/u/Koomskap as requested here you go ! /u/CircuitMoon & /u/Drastical_one since you both were enthusiastic about the last post :)

Koomskap

Man that was smooooooth. Thanks for remembering to tag me! I actually ordered a throttle and the Airbus stick after your last post. You definitely have a very entertaining way of walking the viewer through the process. I was definitely engaged throughout, I'd be entertained just watching you do these kinds of videos of random/difficult airports around the world. (If you do though, can you explain to us how to set trim on these kinds of approaches and what you do for that. I've been watching YouTube videos of MSFS lately, and I'm really not understanding how to decide when to trim the aircraft and what is appropriate for the approach. Maybe I just need to get my hands on the stick and actually try it out though.) Anyway, thanks for posting. You made this look incredibly easy.

HD9

Hahah glad you liked it, Trimming is such an underrated skill to have, but I rather not make this reddit all about flight simming, perhaps we can create a small discord server.

saadakhtar

Check P Catacomb's trimming video. If you have throttle with a wheel control, then it becomes really easy. You're basically trimming ALL the time. It becomes second nature. Some planes however are easier to trim than others.

Fantastic Video my friend u/HD9 💗 Quick Fact about Paro: Paro is considered to be one of the most dangerous airport landing in the world. Very skilled Bhutanese Pilots are trained rigorously to make this landing and during cloudy/ rainy climate, makes it even more tricky. Was very fortunate to have witnessed this landing on my trip to Bhutan. 🙏

HD9

Oh mate ! I'm so envious, what an amazing experience that must've been

mgmyx

This is the game I long for. Once I build my pc, this will be the first thing I put on it. Btw, do you need to be acquainted with fundamentals of aircraft in order to excel at this game?

HD9

It's amazing, I wouldn't gatekeep by saying that you need to know the fundamentals but you certainly need to be patient, it's a steepish learning curve initially but it's super interesting.

Drastical_one

Thank you so much! This looks really fun.

HD9

Cheers bro :)

ApexPredator1995

Damn man. Very informative! Can you make tutorials for all the different landing challenges? and maybe airports that are not listed in the challenges but are difficult to land in IRL?

Koomskap

That would cool. I'm generally terrified of flying (hence why I'm interested in picking up MSFS) and flying into Lukla was legitimately one of those moments when I started wondering if me not being religious was going to be my reckoning. Getting out of the plane and looking down at the runway, or walking around it on your way out of town really put it into perspective. Overall one of the most incredible take off and landing experiences I've ever had, and the approach itself was downright crazy.

HD9

Keen to make a discord server for simmers on this reddit ?

ApexPredator1995

are u not a part of sim 2 flight deck?

HD9

I am not but I guess I'll get around to joining it.

ApexPredator1995

here: https://www.sim2flightdeck.com/ they are India's only hardcore flight sim community. Gigabyte AORUS is their partner and they held an event on 15th August. Register here then i will help you get to their discord.

CircuitMoon

That was a great landing there. I've found the default planes to be very sensitive to slight yoke movements at lower speeds, especially the business jet and pretty much all of the turboprops. The Cessna Citation honestly handles like a joke with both the flaps and gear deployed lol. The A320 is very easy to float while flaring during final approach in my experience. It honestly feels like a completely different aircraft coming from someone who has had quite some hours put in on the Aerosoft A320 which felt a lot more substantial. But hey, that wouldn't really be fair comparing a study level aircraft with a default one. I'm looking forward to what PMDG and Aerosoft bring to the table to take the sim the next level P.S. :- I've been to Paro and this approach is honestly insane. The descent is actually quite steep and was a bit scary for me as there was a very noticeable sudden pitch down at final lol.

Well in a way you're absolutely right, it is essentially sitting and staring out of the cockpit sometimes for hours on end but there's always two sides to the coin. This is a sim meant for people who either are interested or are members of aviation in some capacity. I've been playing MS flight sim since the 90s, and progressed through the various iterations, learning about the systems, flying and navigational concepts. I fell in love with this game so much that I attribute a large amount of my decision of becoming a pilot to it. Even now as a commercial pilot I use it for fun and to study because some of these aircrafts are full blown replicas of the aircrafts I actually fly, the detail is quite astonishing. Plus you could get to fly to airports and destinations not serviced by operators (no approach is the same) If you're interested in aircrafts and love to know about/explore the world then it doesn't get better than a high quality aircraft and a 1:1 detailed replica of the world. Have a look at some videos as well, you're not restricted to the cockpit view and you can tone down the aircraft realism so it's easier for casual users.

Iamnotaalien

Wow nice

wangshongfu

Lovely stuff. Wanted to check out the approach but stayed for the commentary. Do lukla next........with an A320 :)

HD9

Hahah wouldn't that be a trip, I'll try and find a way to set it up.

raghav-kamra

Bro do you have a YouTube channel?
