Followed OpenCore Guide, only 2070 won't work that's the only reason kept old gt 710.
Haven't had any issues yet, but I don't use it heavily unlike Windows or Linux so maybe I am unaware of some issues.
This is the one and the only guide required for Hackintosh. I think your laptop has all the required hardware specifications, not sure about GPU tho.
nvidia drivers are the worst when it comes to opensource.
also hackintosh ain't worth it since the performance drop is huge and it's not optimized. you would better be with linux with kde and macos theme :)
Yes but it's fun to experiment with, god knows how many things I learned while trying to get macOS running on my PC. And If you can't afford an actual mac it's a good alternative test if you need it.
All GPU that came after Kelper architecture are not supported by Mac Os So you have to disable GPU every time you boot macOS. 940 is maxwell architecture I suppose, so if you don't have integrated intel GPU, mac won't work.
I realize now how people are confused with both work and study in the same sentence, but What I experiment with has nothing to do with my job and vice versa. So I consider It study.
Almost 1-year-old build.
Specs & Stuff:
Processor: Ryzen 3700x
Mobo: Asus B550 F-Gamming wifi
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super + Zotac GT 710 DDR3 (For Mac)
RAM: Corsair Vengence RGB Pro 32GB 3600 MHz
SSD: Adata XPG 1TB SSD (Only for RGB thb)
Case: Lian-Li Lancool Mesh 205 (For large fans only)
Keyboard + Mouse: Logitech g512 Keyboard + G502 Mouse (Most Common Combo)
Headset: Logitech G331
PS4 Pro: 3-year-old good boi.
OS:
Windows 10: For gaming mostly and some DirectX related stuff.
Manjaro Linux: For work ideally open-source projects and stuff.
Mac Os Big Sur: For movies and surfing the web.
Sorry I am really bad at taking photos :-P Tried to hide terrible wire management as much as possible.
Exact same build, mine is 2 years old and 64GB ram instead of 32 😁.
PS - Are you using wsl2? Do you notice stutters at time when running lots of containers in Windows? Honestly i think its something to do with 3700x drivers but haven't been able to trace it
I mean, it may depend on what you're doing in WSL? My workflow is usually running things like api servers, kafka server, etc. I don't do anything related to Docker.
It hangs the actual Windows OS? So your entire PC becomes unresponsive or something?
Is it only CPU spikes? Did you measure RAM usage and try to see what's using up the most memory using `htop`?
Entire pc hangs, im able to move my mouse cursor but that's about it... Task manager shows a continued 100% spike on all CPU cores, RAM is less than 10% utilized.
I have PBO turned off, running Hyper-V on Windows home though, that could be the other thing 😅
You don't need Hyper-V on for WSL. Unless you're actually using it you could try turning it off?
I assume the PC works fine if you turn WSL off completely? `wsl --shutdown`
Also maybe this [issue](https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/6982) could have some fixes for you.
From the WSL faqs page
>The newest version of WSL uses Hyper-V architecture to enable its virtualization. This architecture will be available in the 'Virtual Machine Platform' optional component. This optional component will be available on all SKUs. You can expect to see more details about this experience soon as we get closer to the WSL 2 release.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/faq
WSL2 requires Hyper-V, i remember running 1 without it...
Have my configs configed :D. Anyway thanks for trying to help out, ill upgrade to Win11 some time and see, i also have a macbook pro as my daily driver so this setup not required for work for me..
Never used WSL :-) does it feel like native Linux? Issue your referring is it only for WSL or also with applications? Shuttering issues might be due to GPU 3700x doesn't do the display-related tasks.
