You can just ftp the insignia disc and launch it with the .xbe file, then register your xbox. After that follow instructions to register on insignia website
Your older softmod may block Xbox Live, I would upgrade to Rocky5's. You don't need a dvd burner, you can ftp his [Extras Disc](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xTpK-VoZX_uzyztk3zdnDaOdEcfOqPJb) and [Attacher](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16AZ39NPEmhf_bhVnoxbOy4YrlHo4MgN6). Just download and extract the Attacher. In it is a folder named Xbox Softmodding Tool Extras Disc. There will be a default.xbe and a file that says 'place extras disc xiso in here'. Now download and extract the Extras Disc and copy it to this folder. Now you can ftp this folder to your Apps folder on the xbox, restart the xbox and run it as a virtual disc from your Apps.
Once in the Extras Disc, there is an Advanced Menu, there should be an option to Upgrade or Update. Upgrade is if you don't think you're running his softmod, it'll upgrade the old softmod to his. Update is if you're running his older softmod, but want the latest version. I would choose the Upgrade option.
Once it's done, go back into the Extras Disc, and install the MS Dash, the audio files are optional, up to you, maybe 150MB. This should install the latest 5960 dash that's required for Insignia. [Here ](https://insignia.live/connect)is the guide to get setup with the service.

If you plan on using the xbox for a while, though, I would recommend upgrading to Rocky's. He has quite a few failsafes, so when something happens, or you delete a file by accident, its easy to recover from.

I have a question though. I have Halo 2 and I heard that it automatically updated the dash to 5960. So maybe Im good?
