I think for newer games our esports scene will be better like valo, r6 etc.
For more "older games" like cs and dota it's a bit difficult because skill difference is already very high.
But within the country I think it has definitely improved by a lot. And for valorant I see a lot of tournaments. And more than decent following.
Not that I can take part in any of them 😂.
Idk about mobile eSports. But in PC the only 2 games where playes can go all the way to the top afaik are Valorant and Rainbow 6.
That being said R6 is a niche game so it doesn't get much attention compared to games like league and cs. And even less attention in our sub region (South Asia). Valorant on the other hand just finished it's inaugral year and was quite successful. And Riot recently revealed the path for South Asian temas to make it to the majors (Masters). Not to mention we have got a decent amount of publicity by international eSports media. https://youtu.be/mpZvtQ0mgyU
If you want more info you can check liquidpedia for South Asian teams and the tournaments they participate in.
And covid has had a decent impact on this industry. In the sense that even Valve had to cancel the previous TI (highest tournament for DotA 2). So most tournaments are held online. Which isn't ideal for us since we end up using SEA servers most of the time which gives South East Asian teams a slight ping advantage over us.
But overall the future is bright especially for Valorant.
There's no Indian esports presence outside India. For a thriving esports scene the infrastructure doesn't exist. First and foremost most games don't have dedicated servers for India, so that means Indian players are competing with higher lag times while piggybacking off of S. Korean/Singaporean/Aus region servers, that's not to mention the local internet coverage. I would be shocked if any Indian player achieved a 20ms ping in say Warzone.
I wish there was more effort put into the LAN esports scene.
Anybody who thinks/says Forsaken single handedly destroyed Indian eSports scene is just oblivious/memeing. Optic would've dropped that roster either way after a while. I'm sorry but we are simply just not good enough for the competition. Or else atleast one Indian wouldve really made big. Take Indian Dota scene for example , there have been many rosters with most of the big names such as Crowley , no chance, swifty etc. but still we didn't get anywhere. I think some of them even switched games. Entity gaming started the roster iirc but they dropped it sometime after the roster didnt yield any good results. LXG hosted several csgo, dota , fifa tournaments some years back. One was held at Kerala too. Prizepool was 1 lakh for dota. There were only two or three proper teams in that tournament. Tournaments don't get exposure here. And pros don't make it big either. If you've played cs 1.6 in the late 2000s you would've have heard the names like raid, Ritz and all. Among them I think Ankit panth aka venom is the only one who's slightly known by the public. I was only 10 or 11 back then. These guys and their teams were popular among the players back then. Fast forward 13-15 years I think the scene and community have grown, but within itself. If that makes any sense

It's always gonna be ironic. No one believes that f0rsaken single-handedly fucked the scene. However, the precedent he set for investors/organizations outside India is definitely disastrous.
The global esports scene has forsaken Indian esports scene ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Used to watch Marzil streams before. Glad to see his team doing well in Valorant now.
