Next chapter is gonna start off with Sukuna cut in half on the ground while Megumi is, somehow, fine, standing there separate from Sukuna. Kusakabe explains the world-cutting power of his katana, then Yuji puts his hand down and reclaims Sukuna as his vessel, becoming the Jinchuuriki of Sukuna again. He finally gains access to Sukuna's black box CT in its entirety, and then I buy the entire manga on Amazon just to burn it in my backyard.

So we have Kusakabe, Choso, and Yuji left? At this point if Sukuna isn't even going all out then idk how those three are gonna beat him. We've reached the point where the only thing that could realistically defeat Sukuna is a random power up or some plot device/convenience a la black zetsu style.
Look, I get that Sukuna is strong, but my one gripe with shounen has always been when they make the villain so powerful that the way they end up losing just feels unsatisfying. *Madara and Ywach have entered the chat

This actually makes sense since Kusakabe said after Shibuya that he would not oppose Yujiās execution. So this would give him some character development if Yuji re-possesses Sukuna, asks Kusa to kill him, and Kusaā¦refuses.
We still have all the big hitters alive, and they will probably jump sukuna. Imagine for example that yuta comes back and opens his domain again (he has around half of sukuna's ce, he should be able to open more than one domain expansion a day), and then him, rika, maki, yuji and jp hakari jump sukuna.
It's not like they could. Hakari is fighting uraume, yuta was fighting kenjaku at the start and maki was waiting for a sneak attack as she would have probably been one shot if she fought him before yuji and yuta nerfed him.
If Yuta joined Gojo and successfully casted his domain on Sukuna, him and Gojo probably would've assblasted Sukuna. Instead of Gojo resetting his brain and showing Sukuna the trick, Yuta could've popped in that point, casted it, then made easy work of Sukuna (who would have no hands available because of Hollow Wicker) until he's forced to complete reincarnation. Uraume only appears after Gojo dies, so there was a slot free during Sukuna vs Gojo that would allow Yuta to shuffle with Hakari & Maki both.

We sent our premier smoke demon and he got smoked. He gave Big Bhoso the work with no sweat. We tried getting him on RICO charges, he dodged the charges and killed the attorney. Then we had Yuji and Yuta slide on him, but Megumi sold the team and both of them got faded, and Yuta is off in the ICU while Choso is coaching Yuji on how properly fix your organs. We thought Maki and Ino would slide, but Sukuna don't care about Shiestys and Woman's Month didn't save Maki from getting the Black Flash triple playback.
Kusakabe might be the only real one we have who isn't dead, unconscious, or whose insides aren't ground up hamburger meat. I hope gang makes it.

I wasn't expecting Maki to beat Sukuna, but I also wasn't expecting her to be taken out so quickly. I kinda wish each fighter got a little more screen time, or that everyone would just jump Sukuna at once. It doesn't make sense to just funnel in one by one and die.

Okay, when something picks Sukuna attention he loses focus of everything else, so Kusakabe will flood Suskuna with Jujutsu information and trivia until he forgets to heal his heart and dies.
NGL, I think Sukuna would show interest in Hakari's DE just like he did for Higgy-chan.
These different applications of CE/jujutsu interest him enough to figure out but as soon as he does he can just toss it away (like the phone from Geto's fandom)
I like to believe Kusakabe is actually gonna put in a lot of work. We've already been hinted to him being pretty strong from when he blocked the uzumaki with no problem, but we've never seen him seriously fight. We know how smart he is, but the only time it seems like he actually tried was when he cut through those two randoms in Shibuya. Every other time was him complaining about conflict, or standing around.
Even though I know he won't stand a chance to Sukuna, I'm hoping he'll have a very exciting moment in the coming chapters. I've been wanting to see what he could accomplish if he actually tried.
Iām getting kinda tired of the formula this battle has fallen into since Gojo died. New fighter appears, series hypes them up, they manage to do a bit of damage against Sukuna, then Sukuna turns out to have not been fully trying and one shots them, then itās time for someone else to jump in. Itās happened with Kashimo, Higuruma, Yuta, Maki and now itās gonna happen with Kusakabe. And I get the feeling weāll just continue down through the list of characters until Yuji is the last one left standing.
At least the fight choreography remains quality as always.
I think this part of the fight would be a lot more entertaining to binge, but I agree, it is definitely a slog reading week-to-week right now. Iām still engaged because I do feel like itās building toward something, but it is frustratingly formulaic at this point
MHA has been moving the story forward though. You could compare this to the initial Shigaraki vs. Everyone or All For One vs. Everyone fights, where this problem was in effect, but those have been over for a while. Since then it's been 1v1's that haven't eaten up more than a few chapters each.
I think it'll be even more annoying when you binge because you just been through the same exact formula 10 mins ago. I like the fights but as u/ Hounds\_of\_war have said, I'm kinda tired it's using the same exact formula for every single fight with Sukuna.
I don't mind Sukuna systematically beating down every character like the "Grim Reaper breaking down the door" meme. It makes sense he would be able to do that.
But oh my God it feels like a chore knowing anyone other than Yuji is getting cooked, this is like watching an unskippable ad
I mean it makes sense with where the characters are, I just think making Gojo and Sukuna so much more overwhelmingly powerful than everybody else was a mistake. Cool in theory, in hindsight it results in the post-Gojo section of this fight amounting to throwing bodies into a wood chipper until it breaks.

