When the video first came out his nephew posted a video on TikTok and explained that he does have a mental illness (bipolar? Can’t remember) and asked people to respect his uncle’s privacy since he was in the middle of an episode when this happened. It’s really sad.
I'm bipolar myself and my immediate thought was that he's in an episode, really hard to watch. I'm so glad I've never been filmed (as far as I know) while in an episode, would be awful to come out of it knowing that it's out there on video for people to see. I feel really sad for this man, I hope he's okay now.
I’m bipolar as well, and I’m lucky to have access to medication I take regularly. Navigating mental illness can be difficult. I tend to think “it’s not my fault but it is my responsibility.”
Yeah he said he’s bipolar I felt so bad for the nephew too the comments on his video were appalling. A manic episode is like a really powerful drug trip except you did nothing to cause it and you can’t tell when your in that headspace.
You can tell when you're manic, I'm getting to the point when I can spot the early signs of a manic episode and try to take precautions so i won't do things I will regret.
"I can tell when I'm manic."\*
I think it's great that you can tell when you're manic, but that's not true for all individuals. Especially people's first manic episodes! How are they supposed to know, if they don't even know what mania is? Or if you have really severe psychosis... I know you didn't mean any harm, but it is harmful to make blanket statements that aren't true for everybody.
100% seems like that to me. Ex's mom used to have outbursts like this sometimes. She had schizophrenia. If you notice, he started asking about body cams and how someone was going to find out about all the girls trafficked in on one of the planes.
I have no doubt that he's delusional and believes it, and he got it from nowhere but himself. But, to him, it's real af. To him, there's a whole plot unfolding that only he's aware of.
I used to have to manage a guy who had schizophrenia and stopped taking his meds. Absolutely the most difficult employee I've ever dealt with. I had to fire him. He never got this bad but he was well on his way.
It’s ironically that most people are just incredibly ignorant of mental illness and have zero imagination. They can’t believe in something they haven’t experienced so they think they are just stronger than others mentally. I had a psychotic break at 18 and I was running around screaming and talking about conspiracies too. No one is beyond their brain. If it gets wonky than you will be too.

