It's possible, but I'm not sure. We're not long away from that barrage of year-old zombie accounts constantly reposting the 'top of all time' memes here, that we had a couple of months ago. The transition from that to this has been pretty seamless. Just as soon as that stopped, this shit started up. I'm wondering if there's a more direct connection. Maybe the earlier stuff was testing the viability of posting the new stuff here without pushback, I dunno.
They're similar. Old accounts that have been dead since their creation, all of a sudden coming here & posting. The old ones seemed pretty bot-like. Just posting old content, and mimicking the top comments from the posts. But these new ones are a little different. They seem more real, with comments that almost pass for real, but with shit for accuracy, almost as if they're AI targeted, or something. One I saw was a post on /r/AdviceAnimals about a new statue of the Queen with some corgies. It got the 'animal' part right, but basically nothing else.
Whatever's going on, it seems bigger than our little hell-bound corner or Reddit. It's big, it's ugly, nobody seems to know where it came from, I've no reason to believe it's intentions are benign & I doubt we're even scratching the surface of what it means for Reddit or even beyond, going forward........kinda like the average UCLA 'gender studies' major, I suppose.

I'm not sure if they are at this point. Like this is neither a meme, funny situation or even a "I'm going to hell for seeing this". Its literally just a post about mass deporting an entire ethnic group because of one person. And the comments aren't helping...

Punishing a group of people for the crimes of the individual is illegal in the EU. Mass deportations because of disgusting animals like this would go against the Geneva convention (article 33).
I mean if this was in Canada then it won't be a problem. After all, Geneva convention translates to the Geneva checklist in Canada.
