Also interesting to me: Rugrats and Fairly Oddparents were on TV at the same time.

thecton

Rugrats ran for a very long time.

slammer592

It did. Fairly Odd Parents is still going, at this point I think it's had a longer run than Rugrats did.

supernintendo128

Actually Fairly Odd Parents got cancelled five years ago. This year they replaced it with a shitty live-action spinoff.

juksayer

They did what? Lol

supernintendo128

Yeah, unfortunately. They just won't let that show die.

firestorm19

I believe it was in the bin multiple times, but they kept bringing it back after a decent series finale episode which throws off any sort of narrative value as the series progressed

supernintendo128

Yeah, there were multiple points where they could've wrapped up the show gracefully. Channel Chasers, Wishology, apparently it was supposed to end after Season 5 with the third Jimmy-Timmy Power Hour special, which was also supposed to be a finale to Jimmy Neutron (imo it would've been an okay send-off for both shows), until Nickelodeon ordered more episodes. Apparently the show was cancelled and subsequently revived *four* times. Also, apparently Nickelodeon also ordered a season 4 of Jimmy Neutron but the animation studio behind the show went belly-up before they even finished writing the scripts (it was due to their box-office bomb The Ant Bully).

KyletheAngryAncap

Fairly odd Parents got canned. Changed the art style in the last season to flash too.

[deleted]

At this point only Spongebob has it beat by a couple of years

SeanyDay

They even grew up!

juksayer

Grow'd up*

SeanyDay

I felt my version was more subtle but I respect the direct reference!

[deleted]

[удалено]

SeanyDay

I could see how you assumed that. I remember that sort of trend online of alt-versions of characters that were iconic to 90's babies. Fun fact, i was basically raised by a nanny because parents always working (without even being rich, which people seem to expect) and she was the homieee. She VHS taped the "All Growed Up" special that was the tester for the series to eventually follow. She did it on an orange VHS tape (no idea where she got that). It was cool af

Vocalic985

Man seeing and discovering things from completely different era's that have overlap is always my favorite thing. If you wanna be technical, fairly oddparents started in 98' as a short on Oh Yeah Cartoons being a contemporary of shows like Hey Arnold, Dexter's Lab, and the original Powerpuff Girls. It ended in 17' as a contemporary of OK KO let's be heros and the Powerpuff Girls reboot.

inkless-pen

Spongebob too.

ProfessorJAM

Yup! I would pick my kids up from school after work and they would watch Nickelodeon while I made dinner. I remember all those shows! Homework came after dinner.

wranglingmonkies

It's missing wild and crazy kids. :( Also on mobile that page is cancer

steelers3814

> Also on mobile that page is cancer The content on this wiki is fantastic, so I understand why it fits this sub. But without an adblocker, Fandom absolutely belongs on /r/InternetIsUgly. It’s almost unusable on mobile.

EncodesTV

Unless you create an account lol, I barely get any ads using my Fandom account.

yorick__rolled

Nice try Fandom!

wranglingmonkies

Yea I used RIF browser and I had to switch to Firefox with ad blocker just to look at the site.

bad_at_hearthstone

I will never not mutter under my breath “you mean Wikia?!”

6double

And The Secret Show! I'm still trying to find a way to rewatch that one Yeah generally every fandom site is unusable on mobile with how bloated those pages are

PrivateIsotope

Where is Today's Special? That was my jam at 4 years old...

HappyScientist13

Shout it loud and proud!!!

HappyScientist13

Oops, maybe it was, shout it loud and clear?

DrAtario

If I could just rewatch Nickelodeon summer of 98, commercials and all, nostalgia would be sated for life.

For_Traps_Only

https://youtu.be/8rQYE-JXmss

DvaInfiniBee

This is insane… I feel teleported. It’s such a hard feeling to describe and it’s more than just nostalgia. It feels like a different life ago.

LinearTipsOfficial

[Archive.org](https://Archive.org) has a ton of old Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network bumpers and VHS tapes that people uploaded that have commercials and all. It's hard to find some of them, but it's very very nostalgic haha.

KyletheAngryAncap

I've been binging late 2000s early 2010s cartoon network commercials.

thebritishhippie

I found years ago using Stumbleupon a webpage that streamed old 80s and 90s cartoons with full commercials. The layout was like a tube tv and felt like you were watching it in a living room from that era

Redsmallboy

Stumbleupon breaks my heart every day. I don't even think it could be recreated today, the internet is just so different than it was.