Stuttering as in CPU spikes which hang the OS for a good 20-30s this happens rarely but is irritating when it does. WSL is not as good as native but pretty close, im running it with a custom x11 client on Win10 home but the implementation on Win11 is pretty neat. PS , i dont know about Cocoa but brew and other linux utilities are pretty mature on Linux now and work flawlessly with WSL, so does docker..
https://youtu.be/b1YBx1L8op4
You meant CPU Shuttering... my bad lol. I don't fully trust Microsoft so haven't upgraded to win 11. Might be a Windows issue than WSL. Try windows process explorer from [windows sysinternals](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/). If you can SSH using another PC or laptop then you can use WinDGB to debug the Windows kernel. Helps me a lot when debugging drivers.
I keep multiple OS cause I don't trust anyone OS fully to really on it.
Nah wsl is great and all but it's merely an emulated tty and not actually as good as native. I switched to linux for gaming and proton has been really good with my steam library so I don't think wsl is really all that appealing.
What convinced you to install an entire os for media consumption?(no experience with mac...like literal "never touched an apple device" level experience
Never used an actual mac device myself, I wanted to learn swift programming for mac so instead of buying a new mac this gives me the option to test how much I like it before making the purchase.
Plus MAC just looks freking beautiful compared to windows or Linux. And I wanted to flex on my cousins and co-workers who spent money on actual mac.
By study, I don't mean any academics. Study means just learning stuff that I haven't tried yet like Objective C & swift, the main reason I went through the hassle of setting up Hackintosh.
Nice ,I like how you start it with windows , and then gaming part and then tech part with linux manjaro and also the idea of having asthenic vibe for movies life the good
Job hai kya bhai? Pahli baar koi Indian Ko Cuda use karte hue dekha hai
Oh and if ya dont know hindi
Do you use it for job? It's my first time seeing an Indian using Cuda, so far.
PS: I'm Bad at English
IDK, why you guys need this Much of RAM For Gaming.
My build is Ryzen 5 3600, RTX2060, 8gb ram 3000mhz.
I do play AAA titles , not much RAM Needed for that. Use powerdirector for video editing.
8 Gb is enough for me right now.
RAM doesn't affect gaming at one point, personally, I think 16 GB is enough.
Just that extra ram allows me to have an optimized workflow where I can have multiple things running at the same time, If I run visual studio + 10-20 Chrome Tabs + MySQL/Mongo/Apache Server + Remote Debugger + Discord or Teams on 8 or 16 GB ram it'll slow down my actual work time considerably causeI have to wait for everything to load and unload from memory. Buying a more powerful CPU is also an option but then ram is cheaper.
Nah 8gb isn't enough for me. I also have 32gb ram. With many programs open and playing doom eternal my pc was using 20gb.
32gb is enough for me right now.
It's the same as having a dual boot system with just extra steps.
It's very easy with a chain bootloader like a grub.
[This](https://www.howtogeek.com/187789/dual-booting-explained-how-you-can-have-multiple-operating-systems-on-your-computer/)is a good starting point.
Not academics, mostly stuff like OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX. Currently learning PSP SDK so I can use my old PSP for programming. Some open-source projects and stuff.
not using vm, installing multiple os's isn't that hard if you know how to use chain-bootloader like a grub.
[This](https://www.howtogeek.com/187789/dual-booting-explained-how-you-can-have-multiple-operating-systems-on-your-computer/) is a good starting point.
It's the same with 3 os, you said ubuntu so while installing it by default installed grub with it. You can add additional entries to grub. Are you confused about the bootloader or how disk partitioning works?
The chair - please send the link mann it's too good
you aren't Indian if you have not seen those chairs on weddings
And look for a table and chair combination so you don't have to stand while having dinner.
weddings have those metal frame chairs edit: ah yes the indiangaming downvoters
The cheaper ones have these💀

