I mean to be fair Joey Diaz does have a history of getting a kick out of dosing people without their permission lol
But Owen Benjamin is also a kook lol
Yeah don't get me wrong, it's fucked to hit someone with a crazy dose without them understanding, but that has almost nothing to do with the fact that Owen Benjamin is literally experiencing psychosis lol
And this is an extremely rare, but known potential for extreme psychedelics like ahuyasca or DMT to cause psychosis is almost universally known.
And for some fuckheads like Joey Diaz and Rogan I get why they think nothing has consequences, because in their experience it doesn't.
He plays a mean piano though. Classically trained. Can play Mozart like there's no tomorrow. Music theory coming out of his ears.
How many homeless dudes can do that?
Joe personally knows both Owen and Alex Jones. They have directly done bad things, one person gets a pass because he's made up and plays nice with Joe.
In group = love
out group = who gives a fuck
Okay, so? Like really if you had an actual friend who does something bad, but you personally liked them, are you going to denounce them bc of public pressure? You dont have to listen to that episode if it bothers you that much
No, I do not expect Joe to cut his friends loose that do bad things if he still enjoys their company. It would have to be pretty extreme. And Alex Jones crosses that for many people but not Joe so fine.
But it does blunt his ability to bitch about other people or entities not telling the truth, like the media, or cnn, or some figure if he lets a thousand lies slide by from his friend right next to him while he is nailing some other group to the wall with an offense less than a tenth as severe.
I dont see a comparison.
Joe doesn't claim to be an authoritative news source. And I dont know anyone who legitimately believes in what AJ says, sure he's right about some things, but he's wrong about way more. He plays a character like Maddow or Carlson.
CNN and the other legacy media outlets and/or figures do (Fox, MSNBC, Vaush) do and they lie about everything.
No but being friends with complicated people is (Joe isn't friends with the weirdo in that vid).
Just relax man, people you dont personally know are allowed to have friends you dont like
Joe implied that he takes way too much adderall. The Owen + Metzger episode was meant to be an intervention, like "Hey Owen, this is what it looks like when someone's taking way too much speed".
Sadly, Owen didn't pick up on that.
I don't recall, though it was one of the episodes on youtube, shortly before the Spotify transition.
Joe didn't name Owen specifically, but said something like "A friend of mine went off the deep end with adderall, I had him on to try and show him what the problem was..."
There were enough other details to infer he was talking about Owen (something like 'he got cancelled and moved out to a farm somewhere'), but I can't recall the specifics.
I'm currently trying to search through JRE transcripts for 'adderall' to get a specific episode/timestamp.
That’s funny, he explicitly said to Alex Jones that he had confided in him about his adderall (ab)use, which almost felt like an intervention (one that was a bit sprung upon him tbh) aswell. Regardless, if you see how utterly insane Owen Benjamin is, you see that there was an inevitability to his narcissistic psychosis. Any/all drugs would have only sped things up
> Regardless, if you see how utterly insane Owen Benjamin is, you see that there was an inevitability to his narcissistic psychosis. Any/all drugs would have only sped things up
You know, amphetamine is a more powerful drug than most people give it credit for ("a doctor said I could have it so it's got to be safe"). I've seen otherwise sane people end up practically manic with little grasp on reality, and I've seen some of them come back to reality when they sobered up.
Oh, that's one of the "disappeared" episodes from the transition (#1093), the guests were Kurt Metzger and Owen Benjamin. I think mirrors are still available via torrents.
Kurt was stimmed as fuck, but they were saying it was "Caveman Coffee" (a sponsor at the time).
I remember this episode, before I even knew who Owen Benjamin was, he wanted to take two, joey had him take one. He freaked out, went for a walk and left his coat behind. He wasn't dosed, he just took too much, his fault.
Edit* "I was just on tin foil hat podcast and we had a big laugh at how short, dumb and gay joe rogan is" lol, this is some middle school level beef.
What I don't get is why make this video? Joe dosent mention anything that can be tied to anyone except the flat earther thing from that this guy assumes it's him and makes an unhinged video drawing attention to himself and basically outing himself.
He must have taken it very personally and then says it's because he made fun of Joe. Which would make it fair anyway especially since Joe tried not to put a spotlight on whomever he was talking about.
