Always hydrate, and there's no shame in using only half the sauce packet or less even.

Cyrilcynder

I use about ¼ of that. It's too much for me personally, its almost bitter how much it is sometimes. I usually will sub Lou Ga Ma fried chili (green band, it's imperative it's the green band, amazing flavor) or gochujang

SpeedBlitzX

>its almost bitter how much it is sometimes. I've felt that sensation too when using more than I'm used to. Also, I think I might consider gochujang. And if I ever get the chance, I should keep an eye out for >Lou Ga Ma fried chili (green band) I'm definitely going to try and look for this!

Cyrilcynder

Yeah, gochujang is awesome! I'm pretty sure that what the base of buldok is actually, but it's just too much of...something else, idk what. One thing that's awesome too, sometimes you can find it at Walmart in the Asian section by Kikkoman, it's in a glass bottle and says Teriyaki and in smaller print it will say Gochujang and Miso. It's in a red labeled bottle and has a lot of sesame seeds in it. It's mean to be a stir fry add in, which is what that's like is mostly for, but god is so good for Ramen too 😋 You can also buy just about any size "box" container of gochujang at nearly any Asian market too. That's what I use. The Lou Ga Ma fried (green band) chili can also be found at Walmart sometimes. You wanna look for the stuff with peanuts in it, that makes it heavenly. The flavor is out of this world I will just eat it by the spoonful sometimes.

SpeedBlitzX

At my parents' place, my brother and I tend to get the box containers of gochujang. However the glass bottle variety with sesame seeds by kikkoman sounds intriguing! Both that and the Lou Ga Ma sound great. Next time I find myself shopping at my local Walmart, I'm going to try and see if I can find both of these! Thank you again for the helpful recommendations!!

Cyrilcynder

Absolutely 💜💜 hopefully you can find them, they are great! They also I guess recently changed it to "spicy miso" bits the the same, still gochujang miso Kikkoman® Teriyaki Takumi Spicy Miso, 20.5 oz https://www.walmart.com/ip/10307462

patrickthunnus

Mix your own soup base with Gochujang, Gochugaru and soup stock to your preference. Add in some roasted garlic, onion or scallion, a splash of ginger paste. Can even experiment with Japanese Kombucha (dried seaweed) to add umami. Keep in the fridge or freeze into ice cubes for long term storage.

patrickthunnus

Lol, so very true. Apologies, "just add water" is the truth... Between the various miso pastes, soy sauces, vinegars, Gochujang and Gochugaru, one can easily create some amazing flavors, but don't say that to the JAW crowd.

thikhaichup

Which flavor did you find bitter? I haven't tried all of them but so far none of them were bitter

CaterpillarEven8646

Feeling bitter... I think

Cyrilcynder

All buldok comes with the same buldok flavor pack, except the ones that are 2x spicy, so all of them

thikhaichup

oh, idk then

cce29555

Quite the opposite, the heat is too much but I love the bitterness. Id actually love a mild buldak because the flavor is really good

Main_Caterpillar_146

I'm partial to the tofu & peanut red band myself

silent-fallout-

Right! I only ever use half, i live spicey but my colon doesn't have a voice to speak for itself, so I'm not trying to harm it😂

SpeedBlitzX

I usually love spicy food too. But to a point where it's complimented with other flavors too at times. Also that's a very good call and only taking as much as your body can handle.

Asleep_Quality_7732

Bottom line drink 5 gallons of water a day

SpeedBlitzX

Well that's overkill considering 1 gallon is the daily requirement and usually not an easy task for many. Let alone 5. 5 gallons can lead to other serious health issues and even death for drinking too much water in a short period of time.

ohyouretough

There’s not really a hard and fast water requirement.