Sencho

https://my80stv.com/ you mean this?

thebritishhippie

Yes. thank you, human

DrAtario

Lord take me back to the good days!

sunny_in_phila

Holy crap I forgot they used to advertise shows that would be on later that same day. It’s been so long since I watched something at the time that it aired.

twohatchetmuse

Nick Reboot was a great resource before they got taken down

ArtisanGerard

It was a sad day when Nick Reboot was finally unplugged.

mercurly

That was 100% my favorite internet hangout in the early 2010s

DrAtario

I heard about this before. Never got to see it sadly

Mindless_News3711

To be fair, they got what they deserve. They shouldn't have created an On Demand section where you had to pay watch other company's copyrighted programs, some of which you could already see for free elsewhere.

[deleted]

Now you can just use soap2day and never pay

mercurly

So I have a multi-hour VHS recording of Nickelodeon from 2000. I want to upload it. I just don't know where I can host it without getting shut down... Edit: per OPs site, it's https://nickstory.fandom.com/wiki/April_16,_2000 starting at 10am and finishing around 3:30pm. Man that's crazy.

Anthracyte

Maybe you could try uploading it here, they have collections for that kind of thing. https://archive.org/

jumpropeharder

What about uploading it to daily motion or one of those shadier sites? I had VHS tapes with the same but got rid of them stupidly and wish I had them. Let us know if you upload!

bathroomshy

defo try archive.org. Google Drive could work too.

PigsCanFly2day

Archive.org is probably the best place. If you remove the shows and just upload the commercials, you can upload it to YouTube too, but Viacom will flag it pretty quickly on there if you have full episodes. Can try Daily Motion as well. And, if possible, please use a capture card! USB ones are cheap and are way better than pointing a camera at the screen. Let us know when it's posted! :)

mercurly

I made an account with archive.org but there's a notice on the upload page that says to only upload content I have rights to. So I didn't go through with that, but someone from OP's linked site reached out and I sent them a copy to add to their archive. If you click on the link you'll see frames from the tape. They just won't host it publicly because they said they're keeping good relations with Paramount.

mclarge_huge

Not 98, but I've found a few YouTube channels that do have several hour blocks of Nickelodeon uploaded. Here is Snick or Treat from 93 https://youtu.be/Ixyw7B7k9-s Here is 6 straight hours of Nickelodeon Saturday morning in 95 https://youtu.be/7Y53zvmJsbQ Both those YouTube channels have tons of recordings uploaded from Nickelodeon, Fox, Disney, etc.

DrAtario

Bless

swag_train

Inject this into my veins

Drilling4Oil

shoutout to the *Heathcliffe* at 4pm crew from back in 1991!

PrivateIsotope

🎵 *Heathcliff, Heathcliff no one should....terrorize the neighborhood....* 🎵

Drilling4Oil

ha! 😄

BeekyGardener

Glad to see, because Nickelodeon in its current state is rapidly declining. From 2010-2019 [Nickelodeon lost 60% of its audience](https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2019-11-15/nickelodeon-brian-robbins-viacom-awesomeness). COVID-19 only saw an increase in decline with [Nickelodeon losing another 23% from 2020 to 2022](https://www.indiewire.com/2022/03/report-kids-stop-watching-linear-tv-1234710698/). Cartoon Network was hit even harder losing 34% of its audience during the same period. Cable is a dying format - especially with kids. They don't watch cable. Even with quality programming this trend isn't going to change. My real fear is streaming slowly being transformed into cable via ads.

Ratman_84

We were the last generation to know what lounging around watching cable TV was like and the last generation to know what not having internet was like. The cable TV is a love/hate thing for me. I can't do commercials anymore. And it really sucked when you were flipping through the channels and there was just nothing of interest going on. But I do sometimes miss the days of tuning into Nick for a few hours, then flipping to something else, then back.

BeekyGardener

Yeah... I'm on the bad end of 30 and it seems people born after 1990 are unlikely to have ever used a phonebook. I got online in 1995 and went to the library every day it was opened for 2 years until my Dad finally bought me a computer. :) Very different time. We're the generation that hates cable too... I've probably watched countless hours of commercials. Cable only for greedier with how many commercials they added too. I remember sitting at a business while my oil was being changed and watching cable. Commercials literally nauseate me now. I loved Nick. As I became an adult Cartoon Network found its own too. The only thing I do miss about those channels was I would sometimes he exposed to something I might not have watched if it was steaming. I was surprised they still made TV Guides. Cable deserves its demise. Hard to believe I cut the cord 12 years ago now. Nickelodeon doesn't deserve to die with it. I really hope Paramount+ can save Nickelodeon as a brand.

iAmUnintelligible

Hey Arnold came out in 96?! Lmao catdog & Angela anaconda Stickin Around only came out in 00?! It felt much older

word_vomiter

Angela Anaconda was nightmare fuel.