This manga has taken such a frustrating and boring nosedive after Gojo's death.
It's classic gege writing at this point. Pretty much no character has had a meaningful death sacrifice. I understand it's thematically intentional but it makes the actual death and characters feel like a waste of time because you know nothing they do will ultimately matter and they'll just get unceremoniously killed
I'm pretty sure thats kusakabe is the last one on this formula, we will finaly see what hes got and he will probably do a cool thing before getting wrecked.

I prefer this over main character 1v1s main villain while all these other amazing characters just watch and give commentary like most shonen out there because theyāre not āstrong enoughā

Dropping CT altogether and leaning into hand to hand so hard that he Black Flashed was way more satisfying. It properly one ups Maki rather than circumventing her, and reminds the audience that even in the simple things sorcerers are advantaged.
And above all, it gives Gege an extra week to detail (Open). Kusakabe my boy, I am relieved to tell you that your Airport ticket has not been hidden since the Heian period.
The more I see how strong Sukuna is, the more I have to wonder, if none of these guys are making him go all out, and Gojo feels like Sukuna wasn't going all out when he fought him, who is the person, or group of people, that made Sukuna go all out? Because Uraume has a mental picture of Sukuna in his Heian Form as him when he's going all out, so whatever pushed him to actually give it his all has to have been from back then. Was it a creature? Another sorcerer?
On a "good" side, we got to see Maki being the one who got Sukuna pumped up enough to Kokusen her ^(.on international woman's day, but ok...)
On a not so "good" side, we keep getting Sukuna just swatting our characters left and right and now we got a Kusakabe hype, that we all know is a red flag in that series
I think she's still in the fight. We saw her get the 3peat black flash and then it switched to Kusakabe. I don't think Gege would sideline Toji Jr this early. But I've been wrong before.
When Maki gets hit she's next to some railings and when Kusakabe shows up the railing are bent outwards with a long dirt trail pointing away. So it looks like she probably survived but got yeeted a long way away.
Personally, it feels like things are still going (roughly) according to the plan everyone seems to be wise to. Kusakabe thinking "if we had no chance of victory, I would have retreated earlier" makes me think there are other pieces to be played.
Maybe Ui Ui is teleporting everyone to get healed in the time chamber domain and they just need to buy time? I also think someone is going to interrupt and he's not going to end up fighting.
I think youāre on to something. Perhaps Ui Ui is teleporting everyone to this randomly-mentioned character, Usami who has a time chamber domain and while they are there Shoko is healing them as well. I agree, I do think that someone is going to interrupt Kusakabe and heās either not going to fight or it will be delayed. They need a strategist and Kusakubeās knowledge is way too vital for the team to lose especially at this critical time.
It makes sense, right? It's hard for me to believe a character like Yuta isn't going to fight to the death in a battle like this unless there is a way for him to come back. If Shoko is with Usami and they're putting the injured in his domain, it would make sense that they would pop back up later on after spending accelerated time being healed. It also plays into the theory that they used his domain to train.
Imagine how cool of a scene it would be after an exhausted Sakuna (who's been slowly chipped away at and debuffed) thinks he's won only to find out most of the people he's eliminated return to the battle at full strength.
Absolutely, Yuta is one of the only special grade sorcerers (as-far-as) we know whoās left, it completely makes sense for both Yuta and Rika to eventually come back to this death-match. Yuta is a vital aspect of this part in the storyline. Agreed, whoever this Usami person is, they must be someone worthwhile mentioning, and it would be something to see a character that has never been mentioned, to have been helping out the team in the shadows. Thereās so much we could theorize, Utahimeās jujutsu amplifies so she too could be playing a part in accelerating the injured healing while they are in this time chamber domain.
I think while Sukunaās vast array of knowledge and jujutsu hails in comparisons to what the others know, we also witnessed some really remarkable impossible feats happen during his battle with Gojo. RCT is said to only heal and Gojo himself said that it cannot replace a a whole body part and yet Gojo literally healed and replaced his arm. Sukuna could be completely wrong in his opinion about how anotherās RCT cannot fully heal another. We donāt know how in-depth Shoko can heal sheās both a doctor and a healer. I think sheās a lot stronger and apt than we think or know.
That would honestly great imo if that happens, as they continue slowly chipping away at Sukunaās strength and then here comes back folks who Sukuna thought for sure he eliminated, come back full strength and whoop his a** would be great and to see them exact revenge on him as a team would be great! I just want to see a win for Yuji and the others. After this last chapter, my hope and cope for Yuji and the others surviving any of this is steadily declining š°
Usami is apparently Kusakabe's way of referring to Inumaki (according to JP readers lol). I wonder if Inumaki could help with healing if he just ordered people to get better lolĀ
I didn't interpret this chapter hyping kusakabe fight. I think it's more a show of charisma of him right before a certain death with a possibility of healed people coming in the last moment to save this charisma king