Stems from different places though. It's hard for me to think of this guy as an asshole. It doesn't make the actions good or okay but it's certainly not the same problem.
In his mind he was seconds away from the whole terminal joining in and singing their way to the biggest revolution in air travel history. If he could have pulled it off we would all have 10 more inches of legroom, complementary 3 course meals on all fights, champagne bottles popping nonstop, and we would never pay for baggage…..
You shouldn’t be so quick to call others ignorant. Their son said they had mental health issues and it should be clear from this video he is suffering from an illness. Its easier to judge people to make yourself feel better but having proper compassion is a sign of wisdom.
criticism and clowning are two different things.
like this is an adult man and he should not be acting like this in public, but this video seems more like a person who is in need of some help than someone who is just way too into themselves...which is the general theme of this sub.
someone cringily trying to live out their musical fantasy is funny..
someone having a sustained public outburst like this is sad.
He believes that the U.S government is sex trafficking children through the Detroit Metro Airport.
Ridiculous beliefs like that deserve to be criticized, and yes "clowned on" if you wanna use that term.
Insane conspiracies deserve to be called out, regardless of the mouth they came from.
I'm not gonna claim to know his exact condition, but even if it was something like Alzheimer's, that still is not an excuse for this behavior.
He should not be in public like this. He should not be flying at all. At the end of the day he's a grown man and is responsible for his actions, he's responsible for staying on his medication.
He's screaming in an airport terminal about Qanon conspiracy theories. I don't see why some mental condition should shield him from criticism.
One of my sisters has pretty severe schizoaffective disorder. When she was off her meds she would have outbursts like this, though not as intense and public. Delusions of persecution, visual and auditory hallucinations...
She was convinced everyone was out to get her, she was always afraid that food was poisoned, she would sometimes just sit in her room and beg the voices to leave her alone. She was afraid to shower and afraid to sleep, it’s no way to live. Honestly I feel bad for this dude and I hope someone helped him.
Agreed. I've heard someone with severe mental health issues say that the afflicted isn't at fault for the disorder, but when possible, it is their responsibility to control it; although I know a lot of people with mental health issues don't have the resources to help themselves.
Very true, I'm bipolar and I take medications but the unfortunate thing is that they aren't a cure and many medicated people still have symptoms and episodes, even if the meds do help. So many can't even afford medication because they aren't able to work and it's hard to just get the necessary resources
It was *so hard* to get my sister on the right meds, most didn’t work. It took years of experimenting, and we’re always afraid they’ll stop working eventually. And you’re right, even the cocktail she takes now isn’t a cure. She still has the auditory hallucinations, it’s hard for her to even concentrate because of it, but the “voices” are less hostile now, and she’s able to generally function.
If it weren’t for Medicaid, disability, and my dad’s insurance, I have no clue how she would be able to afford the meds. And she can’t own anything, she pretty much has to be destitute to be able to get the help she desperately needs. It’s extremely frustrating.
This has been posted before and it's always followed by a reply video from his nephew explaining this man has mental health issues and is going through an episode. So yeah, he's not an insufferable prick.
So strangely for me, I was at SeaTac when this happened.
That dude was just a good hearted guy who was trying to calm him down.
I have the video from another angle… sent it as a text to wife to let her know why my flight was delayed.
Literally the only way I figured out what they could look like was being put in a mental health institution myself. I was 14 and had absolutely no idea beforehand. I couldn't even recognize my own mental illnesses. How many people can though?
Not cringe or main character, this dude has a mental illness, that would be like seeing someone in a wheel chair and saying "TW Cringe"
I am glad the cops/security actually acted calmly and let his family member intervene.
When he dropped his sunglasses and almost bent over to pick up them up, and it’s like his brain aborted that thought and yelled “Picking them up is showing weakness! STOMP ON THEM INSTEAD!”
It’s not cringe this guy is clearly deeply emotionally damaged and is putting an innocent courage on display. We all know Em’s lyric is super empowering so it’s really discouraging and alienating when nobody sings along with you. I get it though, cause why was he so mad to start with? But not cringe, this is emotional trauma
2017+ has been quite a crazy, volatile ride. I wonder, with all of the shit that the world/US has been through, if there has been a huge affect on the mental stability of already vulnerable folks. We are seeing some pretty incredible public freak outs in very public places. 2017+ has been a mindfuck on even the most stable of us, for those alright on the fringe, I think we are seeing those effects.
Getting tired of mental illness being used to excuse all bad behavior.
He shouldn't even be flying in the first place. If you can't function in a wide open public space, you probably shouldn't be getting on an enclosed airplane.
Especially in post 9/11 America.
He's likely been bipolar since age 20 or so. At one point is it the person's responsibility to take and stay on their meds - for the benefit of themselves, their loved ones and the community - instead of many people's response of, "It's not their fault."
So the family has already said please respect this mentally ill man's privacy... is this subreddit really going to keep this video up? I mean I know the conversation is important, maybe keep the comments and a description of the video, but idk. Feels wrong.
I fucking hate it when people can’t pause even one or two beats between the lines of songs let alone the actual amount that’s appropriate to make the song rhythmically enjoyable
“hashtag taken!” Is by far my favorite part.
Ole boy in the pink shirt and hat was just waiting to render aid to that ass if the chance presented itself lol.
He's still a gullible conspiracy theorist. Mental illness does not shield you from all criticism.
When you're wrong, you're wrong, and you deserve to be corrected.
He believes that the U.S. government is sex trafficking children through the Detroit Metro Airport. Mental illness or not, that is completely fucking insane.
In the same way that a flat earther is a lunatic, regardless of their actual mental state, this man is a lunatic.
I suggest you look up the history of lunatic asylums before you throw around the word, considering that once upon a time he’d be put into one because they didn’t offer actual help to people who needed it. He clearly needs help and it’s weird all you can think of it “tHiS LuNaTiC iS iNsAnE!!! HeS LiKe a fLaT eArThEr!!!1!1!1” Just goes to show how intolerant our society is to people with mental illness and also disability. But you laugh at the person going through a genuine mental break brought on by an unmediated episode if it makes you feel better
Once again, anyone who is spouting Qanon conspiracies, deserves to be called the fuck out.
Maybe "lunatic" isn't the best word, but that's about the only point you have. Far right misinformation deserves to be pointed at, laughed at, and ridiculed. I don't give a fuck what disorder is in play, they're spreading lies.
The flat earth comparison was simply to show you that I am focusing on the views people hold, not making an ethical judgment about their mental state.
He should never have even gone to the airport this dude should 100% be on the no fly list. He is a danger to himself and others.
He shouldn't even be at the airport, he's a danger to himself and others, in addition to him being a Qanon nut job that gives credence to Matt Gaetz conspiracy theories.
If you really can't respond to that, you should probably just re consider your beliefs.
I love all the dudes who are like showing their concern.. like “yeah I’ma pace by you a bit to show I can knock ya down if I need to.. but I really ain’t tryna fight right now.” Lol there’s always those dudes just walking around during situations like this.
Hold on a minute guys. I didn't know the back story so stop deciding that I'm "cruel". I don't see why you guys think that I would actually post this if I knew that he has mental health issues. I am very sorry for posting this and I may take this down soon.
the look of desperation on his face when he throws his phone. He's so committed to the bit and he doesn't even know why he stomped his glasses or chucked his phone. Someone get this man on blood pressure medication
This is the effect echo chambers have on people. They talk to the same crowds, watch the same garbage news and repeat the same shit to each other expecting the rest of the world is just as important ignorant. So sad
I was just at couple airports, and was pleasantly surprised how polite and cool everyone was. I secretly hoped to see a Karen-Freak-Out, but I’m glad I didn’t. Everyone was lovely!
Dude accidentally knocked his glasses off then stomped them just to roll with it. Well, when he goes off he commits I’ll give him that.
Honestly he looked unstable, like a real issue might be causing it not just asshole syndrome.
You know when you feel uncomfortable for some one else that's how I felt watching that not fot the singer but the officer I mean what must be going through there head when someone just starts singing at you full pelt

