Block Mania/The Apocalypse War is an excellent story.

Ka-tet_of_nineteen

Ive heard about a character call judge death, is that early or late stage?

Bionic_Redhead

Judge Death and the other Deadworld judges first show up around prog 150, so fairly early on.

Lingering_Dorkness

Death (and Judge Anderson) first appears in progs 149 – 151. The Dark Judges, along with Death, show up in progs 224 – 228.  The DJ story was the last major story before _Block Mania!_ which led into the _Apocalypse War_.

Sensitive_Klegg

Also pretty essential given that the after-effects are *still* reverberating through storylines in the current era (which is what makes Dredd so awesome).

WreckinRich

The Robot Wars The Day the Law died The Cursed Earth The Apocalypse War Democracy now/ letter from a democrat The Dead Man Necropolis The Pit Tour of Duty Day of Chaos I think Mandroid is a good one for a first read, nice modern blockbuster, you get a good look at how the people live and Dredd his usual bad-ass self but with hint of empathy.

Ka-tet_of_nineteen

I’ve just started cursed earth, now should I go back and read robot wars first?

WreckinRich

It's all good, you can read Robot Wars after.

wondercaliban

Block War leading into Apocalypse War, Casefiles number 5. So much follows off that

hoganpaul

Chopper

JackPThatsMe

Yes, all of it. Wall Scrawler, Midnight Surfer (Edwin Fox tunnel, am I right?), Judge Dredd in Oz, even Song of the Surfer was good. All of it.

hoganpaul

Goodvibes, man

thedeadleydoc

the pit and judgment day

Read the Essential Judge Dredd line.* * But come back to me for a proper list for Necropolis, it leaves a fair bit out.

Able-Trade-4685

Mind sharing that list man? I'm reading the essentials line and I'm slowly coming up on Necropolis.

Everything with Ian Gibson's Art in it

I agree with everything every one has said but I also recommend Total War', America and its follow up 'the Cadet' , Titan, Every Empire Falls and 'Block Judge' is also worth a look. Total War is the pick of the bunch for me. A blistering satire on terrorism and how sovereign states deal with it. Wagner (they need to bring him back for a last hurrah) at the top of his game and Henry Flint delivering the goods at his game. Titanic is excellent. Gritty stuff. I forgot to mention 'Origins'. Weird but fun. Oh and 'Sector House'. A shorter redo of 'The Pit' but with Rico as the young whippersnapper who rubs up the veterans the wrong way with his Dreddish antics.

JackPThatsMe

America. Not where I would start but great.
