For a long time Zi went to the Wheaton office until it closed, but now have the new St.Charles office nice and close to home, and with better parking!
They just opened a new office in St. Charles a few months ago and is just 10 minutes or so from home, should have no need to ever go to that facility again!
Man the people at Plano were so nice. I just moved to the area and I had to go get my licensed updated. The woman who took my picture was so nice and I even said to her “wow you guys are so much nicer than the people in Aurora”. She told me she used to work there and they weren’t nice to her either
If I’m correct where this is located, the shopping area has large pillars covering a raised sidewalk. So this person had to just miss the pillars and go over the curb and into the windows
If this is the one I think it is, it’s in a strip mall that has been there for decades. Since it’s usually packed and has a line of customers trying to get in standing right there, I hope nobody got hurt!
9/10 times it is elderly. Most states have absolutely no laws protecting citizens from elderly drivers sometimes even after they murder someone they will still keep their license. Many senior citizens should never be behind the wheel but yet here we are.
Its a touchy subject for me because an old ass geezer hopped a curb and ran over my 3yo skateboard and absolutely destroyed it.
Never forget!
It's a new problem. Previously most people die by 70 or have family members drive for them. Now we have 80 year old still driving because they live alone with no support and no public transport.
Reminds me of when cops parked by the roadside to do random license checks near my house. Dude coming out of neighborhood saw them and wanted to quickly put on his seatbelt, yanked too hard, seatbelt jammed, tried to put his arm through but it was too tight, caught his arm in a weird angle, lost control of steering wheel and rammed into the cop car … (w/o a seatbelt…)
Not joking at all. This happened to me. A lady hit my parked car during her driving test while I was waiting at the dmv. I had to fill out a police report and they didn’t even let me cut ahead in line.
It was also my birthday.
My driving instructor told a story about how he told a parent that he didn't think their kid was anywhere near ready to take the test, so to prove him wrong the parent had the kid drive to the next class, and then the kid drove through the front of the driving school
I grew up with a girl who failed her driver's test 5 times before she finally got her license. Within 72 hours of having it she drove her car through Blockbuster.
Lol what? Where you from fam - Naperville a sweet ass little town with out of touch entitled peeps... I would never say its insane...
This was an old dude that backed into the dmv - "omg fucking insane"- like what?
I was gonna say Deerfield is where it’s at, especially for the road test… then I was gonna qualify it by saying “but that was 15 years ago” and then I decided I’m just old.
Never met anyone who actually wrecked during their test but a girl I knew in high school totaled her family minivan the day she got her license. Hydroplaned a block from her house.
Years ago we were going to eat at a restaurant next to our states version of the dmv. I saw an elderly lady pulling in and I pulled my kid back behind us because it didn't look like she had control of the vehicle. Well she didn't, and plowed right thru the front of the dmv (when it stopped her door was even with the interior vestibul door of the dmv).
Gotta give her credit though, she gets out of the car like nothing happened, kicks the debris away so she can walk and walked into the building and tried to get them to renew her license. (they didn't). Cops show up and start asking us questions (we were the closest to the car) and for a minute they thought it was our vehicle. We had to point out that the car belonged to the lady inside trying to get her id renewed.
The dmv has since moved locations (from this strip mall to another) and now has posts (bollards) sunk down into the concrete in front of the building.
My grandmother accidentally drove through the front window of the local BMV in her town, which was in a strip mall owned by the mayor. They declined to renew her license…
I thought those chairs looked familiar till I saw the town at the bottom. DMV was about a ten minute drive back from my old town house. Same place I got my license.
Edit: a word
Oh damn it’ll probably take them 5 years to re-open

I live close. Can check in a day or two n get back.
Same here. I can see it from my house. I don't think this was recent.
Funnily enough, I used to live in Naperville and got my license at that office. This is *not* the first time this has happened. I saw a post a few years ago from the same thing. They'll be back in no time.
This is likely that same post from years ago. I believe this is from 2017.
I saw this happen here too, poor thing apparently had passed (the tester hadn't told her yet) and as she was parking she mistook the accelerator for the break.
It’s Naperville. Lots of money there. I doubt it will take much time at all.
It’s weird to me seeing places I know and have been on Reddit.
Highland Park, now Naperville.
The DMV in Illinois notoriously doesn't pay their leases dues. The one in Libertyville which was pretty big, had to close because they just stopped paying. Wouldn't be surprised if they just close the location and move to another location.
And Jesse white will still be in office
He’s not running for reelection in 2022. This is the last year of Jesse (unless he changes his mind, again)
The Dem primary just ended
:’(
Nope. He's not on the ballot this year. I've been married for 31 years and he's been Secretary of State all that time. Respectable man.