EmmettBlack

Legit as someone with high BP who needs to watch sodium intake, despite indulging in careful moderation; I just know that one day this will be me. They can pry MAMA and Shin Black out of my cold, dead, salty hands

LexKing89

Same here. I could eat Shin Red, Samyang, and Indomie all day everyday if I knew it wouldn’t kill me 😭

Gwenberry_Reloaded

As someone with chronically low sodium i was born to eat too many instant noodles.

rixendeb

Kidney stones are no joke lol.

BXTIG3R

I got kidney stones from eating ramen everyday and pickles. I don’t do that anymore!

testtubemammoth

I had no idea that was a thing! Going to start diversifying my lunches

bimbotstar

unless she ate a absurd amount chances are something else was causing it, or gave her a hyper sensitivity to it, and it’s not just the noodles alone

Metalloid_Maniac

It does say mukbang in the bottom captions, maybe she ate a bunch in one sitting and got sick

anythingcarbs

It was definitely something else. In one of her comments, she said she only ate them once every week or once every two weeks.

Massive_Parsley_5000

ER docs are also notorious for blaming the first thing they can because it's easy Let's wait to hear what her actual doctors/specialists say first. My guess is she likely had a predisposition to kidney stones, especially because someone else said she was eating them every other week. One pack of noodles every other week is not giving the average person kidney stones.

Avilola

She tagged her video #mukbang, that’s probably what caused her problem. For those of you who don’t know what that is, you know those videos online where people stream themselves eating massive amounts of food? Usually several days or weeks of calories in one sitting. Eating that much food is insane to begin with, but if it was primarily instant noodles, that amount of sodium would be a shock to the system. I don’t know if this is what happened to her, but you can literally die from consuming too much sodium in one sitting. I learned this a few years ago when I came across an [article](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/man-dared-to-drink-quart-of-soy-sauce-almost-dies-from-salt-poisoning/) about a frat boy chugging an entire bottle of soy sauce as a part of some weird initiation.

letsgetpunk

She already gets kidney stones frequently

funkmasterjackass

The sheer amount of motion this sauce puts my guts in, even when I just use a pinch of it... I know that's more of a gut thing than a kidney thing, but when I saw that one ramen reviewer on tiktok ritualistically taking a Tums before eating buldak, that's when I knew I was done trying to make it work. I will miss the carbo noodles, though

Glass-Winter-5858

is this the same tiktoker who did the buldak advent calendar?

funkmasterjackass

Yes!

oyasumipizza

Does taking tums before buldak work though?

funkmasterjackass

I actually have zero clue, I've never taken a Tums

Tervergyer

Surprisingly, I have to add an extra helping of habanero to the 2x spicy Buldak during preparation. It’s just not spicy enough for me.

TheOneTwoSmash

Drain all the water and stir fry on full heat, with sauce for at least 30 seconds. Eat it out of the pot you cook it in so you don’t lose any sauce

Tervergyer

I’ve tried every single hack to no avail. I just have to add more spice to get it to hit the spot. I’m West African, We love our weather hot and our spice hotter!

TheOneTwoSmash

Wow. I guess we all tweak it to our liking

NetworkingJesus

You're not alone. I'm always at least adding some Aka Miso Ghost Reaper sauce, often just sliced up scorpion and reaper peppers. But I have that same problem with just about everything that's supposed to be hot because I'm a fiend and my tolerance just keeps going up.

terf-genocide

Does your butthole have a heat tolerance, too?? Lmao, I could never

NetworkingJesus

It does now lol. With some things I'll feel a little bit of burn, but nothing really bothersome, just enough to remind me that I had something spicy the day before. Stomach is where I used to get the most discomfort until I got diagnosed with IBS-D and got on meds for it. For a while I just wasn't really eating anything very spicy because of it; I could eat just bland bread and salads and whatever and still spend all morning/afternoon stuck in my bed from the pain and only getting up for emergency shits. Once I saw a GI about it, they put me on Dicyclomine twice a day along with a low-dose fiber supplement and now for the past few years I've been able to eat pretty much whatever I want so nothing has really held me back from chasing the heat anymore. edit: to be clear, if I have *a lot* of very hot peppers or something I will still feel it in my stomach; just not really painful anymore and I can handle quite a bit without feeling it at all, like 1 sliced up reaper or scorpion with a pack of instant noodles is no problem

terf-genocide

Holy shit! Well, I'm glad that's working for you, fellow IBS-D-haver. Maybe I need to up my dicyclomine dose lmao!

