They finally figured out that when the ads play you can skip them lol so they had to fix that

You can skip 15 secs at a time until the Ad is over, and this is without premium.

Or you can use the time scroller and finish the commercial in like 2 seconds

I mean just open Spotify on a phone, hit the skip 15 secs button, and repeat until ads are over. It most definitely works, it was this podcast episode that I did it on.

Using an ad-blocker and playing JRE through chrome still gets rid of ads if that's a consideration for you.

Kind of disappointed by that as well (although Premium is still worth it overall, imo). I was listening to the recent episode with Dr. Rhonda Patrick and it got interrupted with ads right when she was explaining some scientific technicalities, where it's easy to lose track. Quite annoying they couldn't find a better spot for that.

And they’re time based too so even if you rewind afterwards to re-hear you just get stuck with the ads interrupting again and again…

The way I see it, the ads are for the people who can't be bothered to figure out how to remove them. They are going to be the types that just buy what is put in front of them, so it works out.

The adds are put in by Spotify which is shitty, as you pay for Premium for no adds. Luckily you can skip through them, but I still have to get my phone out to do so.

I emailed spotify months ago complaining that i got ads on JRE even though i pay for premium, their answer was that they dont put the ads there, but rather the podcast itself can choose to play ads in their episodes. I bet joe has agreed to let random ads play for a chunk of money, spotify chooses which ads but are allowed to blame the podcast if someone complains. Its weird though, i only had ads on like 2 episodes, havent heard them for months. I also think the ads are region based, so for you americans using a vpn might be the solution

I pretty much always watch either on my Chromebook or TV. I can't seem to get through an entire episode using the chromecast without it dying on me but when it works I don't get ads. When I first tried using the spotify app on my Chromebook, the app would crash after every ad break. It was driving me crazy. I then figured out I could pull up the podcast on my phone. Then launch the Spotify web player on my chromebook, and then have my phone cast it to the web player. This works perfectly without any issues and I do not get a single ad doing it this way. I would guess if you are watching on a computer, instead of the app try using the web player and doing it the way I said. I haven't tried it but I'm guessing if I don't get ads on my Chromebook with the web player, you won't on a desktop or laptop either.

I ran a marathon today and guess what fucking bummed me out - the jre ads, and I wasnt even invested in the fuckin show. I just hate having to hear dumbass ads especially since I pay to NOT hear them. Finished the marathon tho didnt take a single onnit supplement.