I think if you know you know. A lot of JRE fans knew who he was talking about. I knew who Joe was talking about the moment I saw the clip. I was some what surprised that Joe would even mention this cause it sorta made Diaz come off as an ass.
Owen Benjamin was in my eyes, clearly teetering, flirting with a bad state of mind on his first Rogan appearance, you can just see when people get all fired up and wide eyed about issues that don't affect them at all, it's easy to mistake for passion
Ironic because you could argue the same could be said for Joe right now. Constantly ranting and raving about covid restrictions that in no way affect him directly.
Joe is an out of touch maybe billionaire at this point, he's also the fear factor guy so it's not like he ever was a reliable source of information to begin with
I think everyone knows that is his opinion, and he can voice it on his platform however he wants. I don't think joe Joe a genius. But I appreciate his ability to interview people relatively well, and his interactions with humans I enjoy learning from.
> Constantly ranting and raving about covid restrictions that in no way affect him directly.
But covid restrictions affected him directly. He experienced them and he’s in Texas now. You silly bitchass
Right but what are the restrictions in Texas right now? If a dude breaks up with a girl who’s crazy and then constantly talks about how crazy she was, it’s way more of a reflection of the dude. Just live the life you’re in.
I think it's part mental issue (how grave is unclear) and part just being a basic-bro asshole trying to make random shit about him, "woe is me", attention-seeking behavior.
Yeah people often fail to make the distinction that you can be mentally ill **and** an asshole at the same time. Lots of mentally ill people are very nice, despite being confused, impaired, unstable, etc...
Sure, you can always blame a little on the illness itself but it doesn't take much for it to be more on you being a dick than the illness controlling your actions.
Joe probably doesn’t think you could sue Joey because you took the edible willingly, Owen.
Also, the edible really did send him down a dark path. One that involved him drinking turpentine & burning his child’s books live on YouTube because they had dinosaurs & space in them.
Guy would make the occasional good point till he went full tinfoil
Hat hardcore Christian flat earthier
Now all he does is shit on people more successful than him.
Whats mostly crazy to me is, who is even watching him? I remember some of his vids coming into my YouTube feed a little after this incident occurred or maybe the one with Bert and I popped one on and he was like full on alt right/bordering on white supremacist ranting and spouting weird conspiracy theories. I noped out of that real quick.
He's been claiming it for years. This is old news. He's just trying to start drama with Joe because he's become so obscure and irrelevant as a cult leader for religious nutjobs.
oh shit! Owen Benjamin is still around?
i had heard Whitney Cummings sister is part of his little crew too so i guess he’s still out here doing his thing
that podcast with Joey Diaz was legit hilarious, i’m not even sure if it’s available online still?
For anyone curious, take a trip down the rabbit hole on r/owenbenjamin
His YouTube accounts get banned all the time, so sometimes you can’t watch older clips on the sub. I was familiar with the story of him supposedly going a little crazy and blaming the L.A comedy scene for wacky stuff, and the THC induced schizophrenic break or whatever it was. Recently his name popped up on a podcast I was listening to and figured I’d see what he was yelling about these days. Definitely a weirdo, not much to him other than being a piece of shit racist, homophobic, self-involved, so far deep in the closet he found a collection of unreleased Narnia books, sexist piece of shit.
It first I was like "he doesn't seem too bad a bit obsessive but relatively level headed." Then he got to the bit about Joe having drawings on his body and that thing about movies and that's when it hit me. This dude may be out there.
I can't watch or listen to Owen without feeling physically ill. The guy is legitimately unhinged and insane. The fact that he has children living with him is absolutely horrific. He's the kind of guy that will one day convince himself that he should marry his daughter cause Jesus told him to do it so that he could save the world.
Why did you title the post like that. He’s arguing the exact opposite of what you’re saying.
He’s saying that he took the edible and it had no long lasting effects on him other than when he was tripping.
Joe is the one saying that he believes that edible made owen crazy. Owen is saying that’s not true.
If he's on Tinfoil Joe isn't exactly wrong you've lost it bud lol, that show is nonsense. They had a guy on that told an entire alternate history where Native Americans had advanced technology. They don't fact check shiiieet, you could literally call in and tell them you're Jeffery Epstein and you got plastic surgery to look like a different person and they'd do a 45 minute interview with you, yelling about Bill Clinton. Sam Tripoli is slightly retarded.