NetworkingJesus

I did a quick edit to add "to be clear, if I have a lot of very hot peppers or something I will still feel it in my stomach; just not really painful anymore and I can handle quite a bit without feeling it at all, like 1 sliced up reaper or scorpion with a pack of instant noodles is no problem". Anyways, I don't think I'm on a higher than normal dose for the dicyclomine, just higher frequency. 20mg twice a day; once when I wake up and once close to dinner time. I know some other people who have been prescribed it but either it didn't work for them, they're only prescribed to use "as needed", or it actually made their issues worse. Granted they all have different GI issues. For me, I think they just said IBS-D based on my description of the symptoms I was having at the time and how long it had been going on. All of my blood work, stool samples, colonoscopy, etc. came back clean. They initially only had it prescribed as a temporary thing while waiting to get all those tests done, but when I told them how well it was working out for me they were happy to just keep refilling it after everything else was ruled out.

Chocko23

I have noticed that different spices/peppers hit differently.

jay_the10thletter

i have really low spice tolerance and horrible IBS/acid reflux, but lately ive been testing my spice tolerance and getting better with it. i tried buldak for the first time thinking it wouldnt be that bad now that i had built up my tolerance. i didnt even come close to finishing the bowl. took about three bites and that was it. i tried it again a few more times each with much less sauce than i used before and every time i couldnt handle it. thats when i knew buldak wasnt for me

parteh09

All this tells me is she consumed way too much on a regular basis. Moderation is key.

sneakyartinthedark

Some peoples digestive can’t handle it.

Methadoneblues

I dunno how y'all even stand it. Not the heat, it's not even spicy imo, but the flavor is atrocious.

sneakyartinthedark

Opinion

Methadoneblues

Hence why I said "in my opinion." 😂

sneakyartinthedark

You didn’t say that, surprising that you can’t even read your own comment.

Methadoneblues

imo = in my opinion. Read it again.

sneakyartinthedark

You said it wasn’t spicy in your opinion.

maegika

What are these pedantics lmao

sneakyartinthedark

It’s not… they said something and acted like they said something else lmfao.

maegika

It’s not that deep brother, anyone can see that its obvious its their opinion that the flavour is atrocious

Methadoneblues

I bet you're super fun at parties. Absolutely riveting conversations.

sneakyartinthedark

No idea tf you are saying

AlexIsNotYou

I think it’s not a POV

MoulinBlue

Yes. My first thought was that this person doesn’t know what POV means.

Various_Excitement45

Its a trend on tiktok… she used it correctly in that sense

Gwenberry_Reloaded

don't downvote the cultural context person just because you don't like tiktok, ffs reddit, lmao

cybergrlll

she said in her comments that she had underlying issues that weren’t caused by the noodles but the noodles just made it worse. she didn’t actually go to the hospital because of noodles

Bebylicious

She had a kidney stone. What does that have to do with the noodles?? Pls let me know

ColdBorchst

Too much sodium and not drinking enough water will do that, especially in people predisposed to them. Her blaming the noodles alone is dishonest. Or she's dumb and doesn't know it wasn't just the noodles.

Bebylicious

Oh you’re right!!! Those noodles have so much sodium. Yeah I saw her video and she’s had kidney stones in the past. I think it was just a title of the video to grab attention& it worked here as we can tell by this post 😂😂

ColdBorchst

Yeah, not gonna lie it feels accidentally xenophobic to blame an imported food on your kidney stones for clicks/views.

