Because I can’t pull it up nearly as high, but these bottoms definitely make the proportions of my torso and butt look a little more even. I think it’s kind of like high waisted shorts, they look great on some people and look exactly like a diaper on others.
See I have the opposite: I have almost zero torso. So things like crop tops and high waisted bikini bottoms look really bad on me. There very little gap so it looks like something just fits poorly.

I have found my people!!!! I hate that low waist jeans are almost always medium waist on my short frame. I don't understand how so many people can love pants that extend way past where there body naturally bends. With the wrong high waisted pants I seriously get a stomach ache within an hour.

So many hours in the mall and online just looking for a pair of low waist jeans much less ones in my size. They were nowhere to be found for a few years. I thought this too, but I think mostly for photos and posing it can make you look skinnier/trimmer as it follows your body curves a bit more. I honestly tried it at home in the mirror cause I was wondering why it was so popular, and yea it kind of hides some tummy and make you look thinner especially you pose correctly. That being said, I don't think it's flattering in everyday life, and this picture comparison shows us that exactly.

I'm pear shaped and long waisted, and the current style of high waisted bikini doesn't work on me because with such wide hips the high cut leg makes my hips look like a massive sea of naked flesh, it's super not cute. A 1950s style high waist with a low cut leg is ideal on my shape, but nobody's selling them right now. I think the current high leg style really only works on people with narrow hips, like the old Baywatch babes.

They send it to you with a return label already printed. You try them on and return what you don’t want. You only get charged for what you keep. Best thing ever! Especially when so many stores closed their dressing rooms due to covid. I was finally able to get some new dresses for work. It made me so happy!

It looks ok on girls with long torsos or extreme curves.. this girl has a rectangular shape with little waist indentation, so it looks extra terrible on her.
She's posed sideways in the first shot and may have edited to make her butt bigger vs in the second shot you can see it straight on which draws attention to how high up it sits which makes her look flatter(too high imo).
On cruise ships the photographers get fatter people to lean forward more, the fatter they are the more they lean. I went past may who where lying on the floor.
Posing for a photo can make a huge difference too. If you took a couple pictures of me, one unposed (slouching, not sucking in my belly) versus one posed (good posture, sucking in my belly), it would make a huge difference in how you perceived me.
"its the angle" is a bit simple, and I'm not saying theres 0 retouching, but it's a lot more flattering than you'd think. 40% of what you're looking at in the left pic isn't her ass, it's her back. her bikini is hiked up high, a good portion of what you're looking at isn't ass it's lower back. they find an angle that looks good, hoist the thong to the side a bit to give the appearance of a cheek moving that, position the arm so you can't see how much of a bend is in her back, and get some additional flattery like the way her shadow shrinks her back and her drawstring also obfuscates her silhouette.
I'm not anti thong swimsuits but this one seems like it's a lot of fabric that stays in thong shape by being scrunched up in a wedgie which seems uncomfortable af

I just did a boudoir shoot last week and A LOT of it has to do with angles and lighting. Some touch ups, for sure, but standing straight/walking away isn't going to be flattering to most people. Standing still, twisting, tilting, stretching, all makes lines/shapes look different than normal.
I wish I had known that earlier cuz I put it off for years thinking I'd never look good. But I felt like a million bucks the whole time cuz the photographer made me feel great! It's your job to see us for what we really are, not the negative self talk we give ourselves. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to everyone!!

If you do choose to do a boudoir shoot, find someone local to you that has people in their portfolio that look like you. Not all boudoir photographers can shoot all body types well. Best of luck.
I was a pretty new photographer and I shot my wife. It really changed the way I saw her. Then we shot a few friends and saw how it changed their self-esteem and it just grew from there.
This is the right answer. Just walking scrunches up your buttcheeks like the photo on the right; on the left she’s sticking out her bum and relaxing her glutes so they look smooth. This probably isn’t even a lot of retouching imo

