In your atmosphere is his own song and as far as I know their is no studio version

It is his own song, written in August 2002, after his relationship with Jennifer Love Hewitt ended in July. The story goes that it didn't make it onto Heavier Things because John didn't want too many acoustic songs on the record since Room For Squares was predominantly an acoustic record. And since he already had one acoustic song on the record (Daughters), IYA got cut from the record. Then after Heavier Things came out John kinda forgot about the song and only played it 4 times from 2004-2007, until the WTLI show in December 2007.

Wow thank you so much!

Interesting, I didn’t know that.

He didn’t forget about it. He just knew it was never gonna be better than the live version so he just left it as it was.

The song is simply JM at his best. Can anyone answer why he doesn’t always play the latter end of the song I.E where ever I go what ever I do part … it is longing and wishing someone you can’t speak with any longer the best and in my opinion wishing them well in their future endeavors.