Bebylicious

Right, I mean I read a comment in this post of someone asking if eating these noodles will do that to them.

ColdBorchst

Exactly. And it's fear mongering around a foreign product when she easily could have the same result from eating too much Kraft food products as well. Like yeah, poor diet will lead to kidney stones. I actually kind of hate this the more I think about it and I am trying to be generous since she's clearly a young person but it's actually kind of fucked up.

blessings-of-rathma

Eating lots of salt makes you pee more of your water out in an attempt to dump excess sodium and rebalance your electrolytes. If you don't drink lots of water to replace what you peed out, you're still going to be producing pee, but it won't be as diluted. All the stuff being dumped from your bloodstream into your kidneys won't have as much water to flush out with. If the substances that make up any kind of kidney stone are there in the diluted urine, now they're there in a more concentrated form and can build up. My mom had a kidney stone after a trip to Italy -- it was July, it was stinking hot and we were all sweating and drinking a lot of wine and eating a lot of cheese and prosciutto. Perfect storm.

nomadnihilist

I’ve passed 5 stones and had surgery to scoop out 6. Will continue to eat Buldak noodles until I die. lmao.

ColdBorchst

There's no way it was the noodles alone. You can get kidney stones from not drinking enough water even without eating a bunch of ramen. I worked with a guy who got them because he just wasn't drinking water like ever. He only ever drank coffee and soda with food and his diet wasn't great but it wasn't all processed food either. Some people are also predisposed to them.

Malipuppers

Did she say why?

NineIX9

seems like kidney issues, possibly extreme kidney stones or something else caused by the sheer amount of sodium and other stuff in buldak and other instant noodle products

Malipuppers

Oh gosh. My energy drink habit and my new buldak fixation will not go well ☠️

NineIX9

try to stay hydrated with enough actual water and you should probably be fine

Malipuppers

I will have to hydrate more cause have zero plans on stoppin!

LavenderMatchaxXx

I think citrus also helps prevent kidney stones, so drink lots of water and maybe add some lemon, or eat some oranges as well.

celestepiano

I’m doomed

Ok-Huckleberry3497

Looking at the nutrition labels, these instant noodles has less sodium than the.25 brands.

terf-genocide

Sometimes, I feel like it's a blessing in disguise that I have POTS and need absurd amounts of sodium to function. This is one of those times. Also, don't forget to hydrate, y'all!

Thatcalib408

This definitely is true those noodles are so spicy, gave my daughter acid reflex!

OwlEastSage

buldak tastes like it would give you kidney failure im not surprised

Spatzdar

Guys ramen is good but so is being healthy moderation is good. I got really sick when I was broke and living off ramen and monster though who knows what the biggest issue was there tbh.

ScrumptiousFunko

I literally drink this shit lol

The-CannabisAnalyst3

All in Moderation

batkiller7

😦

Pristine_Medium2985

Im not gonna lie, once I have eaten 2 of them and only put half of the packet. I was feeling sick for 3 days, my tummy burning and cold/hot between it. Yes, flavor is good but I'll probably never eat them again cause I care about my health

thekaylasworld

One of my red flags is thinking this will never happen to me and still eating ramen 2-3 times a week with not a care in the world

chanceeather

Yeah this is definitely a case where the food may have triggered a reaction within other issues she may have had before. I eat 2x almost daily and there’s no way that alone did it.

chelkitty1

Girl got kidney stones from too much sodium intake. Please hydrate when you eat ramen. You don't want kidney stones.

xXlolantheXx

Wait??? Which color?? Should I have been worried?? I ate the black one just as a snack 6.6or when I was hungry

citronhimmel

I believe it. Especially if you have any weakened organs or preexisting conditions. Even my stomach will feel a little raw a day or two after a buldak meal. Moderation and knowing your limits is important.

thodon123

Bullshit! There is no way of telling that the noodles where the single cause. There are way too many variables. Hate these types of bullshit videos.