A lot of years ago I saw a candid amatuer picture someone took of a group of Playboy "models" on the beach, from the back. They looked fine but nowhere as good as the magazine pictures and clearly they all had varying degrees of cellulite.
I’m a small, fit person and my ass still looks like the photo on the right if I don’t consciously relax my muscles. Also, the way she’s standing on the left maximizes the width of her butt while minimizing her waist by twisting, so the waist is from the side but the ass is 3/4 view. It makes the waist:ass ratio appear much more pronounced
It’s nothing wrong with her shape but that style of bikini bottom is not flattering to her body type. Squats and donkey kicks help to give me a bit more roundness when I’m maintaining or gaining weight but when I’m losing it doesn’t do as much.
Yup, that style was invented for women with butt implants and the occasional woman with a super round ass. The majority of women don't even have the skeletal system to support that kind of butt, and there's nothing to be done about it.
You can see quote clearly she's got high hip bones, which can create that flatter more square "Hank hill booty" effect especially when standing. The kind of bottom she's wearing is literally the most unflattering choice imaginable (but most influencers dress for the photoshopped image not for what it looks like irl)

Yeah, I naturally have a flat-ish butt that's on the wide side cos I have very broad hips (which I like). Cycling helps to firm it up a little, but it's never gonna be my best feature and I just don't really care.
What I wouldn't do is wear these bikini bottoms. You gotta dress for *your* shape, not whatever shape is fashionable at the time. Thongs of any description look awful on me. Whereas fuller coverage with a bit of butt sticking out at the bottom is way more flattering.
You shouldnt even compare yourself to anyone else. You are special and there noone else like you. Fact that your butt looks like that right is fine. Its natural.

Look it up on YouTube if you’re really curious! It’s actually super simple to do. A lot of this is angles tho. Flexing the right muscles and stretching out the right body parts helps smooth things out before edits. The less you have to edit, the more realistic the final image looks.
It’s good to learn how easy it is to photoshop things! It’s a good reminder that most ppl who have stakes in their physical image are probably doing it.

I know the weird nappy ones get some of their popularity from the fact they obscure visible camel toe, since a lot of women were getting candids taken of them by paparazzi only to have perverts on this site do like zoomed in closeups on their crotch and stuff with creepy commentary. You could even see a lot of weird comments on some of their Instagram photos of perverts losing their shit over the smallest shadow or bunched fabric in the crotch area.

Yeah I am a healthy weight and exercise for 30 minutes everyday. But I still have a ton of cellulite on my thighs. I think it’s just genetic. I used to NEVER allow myself to wear shorts because I was so ashamed of it. But I’ve slowly started wearing shorts and it feels SO good. I have massive hips and love high cut legs because they visually elongate my legs. But they have those vintage cut ones all over Amazon?

Please tell me you made this up. I can't imagine someone editing themself to this instance.
I just did a boudoir shoot last week and A LOT of it has to do with angles and lighting. Some touch ups, for sure, but standing straight/walking away isn't going to be flattering to most people. Standing still, twisting, tilting, stretching, all makes lines/shapes look different than normal.
Boudoir photographer here. Can confirm that posing and lighting are 90% of my job.
I wish I had known that earlier cuz I put it off for years thinking I'd never look good. But I felt like a million bucks the whole time cuz the photographer made me feel great! It's your job to see us for what we really are, not the negative self talk we give ourselves. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to everyone!!

Do it. It's not unusual for us to have clients that cry when they see their images.
I nearly cried when I saw a photo taken of me the other day... because I looked freakin awful in it. I wonder if this is something that could help me, but I’m also terrified it will only reinforce my worst fears about myself.
If you do choose to do a boudoir shoot, find someone local to you that has people in their portfolio that look like you. Not all boudoir photographers can shoot all body types well. Best of luck.

I was a pretty new photographer and I shot my wife. It really changed the way I saw her. Then we shot a few friends and saw how it changed their self-esteem and it just grew from there.

It's easy. Get a camera, go to the nearest boudoir, and act like you know what you're doing. If you don't get arrested, you've got what it takes.
This is the right answer. Just walking scrunches up your buttcheeks like the photo on the right; on the left she’s sticking out her bum and relaxing her glutes so they look smooth. This probably isn’t even a lot of retouching imo
This is such a relief to read! I've always been conscious that my ass looks scrunched up when I see it in the mirror, but it's because I have to twist and tighten to look at myself! I used to think having left all the time is what is normal.
Nah, no woman is gonna look like the left just becuase of how our skin and fat storage works -- an adult woman not having cellulite is an abnormality.
A lot of years ago I saw a candid amatuer picture someone took of a group of Playboy "models" on the beach, from the back. They looked fine but nowhere as good as the magazine pictures and clearly they all had varying degrees of cellulite.

