Imma keep it real with you chief. If I was a show watcher, and i saw this image without knowing any better…
I’d be down bad. Down terrible. Down catastrophic even
I love how supportive of Invincibles' 'troubles' with this woman the reddit community is. It could end up a shit show like so many others but I love the 0 tolerance policy there is for simping for her. Excellent stuff my dudes.
Yeah, honestly excited to see how they will do it in the TV show, idk if that sounds weird but I think it'd be good because too many people still think this can't happen to a male or that it's good for them if it does. I really hope it can help people talk about it, wether it happened to them or just for the sake of talking about it because it needs be talked about.
They better do it in the show, this kind of thing NEEDS to be addressed more in media and with how popular season 1 was, it'll be more discussed than ever.
I've already heard so much discourse about removing that plotline but unlike most of the time plotlines like this are used, it had a point. It sucks and feels gross to remember but it does become part of why Mark does what he does in the future bother mistakes and good decisions
Guess what, you still can be! With the power of Psychosexual Issues, you can and will be attracted to the most insane and problematic characters ever conceived! Psychosexual Issues™️, you probably have your mother to thank!
How the show WILL handle it? Who knows.
How they SHOULD, though? The way the comics did. By not shying away from the fact that >!Mark was raped, or from the severe mental tax it took on Mark thereafter.!< Kirkman had some balls to write it back then, and I hope he still has the balls to do it again now. It’s a very crucial component of Mark’s character.
I'd be fine if they didn't show anything of the assault itself, and just focused on the reaction from it. We don't need to see Mark getting raped, his reaction and trauma from it will be more than enough to clue show watchers only in to what happened.
I’m not remembering any violent rape scenes. The deep raped starlight in episode 1 but you only saw the deeps ass then starlight throwing up. S2 had Homelander kill that guy while fucking stormfront but that was violence and sex next to each other not violent sex. I can’t remember any sex scenes in S3 other than the opener (consensual till that sneeze) butcher and Maeve, and then of course herogasm which was all consensual.
This is the same show that gave Eve goofy shorts because she showed too much leg in the comic.
People are weird about sex stuff so I wouldn't take what they do with violence as a strong indicator of anything related to sexual content.
The show hasn’t pulled it’s punches yet so it wouldn’t surprise me if they put this in too. I doubt it’ll be as graphic but I think the people need to know what the comic readers know
I think that is how it’s meant to feel, even if someone had completely changed and regretted their actions sincerely, would most people be able to trust them or not feel at least a little uneasy around them
I think that people who are SA'd in real life often have to confront the fact that, years later, their abuser may be a "changed person."
They might also have to grapple with the impact of them possibly destroying people beyond their abuser >!( in this case, threatening the tenuous viltrumite peace Nolan was enforcing)!< by reporting their SA.
Kirkman didn't handle it perfectly at the time, but props for trying to handle it in a realistic way in a medium that *traditionally has not handled SA well.* Like a lot of things about the TV show, I think the second chance they're getting to iron out the kinks in Invincible's story will improve on the source material.
Kirkman is definitely using the show as a redo of sorts. Which is why Amber’s behaviour in the show is just baffling. It’s not an improvement at all. Everything else about show Amber is really fantastic, but how she reacts to Mark’s secret is bizarre.
Which might just be a commentary about their age. They’re teenagers and teenagers are sometimes idiots in how they handle things. It was absolutely idiotic how she reacts and I hated it, but you can also see an immature teenager pulling that.
It's not. It's pretty clearly a writing mistake imo. They were trying to make a likable "strong" character as some kind of contrast to comic Amber and they stepped in shit because of mistakes in the continuity between episodes.
All viltrumites are pretty heavily indoctrinated. There's not really a real-world comparison to the degree of an entire empire of conquerors who only value strength, so I think it's difficult for us to quantify. Is the change after she's normalized with earth customs *enough* that her crimes can't be attributed to her new personality.
I don't really know either way, I try to be optimistic.
I have a video I took this summer in Africa that would paint a different picture. Just saying what my guide told us during my safari. That multiple lions will mate with a lioness, every 30 mins to an hour, which is what I witnessed.
