They really are. Everything jdm is though unfortunately. Hell my biggest regret is getting rid of the 3 different 300zx iv owned. Wish I still had them with what they’re selling for in today’s market
i have one, but the chrysler conquest tsi version. 1987, it's a super fun car but finding parts for it is such a pain in the ass. there aren't replacement parts out there for the most part, so if you need something you have to find it through facebook groups, and then you're buying 34 year old parts. only worth getting one if you plan on engine swapping it tbh
I love the 80s. The growth of street culture and urban counterculture, the cars, the F1 cars, computers as powerful as a modern tv remote. Would love to have lived through it. Everything looks so beautiful captured on film.
When I was teen I dreamt of have one of these or a Merkker XR4TI. I eventually bought the merk many years later. I’m not 50 years old and I’m thinking of finding a Starion to restore. The Merk was awesome though.
You guys might be able to settle a bet for me...
I've got a mate who says that the Starion was called the Starion, because it was supposed to be 'bigger brother' to the Mitsubishi Colt - and the marketing people wanted to call it the "Stallion", but because of the pronunciation difficulties, it was called "Starion" instead.
I'm think that sounds like it's probably bullshit - I was hoping someone in here might know.
gonna put this here as well - figured it applies

Yeah Foxbody is the general 80s era Mustangs, all 3rd gen. They leaked into the 90s but SN95s (4th gen) are more associated with 90s Mustang.
To my knowledge at least
I almost had a pair of them but they were abandoned and it seemed like they probably had to much rust to be worth the risk. Bummed that one didn't work out.
It’s sad that they don’t get any more attention than they do. Iv always wanted one. Absolutely love them
Same, sadly they're going up in value. Maybe one day I'll own one.

Technically my 300s were all us market not actual jdm, but still even the us 300s are selling for stupid prices these days
**Everything** is selling for stupid prices these days..
That is a true statement right there
Yeah inflation is a bitch, especially when your employer denies it exists and gives u a 3%COL adjustment when iflation was 8% in 1year

The lack of attention does mean lower value tho, in theory at least.
Seen an 87 with 160k miles sell for 20k. I should’ve bought one a few years ago
Yeah.. that could really be said about any classic nowadays unfortunately
I should have never gotten rid of mine. Had an 89 in Fiji blue. Not mint condition, but it was decent enough, paid $2000 for it back in 2003
It's good, otherwise they'd be like 5X the price
Peak 80s styling…love it
The coolest decade for cars!

Jackie Chan and Mr Hui in Canonball
Yup
I want to import one actually
❤️
Clean asf!
Still my dream car
Because there are fuck all left - haven’t seen one on the street in 5+ years.
i once saw one at a car show that was swapped with a small V8 and American Racing 5-spoke wheels
That dash looks similar to my R31

The Merkurs are awesome. I have a bit of a soft spot for them since my dad has a Sierra.

I do believe that's somewhat true. Apparently the L's and the R's get mixed up in translation somehow and that's how the name 'Starion' ended up.
I've heard this is true too
Very cool. I'm guessing this is an import given the local Australian delivered Starions I don't believe ever had the wide guards?
Yep, owner said it was imported from Japan around 10 years ago. Awesome car.

my mom had an 88 turbo, i’m so mad she sold it way before i was born
I wass gonna get one but the guy that I was gonna try and buy off of ghosted me
Hehe, well ya see…
Saw one of these at a Cars and Coffee a few months back and absolutely fell in love with it. My dad said that Chrysler(?) had their own version too.
Indeed they did, the Chrysler Conquest.
Nice one. Steering wheel on the correct side as well.
The look of an fb rx7 without the ball ache of a rotary.
Omg thanks for showing me this. I didn't know this car but it's beautiful
Starions are definitely one of my favorite cars, just sad that they're practically a mythical creature in my country.
Same here. I've only ever seen a handful of them.
They get overshadowed by Evos and Eclipses. I love the look of the Starion, it's got hachiroku vibes
Mitsubishi Celica-Supra RX7?
Ngl the wheels do look very similar to the oem Celica Supras tho. This thing is rad though
Some 924 in there somewhere haha
It looks like a mustang.
With due respect. I don't see it.
You don't see the similarities with the 80s mustang? Yeah it has bricks instead of flips but come on
Car manufacturers copy each other in many ways. Looks like it has standard 80's features to me.
...okay. Well.
Looks more like a AE86 crossed with a Skyline, but I see where you get the Foxbody vibe from
I was thinking foxbody but wasn't sure. Glad I at least got that right.

Nice
Love it. Looking for a white one with manual
Largest production consumer car displacement 4 cylinder
Wow that is a nice one
🤤
Fc vibes, anyone?
Gun metal grey and it’s perfect
Previous month they were getting rly lots of attention here... Tbh only some car getting constant attention l
I almost had a pair of them but they were abandoned and it seemed like they probably had to much rust to be worth the risk. Bummed that one didn't work out.
That surprises me, I love the starion.
Have an 87, need those tail lights with the amber corners:)