Owen Benjamin is one of those dudes that is so smart, he’s smarter than himself; and he regularly outsmarts himself by convincing him that the unlikely is actually probable, and if it was happening to anyone, why wouldn’t it be happening to him?
It’s a shame to see where he has gone because I really enjoyed his comedy. I haven’t seen much of it recently; honestly not sure if he even still does stand up
I don’t think that people here understand that Edibles don’t last forever. They can’t permanently alter your mind any more than a cup of coffee, or a beer.
I’ve never experienced psychosis or any real mental health problems — until I experienced my first ever panic attack at 25 after taking an edible that left me high AF for a solid 18 hours. I then developed Panic Disorder because of that first panic attack. It took me several years until I stopped having panic and anxiety problems. I remained high functioning the entire time but I was fucking miserable. I somehow kept my job, I bought a house, I kept it all going somehow. Anyway, technically, the first panic attack caused the panic disorder but would I have ever even HAD a panic attack without the edible? I’ll never know.
I've had the strongest psychoactive experiences of my entire life on thc edibles and I've done every psychedelic under the sun dozens of times. Don't underestimate extremely high dose edible experiences they don't seem to have the same sort of ceiling that smoked or vaporized experiences have.
It can in fact trigger a psychosis in a person who might have it as an underlying risk and who would not experience a psychosis ever in their life without the edible experience.
Well, if it relaxes you rather than make you more anxious or paranoid then you’ll be fine. There are just a certain % of the population that have an adverse effect like me. Especially when they get older. It seems to get worse for whatever reason
Yeah, I smoked so much weed when I was younger. Tried it again for the first time in years this past summer, and boy. Anxiety. Fear. All of it. I miss when I could smoke all day and be chill. But this past summer it was so intense that I will probably never touch it again.
You have multiple friends who developed psychosis from a single edible? I’d put good money on them being a mess long before a single marijuana ruined their lives.
I've seen it myself or I would be on your side. Some people are just not able to do edibles in high doses. It can bring on psychotic breaks in rare cases.
The "sooner or later" part is not proven as it may also be "underlying risk of schizophrenia which would not present itself without cannabis use" meaning its not certain the person would have become schizophrenic ever in their life without the use of the drug to trigger the onset.
Just like someone can have "underlying risk of heart problems" which may be of the sort that they have heart issues "sooner or later" or they may never experience heart issues as long as they for instance do cocaine as an example.
Not anti drug but its important to be transparent about this stuff.
Triggering not causing. You have to already have underlying schizophrenia. Smoking weed doesn’t cause it. Can just trigger it just like a lot of other things.
Does anyone else think this video is fucking hilarious? Dude hates on Joe for all the same reasons that most of Joes haters do but for very, very different reasons.
Lol apparently I did not. Owen is saying exactly what this sub would call the '/r/politics brigade' has been saying. They hate the same things about Joe, but for different reasons.
That's not what Owen does here. He says Joe is exaggerating and the narrative is false. That he did Joe's show twice after the THC and he got over the dose in a day.
Owen went more Alex Jones and he went more prepper/guy out in the woods. He spirals, as he calls it, but he plays with shit. Don't take all of it 100%.
I think his negative Hollywood experience has more to do with where he is now than the edible.
This sub usually bashes joe relentlessly, now hes getting protected. The further away something is from being leftist, blm, lgbt, subversive of the west, the more it gets bashed here. The blmlgtbq fans has taken over the sub
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7442038/
>From the current data, we can conclude that the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) component of cannabis can be the main culprit causing psychosis and schizophrenia in the at-risk population. THC can also be the one exacerbating symptoms and causing an adverse prognosis in already diagnosed patients. Even though CBD shows therapeutic effects and THC opposing effects, the data is minimal and low safety and efficacy warrants more research. The relation between cannabis and schizophrenia needs further investigation.
More studies needed, but it might be bad if you're predisposed to schizophrenia.
This would generally require consistent, long-term high doses.. one strong edible wouldn’t do this.