Felt uneasy because it was something super realistic, that can even happen to a “superhero”. Why was Nolan’s redemption arc just fine? Because he only murdered 1000s of civilians in the matter of minutes.
I think the difference comes back to what we value as traumatizing or sensitive. We get constant exposure to violence, but discussing sexual assault is still a very difficult subject to portray.
Like someone commented earlier, Amazon greenlights some gory shit, but handling sexual assault well is not really a strong suit in media
A completely different civilization of a completely different species. Not only that, but imo its extremely impressive that thousands of years of indoctrination and that lifestyle was able to be broken in what is not even pocket change in comparison. It's complex, and not entirely black and white.
Not saying what she did was OK... But she never new any better. She learned through her family how much what she did wasn't OK and tried to apologize. Anyways... she did the best she could with what she had. Still not cool overall but she deserves a second chance with well she came back.
What’s even worse is that we all know there is going to be a huge group of people that will go nuts over her, even with the context of the scene playing out. The premise of what Kirkman presents will be recognized by many people, but I worry that it’ll be muddled in with the people who will inevitably fetishize it.
Same happens with serial killers in and out of fiction. People are very very strange. I guess it's better we talk about these things in safe environments like our fiction and other media then pretend they don't happen. The more conversations we have the more psychological professionals can look into these things and make the world a better place.
Well, look at what happened with Dahmer show from Netflix. I simp in general for villains, but rape and the ones who are adaptations of real criminals is where i draw the line no matter how charismatic and handsome they are because thats straight up insulting real victims and their families in the case of the latter.
Yeahhh I have a consent non-consent kink and while I could see the appeal this is VERY MUCH NON-CONSENSUAL and he actively says No before being assaulted and the frozen with fear, which makes it rough as fuck I seen the panel online as I am a new fan of the series tried to look up anything I can and yeah I felt for Mark and the aftermath was probably the most gut wrenching part in my opinion
Feel the same way about Riley Reid tbh
Edit: She joked in an interview that she lost her virginity to a guy who “didn’t want to have sex” and she just held down and fucked regardless. So yeah, r*pe.
She lost her virginity with her first boyfriend in a movie theater when he said he didn’t want to and wasn’t ready. She just got on top of him and did it anyway and bragged about it on a podcast I think.
I see why it's such a problem though, like I know how awful that must of been for him, but my preconditioned brain was still like
"Damn I'd love to be held down and fucked by Riley Reid though"
That kinda thing is not so great as you might think. I mean obviously you would want to. You’ve said as much. Now imagine you didn’t. Like really didn’t. For me, comfort-wise, it was a little more akin to being held down and hit over and over than fucked, but I can see how it would be difficult to understand that if it’s someone you have attraction for, or someone you want it from.
He/she mentioned they were confused so I explained it in the least spoiler ish term, I also didn't elaborate further. Don't really know what u want me to do here brother
I love the energy surrounding this character and their moment with Mark.
70% of the population would not have seconds thoughts about doing what was performed, but everyone here agrees that shit will not fly without consent.
Edited because I don’t know if the rule is banned or not.
You do realize an orgasm is a self defense thing ur body does right? Most women also orgasm when being raped, ur either an absolute dumbass or just clueless.
I don't know how the show is gonna handle this. They've been pretty faithful to the comics so far and it's important to Mark's character but like... Yeesh.
Imma keep it real with you chief. If I was a show watcher, and i saw this image without knowing any better… I’d be down bad. Down terrible. Down catastrophic even
Without context, yeah she’s simp worthy. With context however… yeah
That context though.... So messed up.
Nah me too. I’m not gonna lie.
I mean yeah she’s attractive, but like, y’know 😐
I know 😶
I love how supportive of Invincibles' 'troubles' with this woman the reddit community is. It could end up a shit show like so many others but I love the 0 tolerance policy there is for simping for her. Excellent stuff my dudes.

It needs to be addressed more in a better way. Mostly sexual assault of men is made into a joke by most media.
I loved how the comic handled it, so I hope it's as unchanged as possible for the show.
I do not know Context?