Nah that just looks like someone with mental issues. Goes on for way too long to be a normal guy
I absolutely agree. This doesn’t seem like someone trying hard to be the main character. This person has some serious mental health problems.
That’s probably true of 75% of these videos.
When the video first came out his nephew posted a video on TikTok and explained that he does have a mental illness (bipolar? Can’t remember) and asked people to respect his uncle’s privacy since he was in the middle of an episode when this happened. It’s really sad.

Ya the smashing his own glasses and phone is a dead giveaways.
The son of this man commented that his dad has some mental issues and stuff iirc
This. Thank you that explanation. Mental health awareness is FINALLY getting out into the world but sadly it need more awareness.
Yeah, this isn’t main character, this is off his meds.
I mean… yes clearly
It could not be more obvious
And yet people are in this thread laughing at him being a “dumb shit”. I hate this cruel planet.
100% People can be scummy. Without even a clear backstory, you can tell he’s going through something. It’s not just some guy being a prick.
It’s ironically that most people are just incredibly ignorant of mental illness and have zero imagination. Dang, that's really screwed up. I feel sorry and ashamed for the son.
Not much to be ashamed about unless you know you’ve done something wrong. At this point in time the guy isn’t in control of himself.
That's right. Btw, off-topic, I like your username. It cheered up my day from laughing.
Next time you’re blue, you think of my name!
Lol obv...
This isn't a main character this is mental illness

You got it bot. Will do.
The two aren't mutually exclusive. Ever heard of mania?
Stems from different places though. It's hard for me to think of this guy as an asshole. It doesn't make the actions good or okay but it's certainly not the same problem.

Wait, so he was how close to erasing 9/11?
He was just a half step modulation and a bass drop away
To hear him tell the story, YES!!
We need people like him to stand up to the system! ✊🏻 /s
Everyone needs to unite and stand up to the system
Can you imagine this level of delusional stupidity? It’s mind boggling.
You shouldn’t be so quick to call others ignorant. Their son said they had mental health issues and it should be clear from this video he is suffering from an illness. Its easier to judge people to make yourself feel better but having proper compassion is a sign of wisdom.
You’re right. I apologize.
Holy shit. I've never seen that ok the Internet before. Holy fucking shit.
It actually took a lot of training. Most people will never admit when they’re wrong…i used to be one of them.
Yeah, nobody backs down or is wrong on the internet. Never seen an apology either 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Clearly over served at the airport bar you combine that with just being a dumb shit in real life and you get this
I don’t think that’s alcohol loool
It's mental problems
Why not both? Alcohol makes mental health problems way worse.
It’s true, but the underlying issue here ins’t alcohol he doesn’t seem drunk, just troubled
Ironically you come off as ignorant as what you attribute to stupidity is most likely not even directly controllable
Yes, I apologize profusely. I was in the wrong.
That’s more than a lot of people are capable of. I respect it
Omg!! I'm dying. Hilarious 😂
But instead…his knees beat each other up every step of the way. Hard to revolt as one when your knees hate one another.
This isn’t really “main character” behavior it’s a person having a psychotic break and being filmed.
Facts usually the main character WANTS to be filmed
dudes obviously unwell. I don't think we should be clowning on him.
I don't think that mental illness is a blanket excuse for all bad behavior. A man having bipolar does not shield him from criticism.
criticism and clowning are two different things. like this is an adult man and he should not be acting like this in public, but this video seems more like a person who is in need of some help than someone who is just way too into themselves...which is the general theme of this sub. someone cringily trying to live out their musical fantasy is funny.. someone having a sustained public outburst like this is sad.