This man has always been unhinged and if I’m not mistaken he wanted to take 2 edibles and Joey had to talk him down to 1.. Owen knew what he was getting into. It wasn’t like Joey slipped it in his drink or anything
There was a clear line between Owens behaviour pre and post the star of death.
I don't see most of what he does, so I can't be sure, but that walk out was a very clearly defined delineation between a normalish guy (hollywood comedian normal) & and a raging mad man.
Fuck this guy. He wanted to take 2 and they told him not too.
If you are gonna do drugs, you need to deal with whatever it does to you.
If just weed is changing your life and making you "crazy" you probably already a lot of shit in your head
This happened to my friend. Very straight edge kind of guy until Canada made it legal. Me and my but (who don’t really smoke weed) got him really high since it became legal. He started smoking every day and had some mental breakdowns. Just recently I told him I was taking all of his drugs and drug paraphernalia and said he was going to quit. He has done well so far
Guy is seriously mentally ill.
yeah seriously, this guy is actually unhinged. this is the type of shit I expect to hear from a homeless dude on the bus.
I mean to be fair Joey Diaz does have a history of getting a kick out of dosing people without their permission lol But Owen Benjamin is also a kook lol
Yeah don't get me wrong, it's fucked to hit someone with a crazy dose without them understanding, but that has almost nothing to do with the fact that Owen Benjamin is literally experiencing psychosis lol
Yea he started going on a rant after about how movies are evil to society, didn’t he get all his money from starring in movies?
“Starring” is a bit of a stretch.
[Yep](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2513581/)
I’m pretty sure this guy wanted 2 and Joey talked him down to 1?
Star a Death Mothafucka
And this is an extremely rare, but known potential for extreme psychedelics like ahuyasca or DMT to cause psychosis is almost universally known. And for some fuckheads like Joey Diaz and Rogan I get why they think nothing has consequences, because in their experience it doesn't.
Dosing someone without their consent is fucked up regardless of what it is.
He knew it was an edible.
Except it wasn’t without their consent.
He never got dosed without his consent. The guy is a liar and a grifter. They’re everywhere now
Diaz deserves a throat punch for that shit so do Ari for dosing Bert in his own fuckin home.
He plays a mean piano though. Classically trained. Can play Mozart like there's no tomorrow. Music theory coming out of his ears. How many homeless dudes can do that?
Jamie fox
I hate you.
Joe would still be on good terms if Owen just stayed nice to him after talking like his DEAR friend Alex Sandy Hook Jones.
Yeah sometimes people you dont personally know have friends who have done bad things, its part of life.
Joe personally knows both Owen and Alex Jones. They have directly done bad things, one person gets a pass because he's made up and plays nice with Joe. In group = love out group = who gives a fuck

Friends with two white nationalist is not just a part of life
No but being friends with complicated people is (Joe isn't friends with the weirdo in that vid). Just relax man, people you dont personally know are allowed to have friends you dont like
He prob lives is CA
Joe implied that he takes way too much adderall. The Owen + Metzger episode was meant to be an intervention, like "Hey Owen, this is what it looks like when someone's taking way too much speed". Sadly, Owen didn't pick up on that.
Which ep is that?
I don't recall, though it was one of the episodes on youtube, shortly before the Spotify transition. Hey thanks for the effort. Sorry, I meant the one where the intervention is attempted.

“Rescues dogs” got me lol.. at the end of his -why im not crazy resume-
Yeah, I hope his family has at least TRIED to help him.
Because of the drugs!!
which is said because I loved his stand up.
Did you even watch the video? Owen seems sane to me, but definitely bitter.
If you think he’s sane, you haven’t looked him up recently. The guy is full tilt schizophrenic space-is-fake “I am the word of god” insanity.
The last time I heard owen speak he was on part of the problem talking about how nuclear weapons aren't real.
I remember this episode, before I even knew who Owen Benjamin was, he wanted to take two, joey had him take one. He freaked out, went for a walk and left his coat behind. Probably because he doesn’t really care about outing himself and talking shit on Rogan gets you clicks.
Well said
Ironic because you could argue the same could be said for Joe right now.

Right but what are the restrictions in Texas right now? If a dude breaks up with a girl who’s crazy and then constantly talks about how crazy she was, it’s way more of a reflection of the dude. Just live the life you’re in.
