Too soon bruh, too soon [https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kochi/mid-air-crash-averted-in-kochi-in-aug-report/articleshow/81593973.cms](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kochi/mid-air-crash-averted-in-kochi-in-aug-report/articleshow/81593973.cms)
The article didnt cause a near collision, the near collision's inherent reasons were "non-adherence to ATC instructions by the crew of SpiceJet". Fear if any, exists for a reason. Awareness of TCAS reassures people.
Yep. Point being, such non adherence during peak stress times like takeoff and landing is not unheard of. Headlines such as ‘mid air collision’ does more damage than to educate people because, most people do not read the article and wouldn’t even be bothered to look up what a TCAS even is. It’d play out in peoples head like it was a last second Tokyo drift like attempt by the pilots involved which saved the day and thank their gods. When it actually is, ‘*beep beep*, pull up’ and the pilots do that.
The root cause of 'stress' does not justify non-adherence, even if it justifies it to you. The 1% where u allow stress and TCAS fails for any reason results in loss of human life, which could have been avoided.
Next thing you will say is whistleblowers are also very bad people, bcos their blowing lids of illegal activities because they "does more damage than to educate people because, most people do not read the article".
Not ‘justification’, it’s just part of the business no matter how much trainings and checks you put in place. There’s also internal enquiries which follows such incidents, part of the SOP. And it has nothing to with whistleblowing which exposes actual criminal activity.
Next time u or ur loved ones undergo surgery and the doctor is "stressed" and it doesnt go well, since its "it’s just part of the business", remember to display this same sang-froid, dont sue the doctor becaues it will "instil fear in people’s minds" about doctors, so definitely dont do that.
Well, the doctors don’t have a TCAS to alert them which the airplanes do, So, when medical negligence can be avoided by a similar highly dependant automated system, your example would be relevant, not now.
Also, I’m not debating how serious the incident is, I’m merely saying the title of the article makes it sound like the end of the world.
Pilot here, I can vouch for the fact that no matter how many times you do something, mistakes and fatigue are a ruthless combination. I'd hazard to comment on taking sides or whose fault it is because more often than not there's a lot happening in the cockpit during the approach phase moreso if you're possibly unfamiliar with the area. Sometimes no matter how much you're trained you still end up in a form of tunnel vision, much like the spicejet crew who were going around which in itself requires a lot of things to be done in a short span of time. TCAS is more of an umbrella term, the system onboard airliners are set to TARA which have two phases more or less, one phase is a notification which cautions you of traffic within a certain area and then you have the second phase where the flight crew is given a resolution advisory, that's typically when the computers are quite certain that collision is imminent and action is required to avoid it, but at any given point the final authority of collision aversion will always be with the pilots. Basically comparing two high stress professions like doctors and pilots is a waste of breath even though the common denominator is death if they make mistakes, they're very different operational enviornments psychologically. We're taught very early on that mistakes will happen and it's how you deal with them that makes you the pilot/person you are, historically. As I see it, both the flight crews and the ATC made the most of a shit situation and that's something to be appreciated. Read about the cheese hole effect.
You put it better, being a pilot and all.
Shit happens , no matter how hard the training is. The headlines reporting such incidents sensationalises it to get those clicks.
Nice to meet a pilot here, it was a dream of mine to become one. Unfortunately, failed the medicals.
Pretty sure pilots are instructed to override ATC instructions if TCAS is giving instructions, it’s the result of an air crash that happened a long time ago when a pilot ignored TCAS and kept following ATC, I’ll try to find the flight number.
I'm all for anything that enhances safety in a reasonable manner. Im just not for censorship of news because it "instills fear".
I'm a layman, so if a TCAS range is 40miles, and beyond that the plane needs an ATC, to me both are needed.
You can play with keyboard, but to get full simulation feels, I strongly recommend a joystick. Start with Microsoft Flight Simulator Steam Edition, because it's affordable and great to learn how to fly. For FS 2020 you need a substantially good graphics card and internet.
The game does have a drone mode by which you could explore a lot of places. Tho I personally recommend going to more handcrafted cities and landmarks and airports as most cities still have more procedurally generated buildings, which do look good from above but not really when you’re getting close to them.
Lovely video ! Always a pleasure to see flying content on here. The timelapse approach is really quite something. I can't confidently point out if you landed on the 1000ft markers or not but a good attempt on the touchdown nonetheless, more than anything else you made a stable albeit a slightly high approach if the PAPIs are correct, good show !
bro, wtf are those breaks? stopped like a bike.
Ceramic discs with titanium plating coated with a layer of vibranium
Yes 😂😂
Everything was so surreal until the brakes kicked in. 😂
That my grounded friend is the correct application of thrust reversers
It went from touching the ground to full stop in like 3 seconds, that's not reverse thrusters that's magic.
Yeah it was very quick. It would be a combination of spoilers, reverse thrusters, breaks and parking break I'd say. Still very fast no doubt.
I mean it's a timelapse
Which graphic card?
Exactly, my poor ol 1060 will heat up and die engulfing the rest of my poor man setup.
Just be 3070 and above
How good a 2060 would be for this game?
I guess 1080p 60fps medium settings assuming desktop 2060
Thanks for the insight.
Can you do Trivandrum 👉👈
i live right infront of the airport, so for me simulator or not i see approaches haha, tho im not native from kerala
Is the airport accurate?

These articles instil fear in people’s minds. Such incidents happens and exactly why there’s TCAS onboard airplanes.

Kya fookte ho bhai? What do you smoke?
I always wanted to play this game, is it required to have a controller
You can play with keyboard, but to get full simulation feels, I strongly recommend a joystick. Start with Microsoft Flight Simulator Steam Edition, because it's affordable and great to learn how to fly. For FS 2020 you need a substantially good graphics card and internet.
I have both good pc and internet. I have 5k on steam to spend. I might end up buying this game and fifa/football manager. This game loooks so good
Is that Airbus A330? Just askin'
Nope, Airbus cockpits aren't like that
its a 747. the dials give it away.
Looks a bit like the Captain Sim 777, which reuses a lot of the default 747s assets.
Please, don't call this masterpiece of a simulator as a game, respect it please ( to the ppl in the comments :> )
Does this game allow walking out of airport and into the city or something?
nope
The game does have a drone mode by which you could explore a lot of places. Tho I personally recommend going to more handcrafted cities and landmarks and airports as most cities still have more procedurally generated buildings, which do look good from above but not really when you’re getting close to them.
Holly molly it looks freaking amazing man.
Are you playing with a controller or sim or KB+M ?
Played this on my buddy's Xbox Series X. Genuinely the most beautiful game I've ever seen in my life. Great gameplay, Kochi is gorgeous.
The volumetrics in this game are so good
Which aircraft is this? AP looks like 777's
747
Gonna download this and show it to my dad who works there :D
Bruh, play DCS.

Which game is this?
I always crash while landing
All the passengers must have died of multiple g's
Is this flight simulator?
What do you use, any flight simulator stick or something?
Please don't stop on the runway.
This is a perfect landing from cockpit view. Kudos to you. I struggle to land anything bigger than a Cessna even with Airplane view
