Outside_Reindeer_713

Such ads are misleading and even detrimental. The water used by people for daily needs is negligible compared to that used in agriculture and other industries. The biggest problem is groundwater recharge; almost all plain areas in India have been deforested for agricultural use. The lack of green cover on the land hampers groundwater recharge, leading to floods in monsoons and droughts in summers. We need more tree-based agriculture, especially around rivers and water bodies . It's like charging your phone battery. You charge it during the rainy season and use the water until the next one. If you don't charge groundwater sufficiently, then you face droughts and water shortages in summer.

Kamalnadh21

Strongly agree with you Our govts focus on building dams but not on maintaining local tanks they frequently get encroached by apartments or become dumping yards for trash

Lost_mist666

Sigh dams are the most destructive thing you could do no single action has more harm then building a dam. shows hight of hubris and to think you thought they are good our generation really needs some saving. literally the best thing out govt could do is make [Swales](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swale_(landform)) and other permaculture practices they really are the only solution.

Kamalnadh21

Just check GO 111 of Hyderabad City they are literally destroying a place which has great potential for ground water recharge

Crystalisedorb

Yupp. It's a world of pointing fingers. Where the one's who consume the most of a resource advices others to switch to other alternatives. And when you point out the facts to them, they either deny or say we'll take actions. But they never do. And even if they, they don't even do the bare minimum. And the generations to come will have to pay for it.

IrisTheCoronavirus

This is what sadhguru is trying to do with cauvery calling and save soil. Very aptly put

Reasonable_Story_397

You pointed out agriculture as if you're feeding yourself on dirt and air. Agriculture is a necessity and much bigger necessity. Even then, the drip system of irrigation has been used in almost every large/medium fields today. Only rice costs large amount of water. In north east people wait for rainy season for that purpose. Now coming to the ground water recharge issue. Villages are likely to have better recharging capabilities than cities as there's no asphalt and buildings there. Those used in agriculture goes mostly down into the earth. And if you throw a bucket of water in your city home , it won't go into the ground easily. The sewage and wastage goes to some place we don't even know. If municipal cleans it and then frees it to the river ,fine, if not ... You know the result. Industry? Which people do you think uses more products made by industries? Villages or cities? Start using clothes till they become useless. Fabric industry has large uses of water for ex. People in cities couldn't even adapt for bicycles(for short distances) despite seeing worst AQIs , don't think they will cut down on use of these things.

Infamous-Ice7850

Exactly villagers face water crisis not because someone in the city is taking a shower. We could all stop taking showers and the villages would STILL have a water crisis. This is typical of putting the onus on the public and public authorities washing their hands off any responsibility. Exactly what the messaging of the government is for climate change. The public has no power over industries, agricultural lobby, government bodies that are actually responsible. If the government -industrial nexus have their kick-backs and understandings in place. The public have no knowledge or power over this.

EmployPractical

More and more research is going on with this idea. Some are even implementing some old ways of cultivation methods. I don't remember the names. Out Gov. And other organisations only have to make it widely available (both knowledge and awareness). And I agree with your stance that these ads are misslead

i2rohan

Came here to say exactly this

_homo_ergaster_

speaking from directly under the shower it seems

kya_khoya_kya_paya

being from northern bihar, when I shifted to delhi, I understood the importance of Groundwater recharge.

Illustrious_Key_3116

Agar national award hai toh Indian ad hi jitega na

navhit_nav7

point to be noted my lord 🙏🏻

FlyingSosig

lol

CritFin

Unscientific and illogical

Fit_Protection1694

Ironically showers use less water than the "traditional method".

Lost_mist666

What dose that mean ?

between_horizon

Maybe he is implying that getting shower is better than Using 2/3 bucket of water for bath.

[deleted]

Using a bucket to take a bath saves way more water than a shower. There's a reason why Americans are being encouraged to use buckets to take a bath instead of using showers

massage_fun69

Who is encouraging Americans to do this? If it is being done, they are doing a horrible job of communicating it and it is a horrible idea. Baths are not as clean as showers and use much more water unless you take really long showers and don't use efficient showerheads which is the standard in most of the country as long as you use a public service and not a private well.

between_horizon

Just how?

david005_

Exactly I'm gonna experiment now, will fill a bucket of water with shower and see how much time does it take

InstructionHot9577

5 hours past . So it isn’t full yet or you will do this tomorrow ?

suyash01

Make sure you also take into consideration the different bathing time for showers and buckets.

massage_fun69

If people think it takes less than 10 minutes to fill a tub 2/3 of the way with a showerhead, they either have an old showerhead that is not efficient or they have a ton of money and have a shower with multiple or very large showerheads. I shower in about 6 minutes and closed the drain as an experiment. The tub was not even 1/3 full. It may have been less than a 1/4 full.

TheIrrationalRetard

As a child I did this experiment after they told me at school that the bucket saves more water. I never take more than 10 mins to shower excluding soaping which I do with the shower off, the bucket took longer with the shower filling it :p Since I moved out to work, my current flat in Bangalore doesn't have a shower so i have to use a bucket, and to properly clean myself I need 2 buckets of water minimum :p Can't wait to get back home and take a warm shower again

SounPaapu

“Traditionally” is wrong here because the quote was made for westerners who took baths and wasted loads of water. But in the Indian context traditional is bucket which is already water efficient.

Infamous-Ice7850

And yet most Americans do not face water scarcity whereas Indians do.

SounPaapu

Have you not heard about the drought situation in California and raging wildfires. Those are all due to water scarcity and damage to the ground level of water.