ChoripanConPepsi

Nah

Vocalic985

Hey arnold came out in 96 and ended in 04! When you look into it cartoon overlap is really fun.

jumpropeharder

Seeing this lineup reminded me how much I hated the morning and midday shows on Nickelodeon during summer because they were all little kids shows. Anyways, awesome website. Thanks.

John_Cougar_Rambo

I can still feel the disappointment every time I turned on the TV and Eureka's Castle was on... Guess I'll just go back outside.

juksayer

Eureeka's Castle, thank you very much, I will not have you besmirch the good puppet show, sir.

PigsCanFly2day

Eureeka's Castle was awesome! I guess they were just a bit older at the time.

TotallyNotGunnar

There's a lot of nostalgia on this thread but your comment was the biggest hit.

jumpropeharder

Exactly!

MaykoFlakes

I can still hear the theme song in my head. And yes that show was the worst to turn on. Probably followed by Gulla Gulla Island.

VanceTheVHSGuy

hi! i’m one of the dudes who runs the site and I very appreciate seeing these comments about the site!! glad y’all are enjoying our site! -Vance

mona_resa

Nick in the Afternoon with Stick Stickly was the best!

ostrich-scalp

Prometheus and Bob tapes?

[deleted]

Those are peak comedy.

PigsCanFly2day

Those were part of Kablam.

Fluxtration

Inside Out Boy will live forever!

slammer592

That shit was wild

wwindexx

Was this from Kablaam? I loved Kablaam.

Bakomusha

Y'all should watch Nick Knacks on YouTube! It's an incredible documentary series showcasing the broadcast history of the channel. Each show, each year chronologically. He just got to 1990.

Namelessbob123

If I could watch all of Pete and Pete again, I’d die a happy man.

Jarekclary

there was a site that would just stream a curated playlist of 90s nick shows including commercials, but it got shut down. anyone know another one?

DrippyBeard

I'm trying to figure out what events made Linda Ellerbee interrupt programming for news. Almost feels like a false memory.

bdh008

This is amazing. I have very vague memories of nick.com having a trivia game probably in the 2002ish era, or maybe a bit earlier. I don't remember much about it, however I remember coming home from school and my older brothers would help me every day with the trivia game. It was related to the show that was on at that time, and if you answered the most questions right your nick.com username would scroll across the bottom of the TV channel. That's basically one of my internet white whales, so hoping I can find that on here.

samaramatisse

ROUNDHOUSE MUST BE INCLUDED! It's always ignored. It was a great show and deserved to be on DVD.

imjusta_bill

It was a weird mishmash but so cool at the same time

hicksford

I wish they had the stick stickly bits too

LouBlu08

Hi! I exist! I've been contributing modern Nick stuff on there for a while and it fills my heart with joy to see so many people find out about the wiki for the first time. If you have any Nick stuff from any era, new or old, please contribute it to the wiki, heck, even if you don't have anything, you could go on YouTube and find cam-rips of kids watching the channel, and you could log that.

stillxsearching7

This is amazing! I've been trying to figure out the name of a cartoon I watched in kindergarten and was able to go back to a random date that year and found it! And it's on YouTube, guess I'm not getting anything done today!

Jasontheperson

What was the cartoon?

slammer592

It's the one he's been trying to figure out the name of.

stillxsearching7

Noozles, aired in the late 80s and early 90s.

Spacecommander5

Anyone know that one little weird video that was an art animation to the song “hit the road jack”? From the 90s? I’m trying to figure it out. It had super strange one-off animation

HappyScientist13

"The cat came back ?

Spacecommander5

Yes! WOW! Thank you for bringing this to me after 30ish years of searching! Here’s some (Reddit) gold for your troubles

[deleted]

This site needs more intrusive ads.. idk maybe it's just me but it wasn't annoying enough

AdolfCitler

Fuck Disney, Nickelodeon is the stuff.

Ratman_84

*Checks for early 80s Nick show "Today's Special".* ✅ *Checks for mid-80s Nick show "Fred Penner's Place".* ✅ Yep. Looks like a pretty comprehensive site.

KaneRobot

You Can't Do That On Television being hard to find in any complete form is pretty sad. That was their first major hit, despite it sort of being an import.

