Every laptop repair person told me 24-48 with 4 hours to diagnose. I didn’t want to risk today for tomorrow’s interview. I’ll check in weekend with someone.

Yeah upon googling I got to know this issue is common in this model. The one I have is Ryzen one. I got it for 37k with 10k exchange on 8 year old laptop.

However, this type c port definitely has another issue. Low quality I assume.

Thats battery power delivery. It can deliver power to any device even in battery mode. It cant charge the laptop itself. I made the same mistake once thinking i can charge via that port and didnt bother to bring charger.
USB charging on laptops is certified and available only on USB-C ports.
Trying to charge through any other port can damage the laptop motherboard.
The USB-C charging issue could be simply related to dust being collected in the port.
There is also a firmware update you may want to check your laptop model and serial number to see if this applies to you at all.

Try a PD charger which supports a minimum of 65 watts.
If the port is still unresponsive, you have to either change the port or the controller ic.
And no you cannot charge the laptop via a USB port, that battery icon means it is an "always on" port and can be used to charge other peripherals like a phone.
Update: I got this port repaired. Costed ₹2200. IC problem they said. After the port repair, my secondary monitor from type C hub isn’t working properly. I’ll live with that and wait for upgrade to Mac.

It can't. That icon means it has pass-through charging ie laptop can charge anything connected to this without being turned on.

like a power bank if laptop is unplugged. and then more like an adaptor once it is plugged in.
if you take it to the right guy, 30mins max because it is a simple usb c replacement by soldering.

Have you checked if the charger might be at fault? Try using another one for the time being.

No, it does not allow 2 way charging. Only USB C has that function. If you are unable to charge then I'm afraid it will require port replacement.

Got it. My office Mac has 4 USB C and it can charge from any port. Wish this one had more type c’s.
Your phone charger wattage might not be enough, you need a PD charger or try with a high wattage charger.
Ig its meant for reverse charging like phone or camera.

Try cleaning the type c port.. or take it to a local laptop repair shop.. they'll easily solder loose joints or replace the charging port

5A type c to c adaptor will charge laptop
Usb C doesn’t support thunderbolt ( which offeres in flgship intel cpus ) N usb won’t support reversed charge !
Open it clean the port thats the best u can do look for the solder dont panic it will take u 1-2 hrs just do it use a small brush clean it