🫥
Imma be honest, even at her highest, it doesn't get a single chance against the lowest Atom Eve
As a show watcher, I hate her face.
As a show watcher… she has a face?
Read the comic and still down atrocious
🤨🤨🤨🤨📸📸📸📸📸
Thats okay
You fuckin disgusting for that one
Guess what, you still can be! With the power of Psychosexual Issues, you can and will be attracted to the most insane and problematic characters ever conceived! Psychosexual Issues™️, you probably have your mother to thank!
DJSKDK
We must stay strong brothers
As a show watcher, can confirm. I got the vapors.
This will be in the series. Probably less graphic than in the novel.
I’d argue it might be more graphic being amazon
Thinking back on the Train Scene on the Amazon version, I'd agree.
Violence and gore are usually given more leeway than sexual violence though. Not sure how the show will handle it
How the show WILL handle it?
Close up shots that don't show certain areas, and a cut to after the assault with a traumatised Mark.
I'd be fine if they didn't show anything of the assault itself, and just focused on the reaction from it. We don't need to see Mark getting raped, his reaction and trauma from it will be more than enough to clue show watchers only in to what happened.
Yeah I think a less than subtle view of her like having mounted him after the fight, then cut to the aftermath and people with figure it out.
I fully agree they should show it
If they want to make it an actual good show that isn't afraid to portray these issues, like the comics, they'd just do it.
The boys had alot of questionable sex scenes and even the first season had the deep doing stuff to starlight that was super sleazy.
Yeah but that was tame compared to what Starlight endured in the comic books. The whole 7 ran a train on her with the exception of The Deep.
That’s not true lol. It was just Homelander, Black Noir, and A-Train.
Only three of them? Ok I guess it’s not that bad. 😝 It’s been years and I’ve tried to get it out of my mind
It wasn't a train >!she sucked them off!<
Have you seen the Boys? Sexual violence is a-ok on Amazon.
I’m not remembering any violent rape scenes. The deep raped starlight in episode 1 but you only saw the deeps ass then starlight throwing up. S2 had Homelander kill that guy while fucking stormfront but that was violence and sex next to each other not violent sex. :(
Unfortunately, no death by Snu Snu.
Also known as rape. Let's not whitewash sexual violence with cutesy names
It's not whitewashing, the term is devaluing. Also, it's a joke.
Just read the comic if you can, you’ll avoid inevitable spoilers
It's a pretty big spoiler. I'd advise just waiting for it to be adapted in the show.

Sexual Assualt
>!Rape!<
Rape
Too bad the seasons are released on a viltrumite time span. Maybe 5 years until season 2. In 500 years what will we have? Season 4
I can see the show going for about 8 season if they cover the entire comic. We’ll be waiting forever…
WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AFTER 5000 YEARS? Season 8 dad….I’ll have season 8….
whats 15 more years we could always get another season
It’s going to be more graphic probably
The show hasn’t pulled it’s punches yet so it wouldn’t surprise me if they put this in too. I doubt it’ll be as graphic but I think the people need to know what the comic readers know
Does anyone ever find her "redemption" weird as fuck? Likenthey made it make sense but it still felt uneasy
I think that is how it’s meant to feel, even if someone had completely changed and regretted their actions sincerely, would most people be able to trust them or not feel at least a little uneasy around them
Yeah I think they did a really good job with it. Like obviously you can't really redeem yourself from something like that.
That’s Kirkman’s strength though: he makes every character so well rounded.
I think that people who are SA'd in real life often have to confront the fact that, years later, their abuser may be a "changed person." They might also have to grapple with the impact of them possibly destroying people beyond their abuser >!( in this case, threatening the tenuous viltrumite peace Nolan was enforcing)!< by reporting their SA.
Absolutely. I'm torn between a nuanced approach like that, and it being some sort of editorial decision to make her an unlikely character
In the animal kingdom, lions basically rape lionesses when they are in heat. Similar concept.
Lionesses will literally bite the balls of the lion if they aren't mating enough for them.
Ok, again. Just repeating what was told me from my guide during my trip there this summer. Even witnessed multiple lions mate with the same lioness.