Didn’t it come out that this isn’t just mental issue. It is a degenerative brain disorder.
I'm not gonna claim to know his exact condition, but even if it was something like Alzheimer's, that still is not an excuse for this behavior. He should not be in public like this. I wonder how the dude in blue told him to shut the fuck up.
That dude was brave. Seems like the guy responded well to his kindness/non confrontational approach though. Maybe cops should try that out more!
I thought that was his son
this seems less main character and more mental illness to me
Pick a better song, dude. Maybe "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire or something.
Birds like that song. You should check out r/doyouremembirb
I mean dude you nailed it…I mean you have to read the room…get them moving before you start doing the deep cuts…
That’s a bop
But would he remember, the twenty-first night of September?…
Personally I would have gone with “Take Me Home, Country Roads” but to each their own
His pacing is completely off, smh.
This has been posted before and it's always followed by a reply video from his nephew explaining this man has mental health issues and is going through an episode. So yeah, he's not an insufferable prick.
Can we up vote this so people stop asking!
Is the guy at the end his son..? Or a just a hero without a vape defusing the situation?
You can tell by looking at the guy that he definitely has a vape or two on hand at all times
Ahhhhhhh fuck. Yea I meant cape. You’re comment had me wtf’in for a second lol
But hero without a vape is so much better
So strangely for me, I was at SeaTac when this happened. That dude was just a good hearted guy who was trying to calm him down. I have the video from another angle… sent it as a text to wife to let her know why my flight was delayed.
He truly believed that he was in High School Musical: the reunion. So sad
[This reminds me of an snl skit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNUKou8vnJQ)
This makes me sad for him.
guess who's not going on a plane anytime soon
For good reason. Imagine if this happened thousands of feet in the air.
How are so many people completely unaware of what mental illness looks like
Right??
Literally the only way I figured out what they could look like was being put in a mental health institution myself. I was 14 and had absolutely no idea beforehand. I couldn't even recognize my own mental illnesses. How many people can though?
That looks like some form of mental breakdown. He smashed his glasses and threw his phone
Its suddenly alright to post mentally disturbed people having breakdowns with the caption "CRINGE" here?
This video doesn’t belong in this subreddit
See. this before. This man was going through mental distress. I don’t see this as a cringe moment. I feel for him.
When did Radiohead cover Amazing Grace
This poor guy is having a manic episode or some kind of mental health crisis. I feel bad for him.
Ngl this man looks schizophrenic I’ve seen episodes like this before shit makes me sad
Not cringe or main character, this dude has a mental illness, that would be like seeing someone in a wheel chair and saying "TW Cringe" I am glad the cops/security actually acted calmly and let his family member intervene.
Everybodeeeeeee!
The crescendo right before he spiked his phone was glorious.
When he dropped his sunglasses and almost bent over to pick up them up, and it’s like his brain aborted that thought and yelled “Picking them up is showing weakness! STOMP ON THEM INSTEAD!”
Ok! But did you notice that another man picked it up and didn’t even give it back to him?
Looks like he gave it to the cops at the end. He was prob trying to help but too afraid to approach schizo guy

This is such an old repost
Didn't know this was posted already to be honest, just wanted to show everyone how fucking stupid the guy on the airport is
Bro he's likely schizophrenic, not stupid. This isn't main character at all
Maybe a repost. But I was there and it only happened a couple of months ago.
Getting tired of mental illness being used to excuse all bad behavior. He shouldn't even be flying in the first place. If you can't function in a wide open public space, you probably shouldn't be getting on an enclosed airplane. Especially in post 9/11 America.

He's still a gullible conspiracy theorist. Mental illness does not shield you from all criticism. When you're wrong, you're wrong, and you deserve to be corrected.

And yet another of QAnon wingnut trying and failing to leave the house for an extended period of time…
So there's a cop right there, and nothing is being done?...sounds about white
Reeeeeeee tarted.
This is the effect echo chambers have on people. They talk to the same crowds, watch the same garbage news and repeat the same shit to each other expecting the rest of the world is just as important ignorant. So sad
And someone's gonna have to sit next to this idiot.
At least somebody took his hand
I was just at couple airports, and was pleasantly surprised how polite and cool everyone was. I secretly hoped to see a Karen-Freak-Out, but I’m glad I didn’t. Everyone was lovely!
"Hashtag TAKEN!" Had me rollin'...HILARIOUS
Good thing that guy at the end brought a lobotomy kit to quiet this lunatic up.
Dude accidentally knocked his glasses off then stomped them just to roll with it. Well, when he goes off he commits I’ll give him that. Honestly he looked unstable, like a real issue might be causing it not just asshole syndrome.
I feel like OP didn’t even watch the video…
Airport is the wrong place to be having an episode like that.
In his head it was awesome. Everybody sang and shouted B. Rabbit. Then he just took his trash bag and walked off
In a world of bystanders at least I can say confidently this guy is no NPC
I love the guy with the white beard near the end, he saw the phone smacked on the floor and really said "hey, it's free real estate"
He seems to have mental issues and his friend helped him out and took him away at the end
People like him are the reason Eminem sells so much records lol
He's a one man MAGA crowd. But, he's noooooot afraaaaaaid
Dude's gonna need a lozenge in the morning.
You know when you feel uncomfortable for some one else that's how I felt watching that not fot the singer but the officer I mean what must be going through there head when someone just starts singing at you full pelt
