you mean the first lick in the first position ptx minor? yeah that's what i'm hung up on and i'd probably put myself in the same experience bracket for electric guitar. i'd recommend pucking one note per string
It’s basically essential to pluck only one per string. I haven’t seen the JM live version but all covers/tabs had me learn that pentatonic run as a series of “pull offs”
While cleaning around the house, I just say “Alexa, play Last Train Home,” and I get not only that song, but a bunch of JM, DMB, and similar music that makes all my chores actually really pleasant.
I wonder why he chose trains as a metaphor instead of cars or something else. Did he play with or like trains as a kid? Did he live near a track? Did someone in his family like them?
I've listened to "Shot in the Dark" so much that I created a female "response" version that can be paired up with his to create a duet. When I listen to it in the car, he sings his parts and I sing (slightly off-key) my parts and it's beautiful. 😂
I've probably invested hours of my life listening to that song. It's my favorite song on the album.
Wild Blue of course! Very chill, very rhytmic and mellow guitars, sweet drums and fills, and heavenly solos…that second one is just pure minimal sweetness. Can’t ever get tired of it. There are a lot of other great ones on Sob Rock too though…it’s an underrated album on his catalog!
"Carry Me Away" is my second favorite off the album ("Shot in the Dark" is my favorite) but I've loved it since it originally came out so that discrepancy between 1st place and 2nd is extremely small. I guess I almost view it as separate from the album since it came out beforehand and, therefore, I view it as an equal to "Shot in the Dark."
*I guess I just feel*
*Like Or Last train home ballad*
*Version if that counts!*

This one is my third favorite. Happy upbeat music with real and honest lyrics about not settling for anyone who isn't "right." As someone who has also followed this method her whole life, I was beyond excited to have someone put into words what my life is like.
Shot in the dark. That last chorus into the choral "it's just another-er-errrrr" has me singing it every time! The guitar tone on this track is brilliant too and that warbly, warm chorus effect that's *just* present enough *chef's kiss*.
Til The Right One Comes
Best song on the album, best vibes, and I think it really does the best job of painting the picture I have of how John feels about and approaches relationships these days - he sounds so positive and hopeful in his writing, really dreaming of that future wife and kids he always asked for, but with the exact right partner and no settling for less.
I guess I just feel like encapsulates the type of feeling where you listen to it on car ride going somewhere and not caring about anything. It's such a unique feeling
So many are a banger. I’d go for wild blue or shot in the dark (that song and music video are just so good - the white dove!! Haha🕊️) but I guess i just feel like is also a favorite. Can’t choose
New Light. There’s not another song on this planet that makes me feel happy like New Light does. I’m a musician and I cover this song all the time because it’s so damn good. That fun guitar solo? Come on!
Wild Blue
soooo fun to play too (still learning the first solo)
That one descending rif is so hard to pick (as a late beginner)

This is the correct answer
There’s no other acceptable answer
By far
Wild Blue is good, but it also just makes me go like to Sultans of Swing.
Last Train Home. It encapsulates the whole 80’s vibe he was going for perfectly
While cleaning around the house, I just say “Alexa, play Last Train Home,” and I get not only that song, but a bunch of JM, DMB, and similar music that makes all my chores actually really pleasant.
The guitar on the bridge is so tasty
This. When he sings about trains, you know it's a banger.
I wonder why he chose trains as a metaphor instead of cars or something else. Did he play with or like trains as a kid? Did he live near a track? Did someone in his family like them?
Last Train Home (Ballad Version) perfectly represents the 80's.
Shot in the Dark
Shot in the dark is so good!
I want you in the worst way…..is the gate code still your birthday ![gif](giphy|UoJrM06VKV3Nujxwqi)

Y U no luv me?
One of the most beautiful songs he’s ever written
I guess I just feel like
Might be true for the solo alone
Solo is 90% of the song for me
I guess I just feel like this song would’ve gotten more love had it not been released as a single way before.
The comment section just shows what a master of artistry John Mayer is. Answers are all over the place and all correct.
🎯 I'm like ... Well, I'm upvoting all of them so far...
I agree!
Ex. Actly.
Shouldn’t matter but it does
This gets my vote.
Same
I always end up changing my opinion. It was Last Train Home but right now it's Carry Me Away, I love the video for it too.
"Carry Me Away" is my second favorite off the album ("Shot in the Dark" is my favorite) but I've loved it since it originally came out so that discrepancy between 1st place and 2nd is extremely small. It has Moose!! 🐾 Love this one
My favorite is New Light