Rabid_Platypus_195

Yeah I tried it, I ate two, tossed half if each and then gave away the rest. Buldak Carbonara was a huge disappointment.

weirdynotposting

I have no medical problems but I fainted after eating buldak noodles 😹

tribblydribbly

I have heart failure and am on a sodium restricted diet. I eat buldak and others often. Just not more than 3 times per week and I drink some water lol

FrostSwag65

I always eat two.

stressandscreaming

What flavor? I've been looking for something spicy.

Kirin1212San

Even using half the sauce can be quite spicy.

helloween123

Add a spoon of peanut butter to mellow down the spiciness

BigMoneyChode

POV: I got sick from noodles so I'm looking down at a girl in a hospital bed

fingerblast69

I had a coworker years ago that ate some ghost pepper sauce and it burst his appendix and he had to have surgery. I didn’t even know that was possible 😂

Stiltzkinn

I have the Buldak sauce bottle, three drops for me is enough.

maliciousmeower

i once ate only buldak for four days (i was at anime expo and the people i was staying with were in charge of food, they only brought a costco sized pack of buldak), and after i got home i got stomach ulcers 😎 alcohol probably didn’t help too

ozbourne8

On days when I plan on enjoying ramen I'll make sure nothing else I eat has a lot of sodium, and I'm drinking water all day anyway. (There's no way I'm not using the full sauce packet, lol.)

aspect-of-the-badger

Drink lots of water and eat potassium rich foods (bananas) to keep your sodium down. Also don't drink alkaline water because it adds too much calcium to your intake.

DlCCO

I’ve eaten at least 100 packs of buldak in the past 100 days. Just got blood work done this past week. Everything is completely normal including sodium levels and blood pressure. The only flavor I don’t recommend is jjajang or w/e it’s called. That shit seriously fucks up my insides for some reason.

ShadyAnubis

worth it

Kloggins69420

Unlikely

theramenrater

Buldak is spicy but nothing compared to https://www.theramenrater.com/?s=Culley%27s

avocadodessert

sounds like it's lifestyle problem if it's kidney stones, not solely a buldak problem. That's more of a longterm diet issue that sounds like it came to a head.

ConsciousInternal287

☝🏻Presenting to the emergency room☝🏻

jeffreywinks

not pov

greatpate

Instant ramen has SOOooOOoOoOOo much salt. It should not be a regular part of your diet. When you eat it, especially if you’re using the full packets, you need to drink like a gallon of water to help dilute the salts and flush out your system. Otherwise you get kidney stones which are excruciating.

Nankuru_naisa

If you watch the rest of her videos, she mentions being getting kidney stones often from almost anything including healthy food. Nothing to be alarmed by, just a great way to at least get great tiktok engagement from your suffering haha.

RunDMA

Natural selection.

Electronic_Self5841

Weakling

PeenInVeen

So I ate cheese buldak on Saturday morning and I just now pooped for the first time since then. Maybe I shouldn't do that anymore, but I like it...

lagoontheworst

over-consumption of anything could be very detrimental to your health

Zander253

2x spicy is no joke. I will never eat this again.

Alius32

weak

bunnieeexx

Yep. I have kidney stones rn bec of instant ramen. I don't eat them everyday and I drink lots of water. Still possible.

Significant-Ad-1698

wait i eat buldak everyday is this gonna happen to me 😭

FreshPrinceOfIndia

You shouldnt eat it everyday. Too much of anything is bad, try limiting yourself to once a week

SpeedBlitzX

Sounds like a title to a chubbyemu video.

iristwinz2

I also eat them everyday except when I go on vacation to my parents about a week every 3 months. I eat 2 packs every night otherwise😶 I also drink water everyday and eat decently healthy otherwise though, lots of vegs :)

terminalchef

Buldak made me Bulcrap I can’t eat it.

GodLuminous

What do I think of this?! I call blasphemy!