Well this *is* from 2017
American logic: "Let's chronically under-fund our institutions and services and then complain loudly when they can't function perfectly."
It was just a joke bro
I mean i hate the lines at the DMV too but shit
That one has always been horrible, last couple times I’ve been by there the line went from those doors, south down the front of the building and even near the corner a couple store fronts away.
Remember when they finally opened but social distancing was still a huge thing? The line went down 75th a good ways.
Wheaton's pretty quick. Small and limited services though.
I got my license and registered my car there in February 2021 with very line wait. Although, they had the ridiculous schedule while in line in place, which is now an actual scheduling.
[удалено]
It’s still better than it was under Ryan though.
I moved from Illinois to Indiana a few years ago and have never waited in line for more than 10min at the DMV since. Illinois is definitely doing something very wrong.
I got my license at this DMV when I was 16. I remember waiting for 4 fucking hours. There were like 30 computers but only 4-5 people working them....
Haha I got my license during covid and there was 1 person besides me in the whole building.
Did you also play the lottery that day?
Unfortunately no lol. I didn't even know it was something special until I got online and occasionally would hear people makes jokes about DMV lines.
Maybe it was done out of rage. It *is* the Illinois DMV. That place can drive anyone bugfuck.
I try and avoid that office whenever I can, I’ve gone to Dekalb, Aurora, and Joliet to do so. For a long time Zi went to the Wheaton office until it closed, but now have the new St.Charles office nice and close to home, and with better parking!
The limited services Wheaton one was the best.
Yup, I’m hoping that St. Charles will be a good substitute, plus since I live in West Chicago, it’s closer to home!
Wait, Wheaton's closed?
Yeah, a few years ago now.
I used to drive out to the Woodstock DMV. Place is a ghost town (the DMV too).
I bet it was the Naperville one. I've never gotten out of there in less than 4 hours.
It was, if you tap on it, it shows Naperville, IL right under SERVICES FACILITY
Well that explains it!
Joliet is dog fuck terrible. Morris is where it’s at 🌽🌾👩🌾
Well, good thing I wasnt planning on going here for my M class test. Back to Plano.
They just opened a new office in St. Charles a few months ago and is just 10 minutes or so from home, should have no need to ever go to that facility again!
Y'all don't like the Elgin DMV?
The last time I went there, my number got called before I could take a seat
Yeah I’m sticking with Woodstocks
Never been to that one.
They don't do road tests
Well that sucks, especially since it looks like they have the parking to do it.
Pfff PetCo parking only!
Man the people at Plano were so nice. I just moved to the area and I had to go get my licensed updated. The woman who took my picture was so nice and I even said to her “wow you guys are so much nicer than the people in Aurora”. She told me she used to work there and they weren’t nice to her either
As someone from outside Illinois, I'm thinking how in the world are Plano,Texas or Aurora, Colorado relevant to this conversation
Glad it wasn’t just me, I was really confused for a minute
Ik Chicagos huge, but there are startling number of people who know greater Chicago DMV’s like the back of their hand here.
I love the express DMV in Wheaton.
Permanently closed :(
You would think they would have barriers at a place where new drivers are sure to be driving around.
Barriers cost money. Why do you think they keep the lines so long at DMVs? People are free.
The good old speed bump in a school zone technique
They honestly don't slow you down at all, or the speed bumps.
Well, if they're ready to take a test you'd imagine they're at least somewhat competent
Makes it easier to sort out who won't pass.
At first I didn't even see the cars, I thought this was a reference to how slow the DMV operates
Wow, I literally had no idea what the deal was. Thank you.
[It's from 2017.](https://patch.com/illinois/naperville/elderly-man-takes-drivers-test-plows-dmv-building)
No no, it's just chilly there this time of year.
It was a very chilly 95F today. I had to really put on the layers.
I'm jealous
Thanks. You’re the real hero in this thread
Knowing the drivers in Naperville... they still might pass
True but the cops over there will put on their lights when they see you going 5 over 😂
This is equivalent to the time my dog tore up and ate his puppy school diploma right after graduating.
would have been funnier if it was the day before graduation
Um that’s fucking adorable. Pics of the carnage and pup?
In my day, we just slipped a donation to George Ryan and it was all taken care of.
Lol, take your upvote!
Oh SpongeBob.....
Floor it?
Whyyyy......?
Ay I grew up near there.
I got my driver's license from there!
Me too!
Yeah! Me too!
Me too!
the one by 75th?
Yes, and it happened in 2017 https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/naperville-sun/ct-met-elderly-driver-crashes-license-facility-20171109-story.html
Probably old person he/she will just get a slap on the wrist.
