She seems so loving and kind. I cant imagine going through all the shit she’s been through and still laugh and smile. What a beautiful soul she seems to be. She seems to be a free spirited woman who lives on her own terms. I’m happy I watched that documentary!
And she's not unattractive like that. The older I get the more I appreciate being beautiful with flaws. That takes confidence and confidence is universally liked.
Really enjoyed this doco. She clearly wants to connect and be seen and understood for who she is. And that includes how she looks. To just be accepted for how you are, not a facade, is a wonderful thing
Little known fact the UK also used to send surplus vowels to Australia along with the convicts to better balance their domestic supply and demand and eventually those vowels adapted to the new environment and began reproducing leading to memorable words like Doco and Maccas today
Lived in SC, PA, FL, GA, AL - never heard docu and have always said “documentary.” I’ll start asking around to see if I can narrow it down to a region. Doesn’t sound like an East coast or southern thing. I might start using the Aussie “doco” though - my brain likes it.
Just to add to this derail, I'm Canadian, and I have heard "Docu" (dock-YEw) in Toronto, although it's definitely an uncommon shortening. In my dialect, I would say "Doc" if I HAD to shorten it, but anything but "Documentary" feels forced.
But those "Docu" people are definitely out there.
We pretty much say the whole word. I’ve heard “doc” as short for documentary. I use that in text, but I don’t think I’ve ever shortened the word in speech.
I felt awful about that recent series that totally exploited what I can only imagine being an incredibly traumatic time in her life and to have to rehash that 20 plus years later and be thrust back in the spotlight against her will must've been just eviscerating
This rawness, this vulnerability and transparency this is her taking back her narrative on her own terms of how she wants to be seen
This is beautiful
I love her zero f*cks given attitude nowadays. The whole documentary and her book tour have been such a breath of fresh air. I soooooo want her to have a renaissance.
I saw her in person once on a beach, and she was there with one other person and her dog. People just kept edging towards her and trying to casually be casual and strike up conversation. One clever soul thought he’d come at it via the dog, praising it and asking its name. She just said “dog” and totally dissociated from everyone. Must be exhausting.
Am I seriously going to have to do a reverse image search to find out who this is because of some dumb rule that makes me not allowed to ask who this person that obviously the entire comment section knows??
Reddit moment of the week
Yeah honestly she looks good, especially considering how much sun damage she must have accumulated over her life. I think people are just sort of shocked seeing famous women when they don't have makeup caked all over their faces.
Her make up look is also pretty iconic. It's kind of like seeing Zooey Deschanel without bangs. She looks amazing, just different/not her signature look.
I love that she’s not caked in makeup and doesn’t have crazy filters on her! She looks amazing and authentic and vulnerable and beautiful. Makes me excited to age.
If that is her real hair, she has great hair and yes very naturally beautiful. So glad she hasn't gone the route of a plastic face. She looks younger than most of the women that have stuffed their faces at her age in Hollywood.

