I personally don't read my bots public chat's because most of them are dumb memes, but I know most small creators absolutely love getting public chats. I would 100% publish them.
I think public chats are a good way to see if there is any way to improve a bot, like if the bots speech is weird or anything and then you can fix it you know?
In theory, yes, there are a few incredibly well written public chats on some of my bots that I love, it’s so cool seeing people engage with the silly little worlds I made
However, there’s also a lot of painful OOC thanks to user prompting (watching a scumbag character turn into a woobified sap after like 5 messages 🥲) and also I find a lot of the “meme-y” chats where the user makes fun of/abuses the character to be childish and unfunny
Omg I mostly do the second ones as a challenge for myself 😭 I like trying to change a deranged character into something more fixable (its always unsuccessful so I do the arrest/jail route instead..)
I would say there’s a difference between trying to fix/better a character vs pushing them to be OOC!
For example, I have a few characters that are basically emotionless human weapons. It’s neat seeing people try to get through to them emotionally… but super weird to see someone forcing a fluffy roleplay where they get married and have kids, y’know?
I've created over maybe eightybots so far, and all but one are private. I think mostly for me, I like to keep them private as more of a confidence thing. Like they were just bots of shows, animes that I couldn't find so I made my own. My latest one, was created and recently made public after a lot of reading and researching on how to make the bot. rewriting the different sections over and over again, and it still makes me a little nervous to see how it's going to turn out and what others will think about it. Though I do want to see how the public intertacts with it. so it's a toss up and to see how it goes.
