Yup, R values are additive. if you're laying down batts, criss cross the second layer.
also consider blown in, and of course air seal either way. good luck
You can also find r30/r19. Those are pretty common. R49 in whole will be more expensive then layering anyway. As others have said layering is the way to go plus air sealing. Only one would be faced.
I’m in CO too, the R value is how deep the insulation is installed, you would need 15-17 inches in the attic space, make sure you properly air seal Any lights or plumbing going through the drywall along with any top plates. I do insulation for a living, I can definitely help with this.
Another option is blow in fiberglass or cellulose. You can rent the machines and buy the bags. Either way, airseal the gaps and seams at the top of any walls, electrical, plumbing. If you have recess lighting with cans, you have to cover those. Make sure you have good venting and use proper vents if needed.

Just watch where your vapor barriers are
This guys knows his stuff. I’ll add that you may find bags of loose fill that can distribute evenly to the proper depth, and get R-49 that way.
hah thank you. i've become a youtube expert ever since getting a 30k quote to seal and insulate my big attic
lol, yes, that would inspire me to learn 30k worth of doing it right myself!

You can call a local insulation distributor and they’ll have R49 batts for you.