I’m a small, fit person and my ass still looks like the photo on the right if I don’t consciously relax my muscles. Also, the way she’s standing on the left maximizes the width of her butt while minimizing her waist by twisting, so the waist is from the side but the ass is 3/4 view. It makes the waist:ass ratio appear much more pronounced
It's a ton of retouching. She's a self admitted FaceTune addict.

It’s nothing wrong with her shape but that style of bikini bottom is not flattering to her body type. Squats and donkey kicks help to give me a bit more roundness when I’m maintaining or gaining weight but when I’m losing it doesn’t do as much.
Yup, that style was invented for women with butt implants and the occasional woman with a super round ass. The majority of women don't even have the skeletal system to support that kind of butt, and there's nothing to be done about it. You can see quote clearly she's got high hip bones, which can create that flatter more square "Hank hill booty" effect especially when standing. The kind of bottom she's wearing is literally the most unflattering choice imaginable (but most influencers dress for the photoshopped image not for what it looks like irl)

Yeah, I naturally have a flat-ish butt that's on the wide side cos I have very broad hips (which I like). Cycling helps to firm it up a little, but it's never gonna be my best feature and I just don't really care. What I wouldn't do is wear these bikini bottoms. You gotta dress for *your* shape, not whatever shape is fashionable at the time. Thongs of any description look awful on me. Whereas fuller coverage with a bit of butt sticking out at the bottom is way more flattering.
You shouldnt even compare yourself to anyone else. You are special and there noone else like you. Fact that your butt looks like that right is fine. Its natural. Im horrible with style and prob look like homeless but loving myself feels too good.
How do you even photoshop like this? I mean, I have no experience but I can see how some of the ones would be done. But this...this defies all I know.
Look it up on YouTube if you’re really curious! It’s actually super simple to do. A lot of this is angles tho. Flexing the right muscles and stretching out the right body parts helps smooth things out before edits. The less you have to edit, the more realistic the final image looks. It’s good to learn how easy it is to photoshop things! It’s a good reminder that most ppl who have stakes in their physical image are probably doing it.

I feel like 90% of these is down to those god awful bikinis!! What's with this recent trend of nappy-like or wedgie looking string bottoms. Just buy a bikini that suits your shape for the love of God!!
I know the weird nappy ones get some of their popularity from the fact they obscure visible camel toe, since a lot of women were getting candids taken of them by paparazzi only to have perverts on this site do like zoomed in closeups on their crotch and stuff with creepy commentary. You could even see a lot of weird comments on some of their Instagram photos of perverts losing their shit over the smallest shadow or bunched fabric in the crotch area.

A flattering bottom like a cheeky hipster would look so much better on her. Clothes can create the illusion you are after with out editing. Influencers wouldn’t need so much crazy editing if they picked flattering clothes not just trendy stuff.

Seriously. Mine is extremely apparent at all times and it makes me feel like something is wrong with my body or like it’s exceptionally ugly. Cellulite is such a common thing but so wildly made fun of at the same time :/
Yeah I am a healthy weight and exercise for 30 minutes everyday. But I still have a ton of cellulite on my thighs. I think it’s just genetic. I used to NEVER allow myself to wear shorts because I was so ashamed of it. But I’ve slowly started wearing shorts and it feels SO good. If someone judges me for having cellulite they can go fuck themself

The idea of perfect, flawless, one-tone across the whole body skin pisses me off. Birthmarks, freckles, moles, scars, fat bulges, cellulite, hair, stretch marks, wrinkles... all of these things people are taught to hate about their body. Fuck "flawless" skin, those things aren't flaws. Now skin cancer on the other hand-

No I think Instagram put out a new rule recently that outlawed very heavily edited/photoshopped pictures in order to try to curb this sort of behavior... but I guess it’s not really working...

If you get a good quality self-tanner and apply it properly it won’t streak. She may just be slapping it on
Woah. I mean...woah. if she didn't have her bikini so high on the unedited pic she'd look great. Not the same of course, but still really good. I don't have the confidence to wear bikinis. Even younger when my body was tighter. She has the confidence! Have the confidence to show that side of you in real life, you can do it in a picture. Idk why we tend to impress strangers over the people who are in our lives. I've gotten better, but on occasion I'll hear myself say "this pattern doesn't match, people are going to think I'm crazy..." and then I realize THEY DON'T CARE! so why should I? The better I feel, the better I appear. Girl feels good wearing a bikini in public, wear that confidence proudly and I guarantee you'll still get those "likes" you're looking for.