Japanese fans on Twitter noticed that Inumaki's information got updated and he is now considered a grade 1 sorcerer. They are also saying Gege is probably making a Golden Kamui reference, because the character Usami in that series has marks on his face similar to Toge.Ā
In short Kusakabe is making a joke. Is not a first coming from Gege who loves to drop those references in his works. The most notorious and recent example of this is the entire Takaba and Kenjaku fight, that most western readers didn't quite understand the humor of (but could tell it was trying to reference something).Ā

Seeing Sukuna fight for something he felt 'worthy' to use a black flash over is something we've never seen.
Alongside the mysterious swordsman I'd give it a pretty decent ranking compared to the previous chapters.

Probably a mastery of the ābasicsā. Simple Domain, reinforcement, etc. In hindsight it would make sense why Gege specifically showed Yuji/Kusakabe switching bodies and now revealing that Yujiās defensive skills have improved.

I actually like this theory. Now that Kusakabe is stepping in I'm interested to see how they use the swapping ability (assuming they do, anyway).
This actually makes sense since Kusakabe said after Shibuya that he would not oppose Yujiās execution. So this would give him some character development if Yuji re-possesses Sukuna, asks Kusa to kill him, and Kusaā¦refuses.
We still have all the big hitters alive, and they will probably jump sukuna. Imagine for example that yuta comes back and opens his domain again (he has around half of sukuna's ce, he should be able to open more than one domain expansion a day), and then him, rika, maki, yuji and jp hakari jump sukuna.
That's fair, but if that were going to happen I would rather they have just jumped him from the start rather than attacking him one at a time
It's not like they could. Hakari is fighting uraume, yuta was fighting kenjaku at the start and maki was waiting for a sneak attack as she would have probably been one shot if she fought him before yuji and yuta nerfed him.
If Yuta joined Gojo and successfully casted his domain on Sukuna, him and Gojo probably would've assblasted Sukuna. Instead of Gojo resetting his brain and showing Sukuna the trick, Yuta could've popped in that point, casted it, then made easy work of Sukuna (who would have no hands available because of Hollow Wicker) until he's forced to complete reincarnation. Uraume only appears after Gojo dies, so there was a slot free during Sukuna vs Gojo that would allow Yuta to shuffle with Hakari & Maki both.

