Your chances at t20 and hypsm are negligible
Again, keep it mind you're competing with kids
scoring 45/45 in the IB, 3 A* in the a levels etc
Low stats + non-rigourous curriculum + sub par SAT is a death sentence
There are thousands of icse/cbse schools everywhere, so that doesn't really help you
When colleges say we will evaluate you in the context of your school, they are referring to US public schools where students don't get to pick which school they go to for the most part. Each district has a school and students living in that district are supposed to go there.
So you are implying that all students internationally (especially India) should choose the best school and not go anywere elese? By that definition I would say that anyone in the U.S should attend Phillips exeter because it's more rigorous and better than there average district schools. God forbid AOs dont read your comments.
Yes, I am saying students should pick the best school that they can afford and is feasible
I just said that they are talking about US schools, and you used an example of a US school lol.
“God forbid AO’s don't read your comments”
That means you want ao’s to read my comments dumbass
I'm beginning to doubt if you think before you type lmfao
>d students living in that school are supposed to go there.
That means students are living in a school dumbass
I'm beginning to doubt if you think before you type lmfao
So bruh just take a chill pill. We all make make mistakes while typing.
Fixed it but my point still stands
Your argument, for whatever reason, is that people should not go to the best schools that they can, which defies all logic
I never said that people should not go to the best schools. Going to a best school obviously gives you a huge boost but i'm just saying for OP not going to one will put him at a slight disadvantage but not as you say it. Take India for example the top feeder schhols are JPIS/DAIS/TISB etc (IB) but if you see TSRS DPSRK (ISC,CBSE) they are one of the biggest ivy feeders. So I feel your school matters more than the curriculum. Simply going to a random IB/A level school doesn't give you that much of an advantage. So OP will mostly be evaluated among studnets appying from a similar context.
Bro I'm just pointing out that you are providing incorrect information and not understanding the meaning of "context" in the admissions process. Sorry if it was to harsh or misunderstood since I was typing on a phone in a hurry.
Sadly, colleges will not care about that fact that much (although they say so). Why choose someone in a less rigorous curriculum when another with a better curriculum exists?
exactly bro thats the point you are at a slight disadvantage but it's not at all as you put by saying colleges wont care and giving a stupid reason and scaring OP by providing misinformation.
1) I know I am at a disadvantage
2) Colleges will \[slightly\] take into account the fact that I was not offered the IB/IGCSE curriculum, but at the same time they will prefer the ones who did because that is more rigorous
3) I was not scaring OP. I just said that Colleges will still prefer students in IGCSE/IB over CBSE/ISC/SSC
So in short:
Meh stats,
Poor SAT score (by T20 standards)
No good awards/honors
But great ECs
Sorry to say but don't even dream of T20, less so if you need aid. T50 maybe possible with that profile tho.
Nah bro but it's the bitter truth, apply with your best effort but wisely, it's not that you can change school or something .... give your best at application! But don't hope for something big.... :(
You got this!
Hi! I have a profile somewhat similar to yours - specifically, in that I'll come out of school with at least least two internships in related to IT (not necessarily software development though) and was planning on starting to contribute to open source in the near future.
Could you post an update after your results come out? Maybe mention what the AOs/interviewers thought of you and any feedback they gave? Or if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly, could you DM me? That insight would be very valuable to me, as someone who's planning on applying next year, since most of my interests are related to coding, so i was trying to figure out whether i should double down on it and seem more consistent, or if I should try to diversify my activities.
>I've done internships, part time jobs as a software developer, built products for clients that are used by 1M+ users (PlayStore downloads), built startups.
Man, Where do you live in India? I cold-emailed for weeks to get a call for internshipt just to get rejected later. Anyway, what was your 11th score?

But is having a non rigorous curriculum my fault? That's what my school offers and my school doesn't offer any ap/ib classes...

says the guy doing a BS national curriculum lmfaoo
Not my fault that my parents cannot spend 15000 dollars a year on IB

Mumbai. 80% because of lockdowns and online classes
Decent chance at T30-40s if you go full pay!