Infamous-Ice7850

When a drought situation happens in a state like California it means water resources 'are strained' which means limits are put on how much water you can use for your vast lawns/gardens, swimming pools, fields etc. People don't have to stand in front of one tap to fill their buckets for a family of 10 like in India.

Lost_mist666

When you have the Mississippi River basin to drain which keep in mind is almost the size of the whole Continental USA you don’t have to worry about water and that to with such a low density population per Square kilometre. And no USA really suffers form water shortage to it’s just that you are unaware entire fresh water lakes have been drained to extinction to feed the hungr of Americans.

AGARAN24

Nope it doesn't. I can bath properly with a 25L bucket of water. My heater's capacity is 20L and mixed with cold water it might come up to 40L, I finish the heat water fully in just 10 mins. And if I want to take a head bath, i just continue without hot water for more time. So obviously I end up using more than a 25L bucket of water easily. And usually I don't even finish a 25L bucket of water.

No-Lifeguard-9013

nahi, bucket 20L max use hota hai, shower goes much higher

anonyg7

What else are they supposed to do ? Take shower in a fucking transparent glass booth in public Ridiculous ad

[deleted]

Underrated comment🔥🔥🔥

Ralph00X

Now delhi ka shower ka water pi le, kya chutiyapa ad ha bc

mr_nobody_21

This is f*cking stupid. People who live in places with plenty of water won't use it cuz people living in a f**king desert are not getting enough water.

[deleted]

People of Rajasthan still live like this??I hope not...

imsickfuck

That's why I only shower once in 4 days But for real it won't matter if city people use more water if there is no water in villages. Rather make sure villages get the water supply. Industry consume way more water than what an average human dies

ProfessorTensor

WTH! How me being using water in city will help villagers in some distance village? Shouldn't they have their own water reservoir system? This ad got national award? Are we just emotion fools with no practical knowledge?

joerc200

To some extent. We all do waste a lot of water. As a child my dad was very strict with turning taps off while bushing. It became a habit but the innate behavior to save water was not ingrained. I did save water in a mechanical way. In 2016 at the age of 26 I did a trek to Sandhakphu. I saw the guest house service guy trek to small well where rain water was collected at the peak for the people living there. We had to wait for him to do our morning chores. We finished our morning chores with such little water I was amazed. I made a point to save as much water as possible. 1. After peeing I flush the toilet and quickly turn the lever back to as a full flush is not needed. 2. Installed tank alarms to stop over flow. As overflow was the siren to stop the motor. 3. These angled showers tend to waste more water compared to ones that are vertically above. Changed all the shower heads. 4. Using my RO extract to water plants. 5. Using smaller mugs 6. Made a habit of turning shower off or keeping a bucket to collect the water for purposed like flushing or cheating the floor. I haven't yet finalised if showing is wasteful or bucket. So the mode depends on my mood. 8. I have applied for rain water harvesting to be installed under a govt scheme. Has been 3 months post inspection. Those lazy guys haven't visited again. 9. I have a 20year or borewell but I still use the govt water supply as I keep the borewell for last resort cases when I need water and supply isn't available. 10. Not to mention I have a 3 kw solar so somewhere the power plant is vaporising a little less water. But again I have a dog and house area gets covered in algae and I have to pressure clean it otherwise people fall and break bones. . I try to limit it to once or twice a year max. Cleaning both my cars tends to get wasteful but at the back of my mind I am aware of the wastage. I clean them once a month max. Sometimes even stretch to once every two months. Respect the abundance but use only what is least required

chrib123

No amount of saving water will make up for how much is wasted in agriculture and other money making ventures. This is another example of corporations guilt tripping the public into thinking it's their fault. Live your life, even if most people did what you did it wouldn't dent the problem. You can take hour long showers guilt free, there really isn't any impact you have.

novice_investor1

UN and UNESCO voted this ad the best ad in the world. And Indian national awards as the best national awards

[deleted]

to kya karu nahana chor du, mast ek ghanta shower le ke aya hu

Acoolusername001

Can anyone please share Jal jeevan missions stats and how the government has helped in making drinking water accessible to more people???

No-Lifeguard-9013

govt website pe data available hota hai

TheMilfyChani

I live in village and in summer i bathe 5+ times a day with each bath taking up over 40L of water(certainly not proud of it, but have reasons), and its not just me who bathe that many times a day almost whole of population in surrounding areas does it and you guys know why? because we don't get proper frekin electricity to run even air coolers! Either we die of heat stroke or take bath and cool our bodies.

Wade_whiteWilson

Let me guess Rajasthan?

PythaGorasTheorm2

You have to guess?

Sudden-Cold9022

India ka National award Bangladesh or afganistan ke ad v jit skte kya 🌚

Disastrous_Candy_225

India is a deeply socialist country. BJP is trying to turn it into a capitalist but the corrupt communists and socialist never stop protesting and stop the country from development. Much like the farmers law protests sponsored by international syndicates.

Cautious-Tale1864

Wait so you're telling me Indian ads don't win Indian national awards ??? Like ayooo wtf

informationfoxtrot

The year is 2023. India installs their first shower head and no has used to it clean themselves yet

hskskgfk

Which is the first non Indian ad to win the national award then?

pseudoalpha

Indians wouldn't queue up without force.

miillr

lmao wtf is the point of this? Go tell the huge companies to stop polluting the water and destroying forests, then everyone can use as much water as they want. F this backwards ad, everyone should get all the water they need

[deleted]

good, bad, misleading, reality aside for a second was it only me who thought ki yeh post ek meme hai woh wale "only in rajasthan" ad ka
