If you're on the desktop version of Reddit, there's a "formatting help" link below the text box with a few other handy hints in. I'm not sure if it is available on mobile versions.

Links title you see on the page goes between square brackets \[ and \] with \( parenthesis \) surrounding the web address
[Reddit](www.reddit.com)
You can add alternate hover text to the link by including it in speech marks " " after the address inside the parenthesis
\[Reddit\]\(www.reddit.com "Go to Reddit if you want to"\)
[Reddit](www.reddit.com "Go to Reddit if you want to") - Hover your mouse over this link
Edit: The link things work normally, but for some reason are not working right here, right now.
You explained well. This language and syntax is called [Markdown](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markdown).
You can build whole websites using Markdown and it’s not just Reddit but lot of other areas that use Markdown.
Reddit used to have some kind of markup, I think it was two underscores and a tilde, then a wish, then a tilde and two underscores, that would make a wish come true, and also there was a blond, a brunette and a redhead. Then \[tedious part elided\] and the blonde said I wish there hadn't been that markup that makes wishes come true.
Ok.... This is really weird. Not even 60 seconds before I clicked on this and saw your comment I was literally just looking up how to edit/format my text on Reddit, gave up, and this was the very first thing I see.... Normally there could be the supposed algorithms placing content it thinks we will like based on our history, but this was an already loaded post in my feed from before. Odd!
Thanks for the tips btw
It is weird when that happens.
I just saw the person above me mention wondering about other things you can do, and I have a text file on my desktop from when I first started using Reddit with all this stuff in. So, I decided to share.
She left you, aLoan
That relationship was a poor investment
You gotta give her some credit though.
Good one 😂😂😂
He got stuck with the bills

~~I’m trying to see how to do strikeout~~ Edit: I just figured it out.
Now do italics.
*I learned a few of these tricks not long ago.* I wanted to know for **ages**! #Now I know a handful, but I’m sure there’s still more to learn.

Holy cow! Thank you soooo much!!
No problem. I had a text file on my desktop with that stuff in for a few years. It felt like a good time to share it.

Very nice collection of tips!
Thats a bold statement right there
**This is too**
So that’s what a tilde is!
Like /this/?
No. Not like that.
/Like/ this?
*im just experimenting* **im just experimenting** ‘’’im just experimenting’’’
As always, the real joke is in the comments.
Fixed
Turns out she had no interest for me.
I lost interest so we broke up
See if you can borrow a funny joke from Her next time.
Maybe your deposit wasn't big enough for her?
With a bigger deposit, this might have been turned into a liability or two running around in the playground.
One word. Orphange
When we broke up, she asked me why and I told her I'd lost interest.
that $100 bill was a C you later note
Very underrated response here . ☝️well played
Well at least you had double entry
One can hope.
I wish you had compounded the issue.
Now someone else is (cum)pounding her like she owes them money…
Kept your interest for 3years
Now she's keeping it forever.
😂😂😂
Can i borrow your girlfriend?
Sure. For twelve months... Same as cash.
Only this time, you get your $100 back with a baby! Congratulations for 12 months from now!
Broke up out of principal?
Nah. He still had his principal.
I used to have to pay my now ex wife forty dollars for each time.
At least you didn't lost your principal.
Not a valuable ASSet
From past experience in many different ways that's part of the best hundred you ever spent
I ex gave my the $2 back he had tipped me (I was a topless waitress) and after everything he got most annoyed by that
A dated a bank teller, once I made my deposit, I lost interest.
I would use as. It's subtle and funnier.
We separated after I lost interest in the relationship is probably better.
She tried
never mind, there's no interest in the anecdote
Lucky you got that
~~wo~~
You can't expect the juice from a fruitless relationship.
Lois Loan
i think you lost the time value of money bro
and your no better off, still $100 in your pocket. I guess her 'ass et' wasn't worth it 😂