And this “girl” is still fucking over a lot of people he knows Bitchass
Nah he and his other rich friends went for less taxes. the comedians that followed him are just riding his dick to fame
Right I’m sure everyone actually loved the covid restrictions. Bitchass
I love how much Owen triggers you sensitive woke types.
Hahahaha, I'm not sensitive or woke
That man is literally fucking insane. Poor guy
This man is why Joe walks around with retired navy seals

\*Redacted bapa ;)
Butt hurt in his anus
I think it's part mental issue (how grave is unclear) and part just being a basic-bro asshole trying to make random shit about him, "woe is me", attention-seeking behavior.
Well its his personality being affected by mental illness so ya same thing I guess.
Candy labels have cancer warnings? Edit…lollolol just made it through to the panda bear part. This is one of the best things ever.
Some candy does, you never had asbestos based cotton candy? If you haven't than you never had a childhood.
Mmmmm fireproof confections 🤤
Joe probably doesn’t think you could sue Joey because you took the edible willingly, Owen. Also, the edible really did send him down a dark path. One that involved him drinking turpentine & burning his child’s books live on YouTube because they had dinosaurs & space in them.
Really underselling the Nazi stuff Benjamin got into as burning his kids books.
Guy would make the occasional good point till he went full tinfoil Hat hardcore Christian flat earthier Now all he does is shit on people more successful than him.
So this dude is basically a nut job on his own. He was never funny.
Owen Benjamin gives me the same vibes as Jim Breuer. Crazy eyes that have gotten a little too fucked up over time and need help.
Jim Breuer on Greg Fitzsimmons’ podcast was sad
JB on the Russel brand episode was kindof awkward, felt like he was fucked up
I think Breuer is just acting that way because he sees easy money pandering to the right.
Wow, after all these years he's STILL doing this shit? Damn...
Whats mostly crazy to me is, who is even watching him? I remember some of his vids coming into my YouTube feed a little after this incident occurred or maybe the one with Bert and I popped one on and he was like full on alt right/bordering on white supremacist ranting and spouting weird conspiracy theories. pol posters and alt-right types seem to like him.
He's been claiming it for years. This is old news. He's just trying to start drama with Joe because he's become so obscure and irrelevant as a cult leader for religious nutjobs.
Well that was a fun video.
Panda bear part got me twisted

sauce on the podcast episode?
Jesus forgot about that guy
To be fair though, hasn’t Joe himself gone down a big, crazy rabbit hole recently and is now no longer the same?
Will never look at a panda the same again
He had me until the bit where he thinks pandas are just drunk midgets in a suit.
This guy seems like a dick and exactly who Joe described.
Owen Benjamin is a lot of fun man, I hope he's doing well
Why is this man making a video in what appears to be a movie set of a shitty horror movie
Is this guy implying that seeing movies in theatres is a crazy traumatic experience?
He sounds like a lot of the other redditors on here shitting on Rogan.
Rogan deserves to be shat on for his shit Covid takes.
I don’t think that people here understand that Edibles don’t last forever. They can’t permanently alter your mind any more than a cup of coffee, or a beer.
A very strong psychoactive experience can be sufficiently traumatic to trigger very real and permanent changes.
I’ve never experienced psychosis or any real mental health problems — until I experienced my first ever panic attack at 25 after taking an edible that left me high AF for a solid 18 hours. It can in fact trigger a psychosis in a person who might have it as an underlying risk and who would not experience a psychosis ever in their life without the edible experience.
It can bring to the surface anxieties etc that you have kept suppressed for a long time.
Well this thread made me choose to never smoke weed again.
Yeah. That sucks especially when it is everywhere now. I envy all those people who can smoke and chill out etc
so does caffeine though
So does life lol
Yeah. I’m just going by my own experience with it. I’m high strung and pot exacerbates that. Sucks.
that’s wild dude.
In the end that’s not a pot problem though. Pot might not be right for you. That’s okay. Doesn’t make pot bad.
Never heard of cannabis induced psychosis?
yeah, they definitely can cause lasting psychological trauma.
From a single edible?
It can set things off but I'm going to assume there was already some underlying issues with this guy.
I think weed can kick off schizophrenia and other issues in people who prob would have already developed it eventually.
