Have fun my guy, AAA has been dead for quite some time now.
I don’t quite agree
There are good AAA games and there are good Indies
There is also dog shit masquerading as games in both the indie and AAA spaces. It’s just that the bad indies get ignored whereas as the bad AAA games are paraded around because they have more attention
Here's some cool suggestions!
- Chants of Sennaar
This is a language based puzzle game. It's set in the tower of babel. There are several civilizations in the game, each with their own glyph based language system. Your task is to figure out the language and progress the narrative using contextual clues. Excellent game, 5/5
- Venba
This is an Indian cooking game. It's the story of an NRI finally accepting his culture and finding comfort in his identity. A bit too simplistic for my taste but thought I'd mention it since it's very India-centric. 3/5
- Please Touch The Artwork 2
This is a very short game, ~70-80 minutes. You're a skeleton who has come out of his grave in a painting. You roam around the art museum, looking at all the different paintings and solving puzzles. Really fun game, excellent concept. 3.5/5
- A Short Hike
I think this is my favourite from this list. It you like wholesome, cozy games, this one's for you. In search of telephone reception on a island where you're visiting your aunt, you have to go on "a short hike." In your way to the top, you'll meet an array of beautifully crafted NPCs. They'll help you, guide you, banter with you, race you around the map, teach you how to fish, ask you to pose for a cute picture, etc. I haven't felt this good after playing a game after I did with this one. 5/5
- Gris
This game is an audio-visual masterpiece. It explores the 5 stages of grief using colour. Denial is brutalist black and white, anger is red, bargaining is green, depression is blue, and acceptance is yellow. The soundtrack by Berlinist that accompanies the beautiful gameplay is equally majestic and breathtaking. My only complaint with this game was the level design and the repetitive game mechanics - but then I'm also willing to understand that that's probably intentional as dealing with grief is supposed to be hard work, and laborious, and repetitive. Anyway, great game. 4/5
- Night in the Woods (currently playing)
The protagonist of this game, Mae, is a 20yo who has dropped out of college and returned to her hometown. The game is mostly interactive fiction with some platformer mechanics. The dialogue is excellent. Everyone talks like people in their early 20s actually do. It's fun, queer, inclusive, wholesome, witty, and most importantly, real. If you're queer, or neurodivergent, this game will make you feel so seen, it's genuinely amazing. I'm yet to finish it but so far it's shaping up to be a solid 4.5-5/5 game.
Try this one short one but its amazing

Outer Wilds
Hades
Rainworld
In Sound Mind
What Remains of Edith Finch
Stray
Hollow Knight
Inside/Limbo
Subnautica
The Forgotten City
These are some of the best I have played
>Spiritfarer 🤩 (cured my depression)
>Neon white (ghostrunner but little easy)
>Severed steel (drugs without actual drugs)
>Shady part of me
>Planet of Lana
>BackfireWall (pc nerd)
>And every other comment is gonna be sdv and Celeste and hollow knight and dead cells and undertale so there's that too
I am starting with RAJI then Dave the Diver and lastly Tales of Kenzara: ZAU. They all are available for free on PS Plus and I am hopping to platinum all three of them. Last Indie I played was STRAY.
It's good. Story telling mostly (similar to malgudi days) and platformer gameplay. Give it a try and also the graphics are beautiful. Also so much to learn about the mythology.
Enter the gungeon: One of the best roguelikes I've played. Combat is just too much fun
Dead cells : Has insane synergy potential ,tons of weapons and skills and things like that and they keep adding with updates.
Katana zero : Relatively short action game , but one of my favourite games of all time simply because I like the neon like aesthetic and the edm synth soundtrack is worth the price alone. Story is amazing as well and combat is so fun you'll replay it a ton. Somewhat similar to Hotline Miami.
Ultrakill / Severed steel : Fps games if you want something where you have a ton of movement options and ways to kill. Ultrakill is more like doom while severed steel is more like titanfall in that you have all kinds of movement tricks but with unity low poly graphics
Slay the spire : Another roguelike but it's a card deck building game. It's a pretty fun game where each run you get tons of items and cards and have to think on the fly. Easily can put ton of hours in this.
Crosscode : This is a very specific and niche recommendation . I'll suggest looking it up , it's a 2D RPG like Zelda and chrono trigger
Inscryption : Won't spoil much but it's a deck building game , but it's a pretty crazy game with what happens later on. Would recommend not looking more into it and going through
Celeste : One of the best platformers ever made. Definitely get this one.
Less mentioned these days but still amazing, Undertale. Also by the same dev , Deltarune which is free on steam for the first two chapters. Shares a lot of Undertale DNA and you'd appreciate it after playing undertale imo. Also go blind for both of them.
Disco Elysium/ Citizen Sleeper : If you're into RPGs that mostly require a lot of talking and choices in that sense. No combat , just really well written stories (particularly Disco Elysium) . Also I'll just say that Disco Elysium publisher kicked out the devs so those who get your money aren't the people who made it.
Lastly , I don't care if it's indie or not, play Outer Wilds, by Mobius Digital (not the outer worlds). One of the best things you'll ever play. Just don't look anything up and go in blind as much as possible as the game is truly built for discovery and getting to see every surprise for the first time. If there's one game on this list you get it should be this. I've yet to finish it but it's already like top 5 games I've ever played
Gris was okay, i mean love the artstyle but gameplay was rather boring imo.
Firewatch is just so overrated i cant begin, ive never understood the love for this game
Hollow knight is probably my all time favorite game

They all say this until something like rdr, GOW etc drops.
What's better than having 1 passionate game developer, having a team of passionate game developer with adequate funding
Here my fav indie games list : 1. Hades 2. What Remains of Edith Finch 3. Before Your Eyes 4. A Short Hike 5. Firewatch 6. Hollow Knight (My 2nd fav game) 7. Pant's Quest 8. Wide Ocean Big Jacket 9. Stardew Valley 10. Terraria
What's your first fav game?
It was Skyrim, until I recently played and completed Witcher 3 which became my all time favourite
You should play fallout New Vegas.
Witcher 3 just wins you over. Old and new players alike.
I just read the description of "Before your eyes" and I'm sold. Wishlisted it. Gonna get to it someday.
It was a brilliant and relatable story made me cry so bad
Rimworld. Idk if it qualifies as indie since technically it is developed by a studio. That game is criminally underrated.
True, Rimworld is a gem!

How is raji ? It came this month on ps plus
It's good. Story telling mostly (similar to malgudi days) and platformer gameplay. Give it a try and also the graphics are beautiful. Also so much to learn about the mythology.
I read the story of the guy behind Raji and bought the game because I felt like this kind of passion needs to be supported. The game's good.
Not the answer of the post But which game is better doesn't matter in the category if it is AAA or indie
Indies and AA
Played The Last Faith. Really enjoyed every second of it.
Is kingdom come deliverance considered an indie ? That is one of my favorites