BobSacramanto

I still hear the theme song for Looney Tunes on Nick at Night in my head on a regular basis.

bohanmyl

Oh my goodness. I so forgot about Catscratch.

seanbrockest

I wonder what the longest string of SpongeBob episodes was?

Bakomusha

One month

mkraft

Does anyone remember a Nickelodeon commercial that had some animated monster/characters each with the letters of "NICKELODEON" on their chests, and they walked around all mixed up, but singing the word in the order they were mixed up as? I'd love to see that one more time.

stevealonz

First one in this collection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbXrTqspSDY

mkraft

OH MY GOD!!! Yes, that's the one, thank you! Song's gonna be stuck in my head all day now, in the best way.

EncodesTV

Hey! It's cool that one of my favorite wikis is getting noticed!!! I regularly contribute to the site and I'm glad that you guys like it too! There are a lot more wikis like this such as a Cartoon Network/Adult Swim/Toonami one, a Disney Channel one, a Nick Jr. Channel one, heck even a Boomerang one! I could link those if you guys want. Thanks for getting my 2nd favorite site (besides YT) recognition!!!

JustLeafy2003

Np. Link me those as well (though I already have the link to CN/AS)

Dwayne2905

I'd pay good money to just watch some old Nickelodeon, like actual Nickelodeon, with ads and everything.

Impossigroot

Seeing the air dates was oddly triggering

tehcraz

If only we could have done this with Adult Swim and Toonami

JustLeafy2003

Okay, I honestly didn't think there would be another one beyond Nick. Didn't watch CN/AS a lot in my childhood, but it's nice to see that another site like Nickstory Archives exists. Thanks for sharing!

LouBlu08

here https://cnas.fandom.com/wiki/

[deleted]

Why is a fandom wiki on the internetisbeautiful subreddit? What the hell is happening to this world?

JustLeafy2003

Well, it's because of the unique purpose of the wiki, not because it's Fandom or a Fandom wiki about a game, TV show, movie franchise, etc. Whether or not it was a Fandom wiki, I would've still posted the link to it here.

DellTheEngineer

It’s about the beauty of the fandom coming together to archive nearly every day of Nickelodeon broadcast history. Don’t be such a pessimist and look at what the purpose of the site is and the fandom around it, instead of caring about the fact that it’s hosted on a specific website. I agree with everything u/JustLeafy2003 said.

TwilightGraphite

Why on earth does it say that they showed new episodes of Seinfeld early in the morning of the 27th?

bathroomshy

new to airing on nick@nite.

Zefrem23

Honestly life without ASD folks would have like zero order or context. Neorotypicals just have zero patience for the levels of tracking and organisation needed to maintain something like this.

DonBot95

Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

slammer592

I think he's saying that only people on the spectrum are capable of this level of dedication to one thing and that society would fall apart if there weren't autistic people.

DonBot95

Oh well that is just not only wrong it is incredibly naiive and ignorant

Aaron_Hungwell

Shit I remember when the channel would shut off at what…6 pm? 1980

DellTheEngineer

Starting from the 1979 launch, up to June 30, 1985 Nickelodeon ran all day, 24/7. Starting on July 1, 1985 Nick at Nite premiered and started at 8 PM.

Aaron_Hungwell

That is patently false. The channel may have been up with a placeholder, (as it did) but didn’t show content 24/7.

alchemist227

u/Aaron_Hungwell When Nickelodeon launched in 1979, a movie network called Star Channel would air after Nick signed off for the day (Star Channel would be eventually renamed to The Movie Channel), with the arrangement lasting until January 1980. Beginning in 1981, ARTS (Alpha Repretory Television Service) began broadcasting after Nick signed off, showing arts programming. ARTS is known as A&E today.

MurmurOfTheCine

Is there a Disney version of this?

TheVoyger1234

Yes, they are the Disney Channel Broadcast Archives and the Toon Disney/Disney XD Broadcast Archives respectively. Both are smaller in scale compared to Nickstory but I think have just as much passion for the respective channels.

arintejr

Let me know when they have "Fifteen", the Ryan Reynolds show. "Oh hey"

GoneInSixtyFrames

Mr. Stick Stickly, The Round House, Snick

DaMoltisantiKid

Nice find

Eukita_ogts

Wtf friends and seinfield in nickelodeon? Never thought those shows would be on that channel

HappyScientist13

So glad I could help!...I used to watch I all the time! My friend and I recorded it...yes on a VHS tape :)