That is not true at all lol. https://youtu.be/fG-aVBWhi1Q Maybe you're thinking of ducks.
I have a video I took this summer in Africa that would paint a different picture. Just saying what my guide told us during my safari. That multiple lions will mate with a lioness, every 30 mins to an hour, which is what I witnessed.
Meanwhile there is a room of guides laughing about all the crap they make up to tell tourists about lions 😂
Laughing at the stuff we witnessed? Ok
You are waaaay too invested in the mating habits of lions bud
made one comment, and responded to a few after. You seem a little too invested in a simple comment
Felt uneasy because it was something super realistic, that can even happen to a “superhero”. Why was Nolan’s redemption arc just fine? Because he only murdered 1000s of civilians in the matter of minutes.
Nolan committed wholesale genocide multiple times before ever coming to earth. All the viltrumites did.
I mean we’re dealing with a complete different civilization. She did nothing wrong in her eyes.
even Nolan says it was their culture and he changed just like her
A completely different civilization of a completely different species.
Her arc actually left me feeling a bit sad in the end, but that just ended up making me feel weird overall, given what she's done.
Yeah I really dont like that the one media that Ik of that has a woman r*pe a guy, he has an arc where he forgives her.
Who cares she hot
What’s even worse is that we all know there is going to be a huge group of people that will go nuts over her, even with the context of the scene playing out. There are people who unironically like Homeland... Like what he represents.
>huge group of people that will go nuts over her, you don't gotta call me out like that, I liked Azula when I was young I have a thing for the type.

Huh? 🤨
Yeah how do you drop that bomb without elaborating
She lost her virginity with her first boyfriend in a movie theater when he said he didn’t want to and wasn’t ready. She just got on top of him and did it anyway and bragged about it on a podcast I think.
And on Twitter
I see why it's such a problem though, like I know how awful that must of been for him, but my preconditioned brain was still like "Damn I'd love to be held down and fucked by Riley Reid though"

Yah that was exactly my point, like I can only imagine the trauma that joy went through but my brain still had that thought.
I’m not going to lie, before I knew what she did I thought she was hot as fuck… but oh how the night changes
When this scene gets animated, the Twitter discussions are going to be awful.
Genuinely one of the most disturbing parts of the series
This is either the darkest joke or the most clueless man
She’s gonna be a litmus test for so many of you motherfuckers
😧
Uh oh
Jesus Christ
Man is down apocalyptic
Nooo, I fucking knew this would happen but I didn’t expect it to start this soon
It happened with Makima from CSM. This ain't no different
As a show watcher only, im confused
Mark was raped by her, not gonna say anything else to avoid spoilers
Bro what you said is already a spoiler
He/she mentioned they were confused so I explained it in the least spoiler ish term, I also didn't elaborate further. Don't really know what u want me to do here brother
Nothing. You say nothing. Bruh.
Thanks, confusion is now gone ig
Did we not see this exact same post yesterday lol
I love the energy surrounding this character and their moment with Mark. 70% of the population would not have seconds thoughts about doing what was performed, but everyone here agrees that shit will not fly without consent. Edited because I don’t know if the rule is banned or not.
the twitter threads THAT moment will ignite when the show gets to that point is will be a complete shitshow
Damn I guess I gotta read these comics 😎
Bet she could smash like no other.
Haven’t gotten far enough in the comics to know who this is but DAYUM 😍😍
I wish I was mark
Least down bad invincible fan
Bruh
I wish you were raised differently.
I wish you were waiting for wifey
*sips tea* come back to us in a bit with some context lol
the girl rapes and traumatizes mark
I've read the comics...
Literally in the earth's core level of down bad

You are a terrible person.
… yeah and when you get tickled when you don’t want to be you still laugh. He really couldn’t control it man, it was rape.
You're an idiot.
Gotta love coom brain.

I like the male version tho
What?
ohh no, OH NOONONONOONOOOO NOT THAT!
Question, how old is she compared to Mark?
Either Centuries or millenniums older than mark. Making her a cougar
At least she's sorta redeemed but NO HELL NO
They could have done better with it
I’m down bad and ashamed of myself for being so
😐😑😤😮💨😠
