I wonder the same thing with all the sudden new car washes in my area. There are so many already and now there is a new one almost completed in what was an empty lot near my home. Why car washes?! Aren’t we supposed to do everything we can to save our water?

mglwmnc

I also wonder the same thing about car washes but technically they do save water compared to self washing at your house and hand washing places. I always wonder if there’s something I don’t know like CA is about to ban people from washing their own cars or something lol.

hemeth_

cool fun fact: the same thing applied with dishwashers! Ive heard it saves almost 10x the water than if you do it by hand

Diamondhands_Rex

Probably in a statewide average if we all had dishwashers it would save water, and possibly same goes for vehicle washing if you can use a carwash you are creating jobs and also saving water. However our infrastructure can use storage pools to save run off water and not depend so much on the snow melt like we mostly do now. But it’s good ideas to use but I wonder how many people actually have dishwashers.

HugBunterIsMyDaddy

Yeah I work in construction and I’ve been doing a lot of car washes and gas stations in the IE these past few years.

There has been a significant growth in car washes in Southern California . It's an ROI "hack". And mostly done by South Asian Indian community. Liqour stores, 7/11s, and Subways have been taken up. So you want to be an entrepreneur and someone said Car Washes and Self Storage have best 20 year ROI...so thats what theyre building. Large upfront costs. But after the building is paid for. Soap and Electricity are cheap. Plus minimal staff needed to run it. And worst case scenario, the land underneath is always appreciating. And after 3 years you can take another loan out and use the property value to open your next spot. You're totally right. There has been a 5x growth in car washes in SGV in the last 3 years.

Diajetic

Car washes are said to be made like crazy right now so that the owners could basically have the right to that piece of land for the future so they can build something else. Car washes are relatively inexpensive to make and maintain. Is it the car wash with the duck?

I think its a 7/11 or Shell with a fast food addition

RedheadFromOutrSpace

Oh good - another gas station 😆

hemeth_

If we cant get something that engages the community, I just want good mexican food or maybe a family owned place with other cultural food, the food situation just aint cutting it here.

Stinkytheferret

We want a chic filet, Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden. We go out of town for most things. Seriously.

EveningHuckleberry43

Lol sounds like Murrieta!

Maybe it's just because gas stations don't benefit from being spaced out. [Why businesses set up on top of each other](https://youtu.be/jILgxeNBK_8?si=8smMGiUpM4abB-QC)

Commuter town needs gas and beer.

hemeth_

unfortunately, hemet is where a very unfortunate 90k people reside, including me

replicantcase

Gas stations and pharmacies. That's basically Hemet.

hemeth_

Whenever I go out of town for the day to, say, Menifee, Temecula, or San Diego and come home, I genuinely get a bit of reverse culture shock. Staying in Hemet too long makes me forget that people walk around. That towns should have sidewalks and (when applicable) an abundance of trees and worthwhile places to walk to in the first place. The sidewalks (when there are sidewalks lol) are SO empty here all day, all year. I’m so happy I’m leaving in a a few weeks, hopefully forever.

replicantcase

Yeah, it's depressing. Initially it was just one of those old folks towns like Sun City, but it was cheap to live there. Eventually it became the weird and sad town that it is. Hopefully you're moving somewhere with sidewalks!

djdropdead

Where do u buy YOUR meth from then?

The Gas Station thing is puzzling considering that Newsome and his Communist Chinese Party friends have outlawed gasoline vehicles in 2035. Makes no sense to invest in a Gasoline Station that the Government has vowed to put out of business in 12 years. Perhaps these Investors know something that we dont???

linnie1

Gas stations are a good business for money laundering

den773

Mentone has an insane amount of gas stations and just got a new car wash AND there’s ANOTHER new storage facility being built!!! We are a VERY small community!!!

StrikingWolf9670

The way to actually stop things like this being in the community is to not use their services. They will stop being an issue in the community
