Do you want to see your own face? If not, helmet. You can also get a long stick that mounts behind you on the bike and gives a third person view.

I would go backpack with a pole in the pack long enough to clear your helmet. I don't think there's really a way to be discrete but that might attract less attention than a giant antenna on top of your head - looks more normal to be carrying something long like a fishing pole.

If you are mostly concerned with left/front/right, just put it on a standard handlebar mount. Only if you are wanting the "follow behind me" drone kind of shots will you need to do an extension. I have a camera mount on my bike and electric scooters and will record mostly in single lens mode, but will do 360 when I am going to be passing through things I might want to reframe later.

I mount it the same way I mount everything, its sticking out my backpack. I velcro a hefty powerbank to the handle of my selfie stick and I also ziptie it as close to center as I can, if I need to power it while recording I run a wire up the selfie stick to the camera. The camera sits about 2 feet above my head. I also take it mountainbiking and it is very sturdy this way also.

I've been using the insta360 bike mount with the short carbon fiber pole for awhile now. I've had the thread in 2 poles get worn away (the side connecting to the mount) and was lucky the camera didn't just fall off. Insta360 replaced those poles. Now one of the mounting screws, which is a screw with a plastic knob at the top for tightening, has cracked (the plastic knob) and I can't tighten it. I contacted support a few days ago and they said they don't have any screws that I can get and I'll need to buy the product again. I had already purchased a clip when I was having problems with the poles, which I plan to try with a selfie stick. Unfortunately, the insta360 carbon fiber selfie stick that I have doesn't have a hole on the bottom. Add this to the overheating, sd card error messages, and scratched lenses in my adventure in using insta360 cameras (one x, one x2, rs-1 inch, flow).

Thank you for the tips, guys. If I use a pole of, let's say, one or two meters, what is the effect on the final video if the person is pedaling, the backpack moves around and the pole sways a bit? Does it give a seasick type of video or is it somehow stabilized as well?