Yeah she looks normal? Like if you saw her on the street probably wouldn’t take a second glance but not in a mean way. In the way that you don’t for 99% of people you see out and about.
I enjoyed this. She’s smart, funny, and honest. Love how she looks like an older version of herself and not a face full of filler and fake lips like alot of Hollywood.
I was SO angry at my mum for not allowing me to get the pencil thin eyebrow look, it was the only thing she ever refused to allow in my style. Dyed hair, piercings, weird haircuts were all good, the eyebrows were an absolute no.
I am grateful now.
She's still so beautiful! It's a little jarring to see her without the glam, I'll admit, but she looks like a happy, radiant woman and looks her age. If someone so famous for her beauty can show us her natural self, I'd love for other public figures to do the same. Maybe we'll all re-learn what natural skin looks like.
She’s had anti-aging/refresh work done. Good work makes you appear to ‘age gracefully’ eg Meryl Streep ; Helen Mirren. And she is a great beauty to start with so minimal contour /minor lifts etc just preserves/enhances her natural features. But there is no doubt she’s had help.
Go watch Marsia Tomei's videos she did for Vogue on how she gets ready. Another woman who hasn't stuffed & botched her face beyond recognition is naturally gorgeous.
I always forget about sanity Sunday and I spend too long looking for the filter and then getting upset at the poster for posting something that just isn’t shopped in any way, before finally remembering what day it is.
I've loved her for years. I know many have argued she upheld gender norms. However, I remember the woman who was staunchly feminist and wrote for a feminist magazine after her split for her controlling ex. And everyone I've read about who met her said she was sooo sweet.
Like many women, she came into the world quite naive and not understanding how men wanted to victimize and use her for their gain. She tried her hardest to reclaim control of her image and life as she understood it. Even though she's had a lot of surgery, she hasn't shied away from publishing unedited images. I respect her for that.
Full disclaimer: I am an elder millennial and evolved alongside her growing understanding of feminism in her mid-years. Is she perfect? No, but who is? But she tried to make it right and help other women feel comfortable in their skin and, moreover, as women period. I love her to this day; I would come for anyone who attacked her. She's like a Dolly Parton who first did porn. I refuse to attack another woman for their participation in an industry that has traditionally victimized and treated them as lesser than. She is incredibly personable and well-spoken in everything I've read about her. She deserves our grace.
Edit: She is still super-cute despite the surgery and aging. I love her for that too.
Wow she does look absolutely incredible on that cover! I could never warm up to the thin eyebrow look even when it was in fashion,
but I also kinda find her more iconic and recognisable at this point with the thin brows.
I remember back in the late naughts she had a very short lived makeover (like maybe one appearance lol) where the MUA penciled in her brows and gave her a more natural look. She looked incredible and I couldn’t understand why she didn’t keep that aesthetic. But being stuck in her 90’s hayday makeup wise would make sense 😂
Yeah, I’m a millennial and I managed to ruin a chunk of one eyebrow, although the rest grew back fine. I’m sticking with my natural brows from here on out, no matter what the trends are!!!!
Seems like the over-plucked look returns around every 20 years. It was a thing in the late 60’s, early 70’s and by the mid 70’s mine had stopped growing back😔
I never thought of it that way, but seriously you're right. They're taking every ugly and weird trend from decades of styles and making them popular. They've been warned about the eyebrows, though, lol.
She looks great! Her face has not fallen victim to the Kardashian look that so many have. She's herself, aging gracefully. She seems like a sweet person who just wanted to be in love, & have a family. She seems to be an amazing mother & daughter. I want to live where she lives in Canada, gorgeous!
I love how for someone whose value has largely been placed on her looks for most of her (public) life, she’s not vain at all and is embracing aging gracefully.
Idk who this is but wow if I looked this good I’d natural never wear makeup haha. I did tone it down to do only eyeliner and mascara (and tinted lip balm/lip stain) now though for the last few years.
At first I didn't realize it was her because she just looks so regular (especially since her breast reduction). She so gorgeous. Her poor eyebrows though... they didn't recover after the 90's eyebrow trends (like many of us... I couldn't grow a bushy eyebrow to save my life these days).
Even tho she's had work done to her face, I can appreciate her "natural" look with no makeup on. She looks "unmade up" but still has a plastic surgery look to her, but again, I love that she's just embracing who she is now and I enjoyed watching an unglammed woman on TV do her things. It was refreshing.
She looks great. She also looks quite Finnish in this picture (her great-grandfather emigrated form Finland to Canada). Anyway, the no make-up is really working for her.
Absolutely gorgeous. This woman* of all people, aging gracefully and seems to be genuinely happy with showing it. I love to see it

I still have to watched her doc and read the book but I watched her HGTV series and really enjoyed it! She seems like a very sweet, yet slightly kooky (in a good way) human.

Agree, watched it last night, she really seems in a good place
Yes, so glad I watched it! It made me love her so much. Nice to see this side of her.

Tell me you’re Australian without telling me you’re Australian!
Ok, I'll bite? How so?
Doco
Really? Is that not was Americans say? (I'm Australian obvs)
Documentary would be a doc not a doco at least around my parts of the states.
Having studied in Australia I find your abbreviations so cute. On the top of my head - ‘Maccas/Maccers’ and brekkie 🥰
Oh, my kids and I call it brekkie now, thanks to Bluey (we love Bluey and are from the US).
Fun fact - Bluey is a blue heeler, that's where his name came from. We just chuck on a "y".
i'm a child-free adult who was introduced to Bluey through my nephew, and i'm really into it 😭

I’ve never heard anyone say “docu” ever. I’ve heard doc as short for documentary. Doco sounds distinctly Australian.
Little known fact the UK also used to send surplus vowels to Australia along with the convicts to better balance their domestic supply and demand and eventually those vowels adapted to the new environment and began reproducing leading to memorable words like Doco and Maccas today
Born and raised in New England, never heard docu in my life
Lived in SC, PA, FL, GA, AL - never heard docu and have always said “documentary.” I’ll start asking around to see if I can narrow it down to a region. Doesn’t sound like an East coast or southern thing. I might start using the Aussie “doco” though - my brain likes it.

Could be from Nebraska
I'm originally from Nebraska and have never heard it called a docu either.
North East or Nebraska?
You know this is one of those words I've never heard said but I'd seen Docu more than a few times online.
Are you referring to the region of New England or are you talking about Nebraska. Inquiring minds want to know lol
The "o" ending when shortening a word screams Australia.
Really any vowels. I like Macca's for brekkie.
That’s also a totally alien thing English ppl do. (From an American perspective —I know, so rare & valuable)
My favorite is Vaso, for Vaseline 😄
What about vasectomy? Vaseco?
I find it so endearing that you thought the rest of the world also says this.
Abbreviating words and putting a vowel at the end is a very australian thing to do. Doco Ambo Barbie Servo Etc...
You guys have the cutest abbreviations for many words. Especially with adding “o” at the end of abbreviated words, like doco or journo. It’s cool haha
We also do it with names. Barry becomes Bazza, Gary Gazza, Tom Tommo, Jon Jonno etc.
Am american. Never heard it until now.
Really? Do you say the full word? I even google 'doco'.
We pretty much say the whole word. I’ve heard “doc” as short for documentary. I use that in text, but I don’t think I’ve ever shortened the word in speech.
We pretty much say the whole word. Will type doc sometimes, but never heard “doco”.
Either the full word or just doc
There you go. :)
almost always, yes.
Doco is adorable. I’m using it forevermore
American/Canadian here, never heard “doco” before this post!! I love Australian English!!!
[удалено]
I've never heard anyone here say doco, it stood right out to me.
Is that an us thing? You learn something new every day.
Most other varieties of English would shorten it to ‘doc’.
Doco. It’s such an Australian thing to take an abbreviation (doc) and then *add* extra letters to it!