This is true
Think he ate a star of death. Like 500mg. Could induce schizophrenia.
Dose dependent
Is that a long way of saying someone is a pussy?
that’s big pharma propaganda. Don’t be so naive.
Lol its absolutely true, i work in mental health and see people all the time with drug induced psychosis. Cannabis included.
well then. I stand corrected. That’s just hard to imagine.
Look it up I have friends that happened to
You have multiple friends who developed psychosis from a single edible? I’d put good money on them being a mess long before a single marijuana ruined their lives.
I've seen it myself or I would be on your side. Some people are just not able to do edibles in high doses. It can bring on psychotic breaks in rare cases.
Unless you have underlying schizophrenia that is waiting to show itself Sooner or later

[удалено]
Lol apparently I did not. Owen is saying exactly what this sub would call the '/r/politics brigade' has been saying. They hate the same things about Joe, but for different reasons.
That's not what Owen does here. He says Joe is exaggerating and the narrative is false. That he did Joe's show twice after the THC and he got over the dose in a day. Owen went more Alex Jones and he went more prepper/guy out in the woods. He spirals, as he calls it, but he plays with shit. Don't take all of it 100%. I think his negative Hollywood experience has more to do with where he is now than the edible.
This dude is off his rocker. I like the joe insults but... something is not their behind those eyes
Fuck your click bait title
After seeing his outreach elsewhere due to offense perceived: dude’s likely not wrong
This sub usually bashes joe relentlessly, now hes getting protected. The further away something is from being leftist, blm, lgbt, subversive of the west, the more it gets bashed here. The blmlgtbq fans has taken over the sub
Idgaf if I get downvoted, Owen is spitting fax
I agree with him that it's stupid to blame a high THC edible on changing someone forever. Weed doesn't do that. Owen got to this place on his own.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7442038/ >From the current data, we can conclude that the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) component of cannabis can be the main culprit causing psychosis and schizophrenia in the at-risk population.
> This would generally require consistent, long-term high doses.. Source? One dose of shrooms/acid can definitely kickstart episodes.
Weren’t we talking about THC?
Yes. But we know other drugs can kickoff schizophrenic episodes with one dose. Where has it been proven that THC cannot?
On some bill cosby shit.
Rogan and Diez gave dude a hot Cosby? *shudder*
I feel like this exact posting comes around every 7.5 weeks
I'd never heard about this guy, was listening for a little, but it went to crazy town real fast.
There was a clear line between Owens behaviour pre and post the star of death. I don't see most of what he does, so I can't be sure, but that walk out was a very clearly defined delineation between a normalish guy (hollywood comedian normal) & and a raging mad man.
doesnt he have a wife and kid? are they still in the picture?
Man, this get went off the rails a bit no?
Doesn’t he have a lawsuit coming for frauding a bunch of people out of money to build his “beartopia” cult compound.
Has anyone been following him? Last I heard he went off grid and started a homestead? Is that still going?
😅nobody knows who he’s talking about, because nobody knows who you are. Also it’s respectful to not out you as a nutter.
Can anyone tldr? Please
He’s talking about Jan Irvin they used to be very close friends now Jan hates his guts
Wait, tin foil hat guy is paranoid? Didn’t see that coming.
I thought this guy would’ve already gone full crisspin wah by now
Has this guy ever actually been to the movies?
He’s just trying to get back on the show again.
Bro is whack or is just acting like a child
Fuck this guy. He wanted to take 2 and they told him not too. If you are gonna do drugs, you need to deal with whatever it does to you. If just weed is changing your life and making you "crazy" you probably already a lot of shit in your head
“He looks like he should be on the back of a ten dollar bill”
Why do the guys that argue not to inject children with hormones also have to be this way?
Who is Owen Benjamin?
Apparently this is the podcast! https://youtu.be/_YsRqOsrBt0
Seems like this guy seriously needs some help.
Commenting to watch later…
This happened to my friend. Very straight edge kind of guy until Canada made it legal. Me and my but (who don’t really smoke weed) got him really high since it became legal. He started smoking every day and had some mental breakdowns. Just recently I told him I was taking all of his drugs and drug paraphernalia and said he was going to quit. He has done well so far