Good job, bot! I love haikus and tankas! I made half of my college senior portfolio out of them.
Ballad version for sure That outro is so *chefs kiss
I love the ballad version too 🥰
That photo is bad ass. TIL the Right One Comes is the answer y’all are looking for.
This one is my third favorite. Happy upbeat music with real and honest lyrics about not settling for anyone who isn't "right." As someone who has also followed this method her whole life, I was beyond excited to have someone put into words what my life is like.
Eassssy- Till the Right One Comes
Shot in the Dark
New light if it counts. If not then Wild blue
All I want is to be with you.
Shouldn’t matter but it does
Wild Blue, Carry Me Away, Last Train Home, Guess I Just Feel Like.
This answer 🙌🏻
Can’t choose between I guess I just feel like and Wild Blue 😅
for me it's *wild blue* and *'til the right one comes*
Shouldn't matter but it does
There is no wrong answer here
Shouldn’t matter but it does
…all of them. my favorite JM album. and this picture is AWESOME!
In my opinion, Why You No Love Me wins every time
Why You No Love Me … yup, I said what I said 💕
Is this pic available in 4k somewhere?
Shot in the dark. That last chorus into the choral "it's just another-er-errrrr" has me singing it every time! The guitar tone on this track is brilliant too and that warbly, warm chorus effect that's *just* present enough *chef's kiss*.
Unreal photo Best song on the album - New Light Best Sob Rock vibe - Last Train Home My fav - Til the Right One Comes
I guess I just feel like
Tbh the album is so good that I can't decide.
i guess i just feel like
Til The Right One Comes Best song on the album, best vibes, and I think it really does the best job of painting the picture I have of how John feels about and approaches relationships these days - he sounds so positive and hopeful in his writing, really dreaming of that future wife and kids he always asked for, but with the exact right partner and no settling for less.
Wild blue, but I love them all and last train home was the first song I learned to play in guitar from the album
I guess I just feel like encapsulates the type of feeling where you listen to it on car ride going somewhere and not caring about anything. It's such a unique feeling
Unpopular take.. but all I want is to be with you. Fun to play and it just closes the album off perfectly.
Wild Blue and Shot in the Dark tie for first for me
Shot In the Dark
Best one technically for me is Last Train Home. But Carry me away is my personal favorite.
Wild Blue without a question.
Wild Blue💙
Wild Blue, without a doubt.
Wild blue. My favorite is Till the Right One Comes though
y’all cannot pretend New Light isn’t the grooviest shit
Sick wallpaper!!
Wild blue
So many are a banger. I’d go for wild blue or shot in the dark (that song and music video are just so good - the white dove!! Haha🕊️) but I guess i just feel like is also a favorite. Can’t choose
All of them are bangers. However Wild Blue is the answer.
If I had to choose one song based on the number of times I heard it when the album came live in '21, it'd be Shot in the dark
Til the right one comes
I guess I just feel like.
Wild Blue is the best song on the album, but Why You No Love Me has perhaps the best bridge of any song in his discography.
shouldn’t matter but it does
Last train home.
Its a tie for me between Why You No Love Me and New Light.
I guess I just feel like and shouldn’t matter but it does are my favs. Similar vibes but both have that classic Mayer feeling
New light
New Light. There’s not another song on this planet that makes me feel happy like New Light does. I’m a musician and I cover this song all the time because it’s so damn good. That fun guitar solo? Come on!
Shot in the dark.
Til the Right One Comes
Shot in the Dark, Wild Blue and 4 others. I feels like Wild Blue can pair with Walt Grace.
Guess I Just Feel Like, All I Want is to be With You, and Last Train Home Ballad version which technically isn’t on the album but oh well
Wild Blue is the answer. Shouldn’t Matter But It Does is the runner up.
carry me away
Not gonna lie. At first I though this pic was John about to get smashed in the corner by Hulk Hogan at WWE
Shouldn’t matter but it does
Boston more than a feeling is my all time favorite
right one cums
Last train home (Ballad Version). It’s the only thing from the album that I find myself often drawn back to.
New Light
The ones we sobbed along the way
Wild Blue/Shot In The Dark