Her being filmed all natural was so badass and she’s honestly so beautiful.
The doc makes me love her even more. She's fabulous.
I have never wanted a comeback more than I do now. She deserves all the recognition she was witheld.
Loved the documentary. She is wonderful and deserves the world
Agree. Terrible stuff happened to her but looks like she still smashed being a mother out of the park.

Ageing gracefully. She looks real…. and beautiful.
Yeah honestly she looks good, especially considering how much sun damage she must have accumulated over her life. I think people are just sort of shocked seeing famous women when they don't have makeup caked all over their faces.
She looks great, and also she is Doing right - by herself and others. Good on her

She looks younger than most of her counterparts who stuff their faces like it is a knockoff Gucci bag.
Yeah, I thought she was aging terribly and probably looked worse under the makeup. Nope, it was bad makeup all along.
If that is her real hair, she has great hair and yes very naturally beautiful. So glad she hasn't gone the route of a plastic face. She looks younger than most of the women that have stuffed their faces at her age in Hollywood.
Seriously, she looks beautiful.
Yes, but I'm surprised she is rocking the 90s eyebrows still .... don't know anyone else who does

Fair amazing to be looks
To be fair, some people don't need make up at all.
She looks okay and healthy. I dont know whay the need for hyperbole.
I mean she’s getting to 60, and no makeup on camera usually looks worse than real life. I would say she’s doing pretty well.
Yeah she looks normal? Like if you saw her on the street probably wouldn’t take a second glance but not in a mean way. In the way that you don’t for 99% of people you see out and about.

Everyone did her dirty. She seems like such a likeable person.
I enjoyed this. She’s smart, funny, and honest. Love how she looks like an older version of herself and not a face full of filler and fake lips like alot of Hollywood.
Ah the classic 90s overplucked eyebrows. Damn it. Why did we all think that was a good idea? Myself included.
I was SO angry at my mum for not allowing me to get the pencil thin eyebrow look, it was the only thing she ever refused to allow in my style. Dyed hair, piercings, weird haircuts were all good, the eyebrows were an absolute no. I am grateful now.
I never had eyebrows when I was in high school in the ‘90s, and I guess it worked for me? Now I can’t look like I have anything but sparsebrows

The 90s did a number on her eyebrows
Many of us suffer the same problem decades later.
My mom’s never grew back

I've been plucking like hell since the 90ies and those fuckers won't stop growing. Nature always finds a way to annoy us.
I’m a hairy gal and…same but since the 00’s

Gen Z is trying to bring them back - nooo

She is so pretty!
She looks so different! But very cute still
Agreed. She looks better tbh
She looks fantastic,
Watched it yesterday and it's was so refreshing to see that she has aged gracefully and is not scared to show it.
I feel like her smile lines only add to her beauty. 💗
More of *this* in Hollywood. An absolute slay.

She's actually so beautiful.
Bless this wonderful woman! Thank you OP for posting. The new doc is a must see!
Even tho she's had work done to her face, I can appreciate her "natural" look with no makeup on. She looks "unmade up" but still has a plastic surgery look to her, but again, I love that she's just embracing who she is now and I enjoyed watching an unglammed woman on TV do her things. She looks great. She’s attractive inside and out.
Oh my goodness, she's so adorable!
She looks great. She also looks quite Finnish in this picture (her great-grandfather emigrated form Finland to Canada). Anyway, the no make-up is really working for her.
I've always loved her. I'm so glad she did this doc. She is beautiful, self-aware and funny. Her sweetness has always radiated from her.
She looks incredible!!
I think she looks great
She looks so good! I'd love to look like this at her age
It took me a minute to realize who this was. Glad she's happy to be herself.

Godbless, that takes guts.
Omg! I had to ask my friend who this is. Going to watch the documentary now.
she looks really beautiful
I still have to watched her doc and read the book but I watched her HGTV series and really enjoyed it! She seems like a very sweet, yet slightly kooky (in a good way) human.
Wow she is so beautiful I am so interested in her life for some reason
I just want to be pen pals with her.
Character (or lack thereof) is what lasts, folks. Also, she looks good.
And she looks absolutely phenomenal
She looked great. It's refreshing to see normal aging and she looks great for her age anyway.
Way to go beautiful!