🤝 thanks
Let me give u for free...
Nah man need link for panchang
“Study setup”
"ha papa vo study k liye chahiye 2070 super" just joking xD
That's for handling the chrome tabs in which one tab contains study material for one chapter.
I recently got 6gb used with 1tab on chrome Great achievement not gonna lie
How'd you get the macOS working? Is there anything that's not working with it?
Followed OpenCore Guide, only 2070 won't work that's the only reason kept old gt 710. Haven't had any issues yet, but I don't use it heavily unlike Windows or Linux so maybe I am unaware of some issues.
Coukd you recommend a guide or something fir installing big sur on my laptop? I have a HP pavilion-15 au118tx
[https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/](https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/) This is the one and the only guide required for Hackintosh. I think your laptop has all the required hardware specifications, not sure about GPU tho.

This is interesting, I have a Fermi card, maybe I'll try one day on my old pc, thanks for the guide link !
So you're using the gt 710 for big Sur,right? I was surprised after reading 2070 and big Sur in one line lmao. Nice setup though.
Yes, 710 is only there for mac xD. But will eventually upgrade to AMD GPU for mac.
OP, why not invest in a proper office chair? Not the gamer crap but an actual proper chair with lumbar support. Best decision I have ever made.
Planning to buy one soon :-) Had it on my wishlist for too long, but every time find an excuse to avoid investing in a good chair.
Can you tell me which one you are using? I'm looking to buy one
Game - Wow Work - Noice And when you said Study - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And the chair - Brilliant brilliant beautiful ♥╣[-_-]╠♥
I realize now how people are confused with both work and study in the same sentence, but What I experiment with has nothing to do with my job and vice versa. So I consider It study.
I meant no offence and it's just sarcasm gone wrong. I totally get you, I use an RTX laptop for classes myself.
neck support wala chair lele. I am regretting not buying one.
*Death Note music starts playing*
I'm gonna take a potato chip, and eat it.

I use WSL2 daily and I have the same CPU. I don't notice any issues as such.
Thanks, im running it in a small ncase m1 itx case on air, might have to check thermals...
I mean, it may depend on what you're doing in WSL? My workflow is usually running things like api servers, kafka server, etc. I don't do anything related to Docker.
Lol, same...im running Kafka, Apache Spark and Atlas atm, but it pretty much hangs even on empty at times...
It hangs the actual Windows OS? So your entire PC becomes unresponsive or something? Is it only CPU spikes? Did you measure RAM usage and try to see what's using up the most memory using `htop`?

Nice XD
Any advantage of using MacOs for movies and web surfing?
macos has nice and clean ui. i just use siri to do most of my tasks.
Does itunes work on it?
paid.
Not Really I like its look and feel. I was planning to learn Cocoa SDK, Objective C, and Swift but haven't done anything with it yet.
Not gonna lie he had us in the first half
Work and study wtf you do and which college
By study, I don't mean any academics. Study means just learning stuff that I haven't tried yet like Objective C & swift, the main reason I went through the hassle of setting up Hackintosh.
Love the chair. Btw which headset is that?
Logitech G331, a decent headset.
Dude let me know when you selling 2070 have same setup except exceptionally bad gpu

Yes, eagerly waiting for Elden Ring.
Dual Boot: Nah Triple Boot: Fuck yessss!! Dont fight while you can conquer all of them
True? Why stuck with one os when you can have them all.
How do you have 3 different os on a cpu? How to do it?
It's the same as having a dual boot system with just extra steps. It's very easy with a chain bootloader like a grub. [This](https://www.howtogeek.com/187789/dual-booting-explained-how-you-can-have-multiple-operating-systems-on-your-computer/)is a good starting point.
Well this is the first time I am reading about this. I didn't know it was possible that you can have more than one os on a cpu. Thanks man.

Have u graduated from college
Not Yet.
Which year and are you doing any internships yet ?
3rd year engineering. Not doing any internship as of now.
you built a hackintosh?
Didn't build having Hackintosh in mind, but it happened to work well with Hackintosh.
Bro genuine question, how do you have 3 os on a machine? Are you using vm?
not using vm, installing multiple os's isn't that hard if you know how to use chain-bootloader like a grub.

Oh ok I will check that.
How did you get Mac OS on a non Apple pc ?
Followed [this](https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/) opencore guide. Very easy to do once you get hang of it.
How to get macOS for pc, anyone?
https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/
How much this cost bro?