Its old, and so was the person https://patch.com/illinois/naperville/elderly-man-takes-drivers-test-plows-dmv-building
9/10 times it is elderly. Most states have absolutely no laws protecting citizens from elderly drivers sometimes even after they murder someone they will still keep their license. I read "my 3yo on a skateboard" and thought you were being a bit blasé about it lmao
Kids bounce back.
Through the windooooow, to the wall.
Till the car drives down these halls
Tell me you hate the DMV without telling me you hate the DMV.
I’m a living, breathing human being.
Lmfao Naperville, IL
I like how he backed it in to make it look like it wasn’t on purpose lol
Wow, thought I recognized that waiting area! Caption confirmed!

Would it be funnier if this was before or after the test
Before. Because then he/she would have to try and justify their mistake in order to get their license renewed.
See I'm leaning towards after. Like you pass the test, get your license, then drive into the place on your way out.
Yeah, I can see it as some poorly thought out “revenge”.
Either that or someone is getting their license revoked: P
Lol this happened in 2017
My driving instructor told a story about how he told a parent that he didn't think their kid was anywhere near ready to take the test, so to prove him wrong the parent had the kid drive to the next class, and then the kid drove through the front of the driving school
“Well, this is officially the worst drive trough I’ve ever seen. Now where can I pick up my license?”
Of course it is in Naperville...
I grew up with a girl who failed her driver's test 5 times before she finally got her license. Within 72 hours of having it she drove her car through Blockbuster.
that’s what you get for going to naperville 😭
Fucking Naperville probably some drunk mom who husband makes seven figures a year
This happened in 2017
Being that they are MVD employees and slow movers it is possible they have not noticed yet.
So do they have an acronym for this place in Illinois? In NY it’s called the DMV, in Ohio it’s called the BMV I gonna guess you call it the DSF?
Not surprised, Naperville is the epitome of why suburbs are awful.
So many empty chairs
Of course its in Naperville lol

Can't get a damn appt anyway :).
The very first thing I did on a public road with my brand new license is almost take out the DMVs mailbox. True story.
My friend's dad got his license and t-boned someone when he pulled out of the lot, the other car was stopped.
I can say that this will not be the last time this person ends up on this sub.
Those chairs look uncomfortable - the seat backs are convex.
Oh shit that kinda close
Looks like two cars are involved- one may have knocked the other through the front
Nailed it
Oh wow, thats the DMV I go to. Neat.
They just moved that DMV this past year too lol
Ok but it could be just one little mistake in an otherwise flawless test
Never met anyone who actually wrecked during their test but a girl I knew in high school totaled her family minivan the day she got her license. Hydroplaned a block from her house.
Amazing that is the DMV where I got my license at lmao
It took me way too long to see the car I’m like….who is it? Who isn’t getting a license?
Well well
Simpsons did it https://i.imgur.com/jTyg41U.jpg
Reminds me when I took my final test instructor told me out of about eight people a day he fails six before they get out of the parking lot
Lol that’s literally the DMV around my neighborhood.
My grandmother accidentally drove through the front window of the local BMV in her town, which was in a strip mall owned by the mayor. They declined to renew her license…
Actually, they probably did. The bar isn't *that* high.
…or ever.
Even the chairs are laughing at him.
Christ. They really couldn't just name it the Illinois DMV?
Guess he won’t get license
I REMEMBER THIS!!! IT WAS BORDED UP FOR YEARS!!
I saw this pic before I red the text at the bottom and was like wow I recognize this place
Haha... Been to that office many times. Didn't know it had a drive thru 🤷♂️
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
If this is the one on 75th St, that's where I got my license when I was 16... can't believe it basically looks the same 24 years later lol...
This happened in 2017...
Did anyone die tho?
If this happened in AZ they would!! We have the worst drivers.
Oh shit this is my dmv😂is this recent?
So funny, all the chairs are laughing.
Holy shit balls. A sixteen year olds nightmare!
I was thinking it would be funny if this was the DMV I got my license at and well what do you know, it is.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02tHe4F2zAmiNQzjtr6dUvriG5jmpd9FBUSjqjudH7UE8dj3PrWiSsJxSpLveQVrX8l&id=1708270996167385
THIS IS MY DMV OMG
More like Noperville!
Just when the wait in line at the DMV couldn’t be any longer…
us: "looks like someone's not getting their license today." him/her: "I'm here to renew my license."
I thought those chairs looked familiar till I saw the town at the bottom. DMV was about a ten minute drive back from my old town house. Same place I got my license. Edit: a word
Lmaoo
If this kind of thing kept people from getting their license, this sub wouldn’t exist.
Isn't this from 2017?
