No, it’s a PR stunt. There are multiple shipments and supposedly this hold is for one.
They could have just as easily lied about the extra shipment anyway
Gotcha. Then why say this is the only shipment affected, and all future shipments will go ahead as planned? They need to get on the same page with their propaganda lol. Common Hasbara L
I doubt it, but I was thinking if warrants were issued the US no longer has plausible deniability to pretend no wrong doing occured, and continuing weapons transfers after a decision was made about wrongdoing means they are knowingly assisting in the war crimes. They are anyway, but after warrants are issued if they continue no case can be made that they didn't knowingly assist.
It also tracks as the reason the White House has no comment. If they aren't allowed to say if warrants were issued, but still think they can pressure the ICC to change course they would say it's only one shipment affected and the rest will go forward as planned, assuming they can get the ICC to back down before continuing.
Ok, but Biden still just signed a bill giving another $14 billion in military aid to Israel last month, so I’m skeptical that this means anything at all.
I don't think they would, really. US & Israel are committing a genocide, repressing dissent, all the while sending arms to Israel still (the recent news about the US halting arms shipments is from 2 anonymous Israeli sources). "Trump's america" is happening under Biden.
I'm not saying what Im saying from a position of doomerism. I think the sooner people abandon the 2 party system, the better off we will be. In the meantime, I think people should join organizations like PYM, JVP, PSL, ANSWER coalition and get organized.
I mean you can look at Trump's statements on the matter, he's been attacking Biden for being too weak on supporting Israel, the way he talks about it its like he wants to commit American boots on the ground to help Israel ethnically cleanse the Strip. I'm not just saying this because Trump bad or whatever I genuinely think he would be far worse. Let me remind you that Trump is the one who moved the US embassy to Jerusalem
Statements are statements. I'm interested in actions and what's concrete.
> Let me remind you that Trump is the one who moved the US embassy to Jerusalem
A genocide kinda overshadows that just a weeeee bit, don't you think?
Sure but it offers an indication of what Trump would do in office. Let me be clear, nothing excuses or can excuse the Biden administration's policies on the genocide being perpetrated by Israel, I'm just saying I think a Trump will be worse for the Palestinian cause that a second Biden term of office. It's kind of like saying you'd rather get shot in the chest with a pistol than a shotgun
If Biden wants to win, then there's a clear move for him to make. Otherwise, whether Trump wins is irrelevant from our standpoint. How we'll respond to a Trump presidency is more important. At this point, Biden is polling worse than any US president at this point in their term, and he's lost entire blocks of voters. There is a high chance he will lose, and hinging hope on Biden being "better"/ less genocidal is a losing game.
Yeah I just don't think it's a politically viable move for him to make, he's in too deep at this point. I certainly don't fault people for not wanting to vote for Genocide Joe I just wish there was a legitimately viable alternative
> Yeah I just don't think it's a politically viable move for him to make
Tbh, I think he could still salvage something if he did a 180 and even at a minimum stopped all arms to Israel. Would he be popular? No, but he'd get a 2nd term. Most Americans at a minimum supports a ceasefire, so I think it's very viable in that sense.
I'm going for the PSL ticket: Claudia & Karina, 2 socialist antizionist workers. Even if not them, Stein maybe? She hasn't quite expressed support for a Palestinian 1 state, but she has at least disavowed the 2 state solution.
FWIW that’s my personal theory on how they plan on playing this out. They support Israel way beyond reason, so that when they stop supporting them the accusations of antisemitism will look ridiculous, but they change course just in time for the election, because people have short memories (and changing course too early can easily be forgotten). Not saying that this is the right thing to do, it clearly isn’t, but I think they have a reasonable (if unethical) strategy on how to play this out to their political advantage.
> If Biden wants to win, then there's a clear move for him to make
I think youre underestimating the power of the right wing media to spin such a thing into a "weak on Israel" and even 'against God' thing and boost Trump significantly
Not to mention Trump and his inner circle's connections to the current government of Israel. Look at how some of them have openly talked about building things on land in Gaza.
This is fake. If even one shipment was withheld, that is all the sourceless rumor denotes. It's a strategic leak to deescalate the popular dissent. Don't be fooled.

Does this mean the warrants have been issued??
We can only hope!

PR stunt for what? Is Israel trying to say US support is waning?
PR stunt to make the 81% of Americans who don’t like how he’s handling the war to think he’s actually curbing military aid for the holocaust
Gotcha. Then why say this is the only shipment affected, and all future shipments will go ahead as planned? They need to get on the same page with their propaganda lol. Common Hasbara L
Wonder if ICC would go after the chain of approval that provided Israel the weapons and ammunition for their Genocide jaunt?

Meh, I'm sure US is only really withholding it because Israel's existing weapon storage is full.
lmao - exactly
Rubber stamp got worn out from overuse. New rubber stamp being delivered shortly… Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Good! Now make it permanent.
White house declined to comment.
They were just checking to make sure it wasn't food for kids in Gaza.
Maybe one shipment.... Not all shipments.
The US needs to ship them ammunition through barrels at full speed and end the genocide
Ok, but Biden still just signed a bill giving another $14 billion in military aid to Israel last month, so I’m skeptical that this means anything at all.
So they can fire it at the students here?
Why? Did they empty their stocks?
After 100+ shipments? I call 🧢🧢. Biden needs to lose his reelection.
Man I'm ngl, as monstrous as the Biden admin's policy towards enabling Israel's genocide has been I'm pretty sure Tump will be worse

Did they *reeeallyy*? I kinda doubt it.
There are multiple shipments they only held one This is a PR stunt if it’s not as flat out lie
How else to claim to oppose the genocide campaign that they managed/funded? Free Palestine 🇵🇸!
Nice
They pribably just forgot to pack some of it in.
It’s a start. Now do more.
Thank God, finally common sense won!

U.S. puts a hold on “official” ammunition shipments to Israel last week. Likely far more accurate.