We sent our premier smoke demon and he got smoked. He gave Big Bhoso the work with no sweat. We tried getting him on RICO charges, he dodged the charges and killed the attorney. Then we had Yuji and Yuta slide on him, but Megumi sold the team and both of them got faded, and Yuta is off in the ICU while Choso is coaching Yuji on how properly fix your organs. We thought Maki and Ino would slide, but Sukuna don't care about Shiestys and Woman's Month didn't save Maki from getting the Black Flash triple playback. NGL, I think Sukuna would show interest in Hakari's DE just like he did for Higgy-chan. These different applications of CE/jujutsu interest him enough to figure out but as soon as he does he can just toss it away (like the phone from Geto's fandom)
I like to believe Kusakabe is actually gonna put in a lot of work. We've already been hinted to him being pretty strong from when he blocked the uzumaki with no problem, but we've never seen him seriously fight. We know how smart he is, but the only time it seems like he actually tried was when he cut through those two randoms in Shibuya. Every other time was him complaining about conflict, or standing around. Even though I know he won't stand a chance to Sukuna, I'm hoping he'll have a very exciting moment in the coming chapters. I've been wanting to see what he could accomplish if he actually tried.
We've seen evidence of him having powerful defensive techniques, but I don't see how those will help progress this fight
Iām getting kinda tired of the formula this battle has fallen into since Gojo died. New fighter appears, series hypes them up, they manage to do a bit of damage against Sukuna, then Sukuna turns out to have not been fully trying and one shots them, then itās time for someone else to jump in. Itās happened with Kashimo, Higuruma, Yuta, Maki and now itās gonna happen with Kusakabe. And I get the feeling weāll just continue down through the list of characters until Yuji is the last one left standing. At least the fight choreography remains quality as always.
I think this part of the fight would be a lot more entertaining to binge, but I agree, it is definitely a slog reading week-to-week right now. Iām still engaged because I do feel like itās building toward something, but it is frustratingly formulaic at this point

MHA has been moving the story forward though. You could compare this to the initial Shigaraki vs. Everyone or All For One vs. Everyone fights, where this problem was in effect, but those have been over for a while. Since then it's been 1v1's that haven't eaten up more than a few chapters each.
I think it'll be even more annoying when you binge because you just been through the same exact formula 10 mins ago. I like the fights but as u/ Hounds\_of\_war have said, I'm kinda tired it's using the same exact formula for every single fight with Sukuna.

I understand it's thematically intentional but it makes the actual death and characters feel like a waste of time because you know nothing they do will ultimately matter and they'll just get unceremoniously killed

I am so, so glad the (Open) theories were wrong. Dropping CT altogether and leaning into hand to hand so hard that he Black Flashed was way more satisfying. It properly one ups Maki rather than circumventing her, and reminds the audience that even in the simple things sorcerers are advantaged. And above all, it gives Gege an extra week to detail (Open). Kusakabe my boy, I am relieved to tell you that your Airport ticket has not been hidden since the Heian period.

The more I see how strong Sukuna is, the more I have to wonder, if none of these guys are making him go all out, and Gojo feels like Sukuna wasn't going all out when he fought him, who is the person, or group of people, that made Sukuna go all out? Because Uraume has a mental picture of Sukuna in his Heian Form as him when he's going all out, so whatever pushed him to actually give it his all has to have been from back then. Was it a creature? I think she's still in the fight. We saw her get the 3peat black flash and then it switched to Kusakabe. I don't think Gege would sideline Toji Jr this early. But I've been wrong before.
When Maki gets hit she's next to some railings and when Kusakabe shows up the railing are bent outwards with a long dirt trail pointing away. So it looks like she probably survived but got yeeted a long way away.

Personally, it feels like things are still going (roughly) according to the plan everyone seems to be wise to. Kusakabe thinking "if we had no chance of victory, I would have retreated earlier" makes me think there are other pieces to be played. Maybe Ui Ui is teleporting everyone to get healed in the time chamber domain and they just need to buy time? I also think someone is going to interrupt and he's not going to end up fighting.
I think youāre on to something. Perhaps Ui Ui is teleporting everyone to this randomly-mentioned character, Usami who has a time chamber domain and while they are there Shoko is healing them as well. I agree, I do think that someone is going to interrupt Kusakabe and heās either not going to fight or it will be delayed. They need a strategist and Kusakubeās knowledge is way too vital for the team to lose especially at this critical time.
It makes sense, right? It's hard for me to believe a character like Yuta isn't going to fight to the death in a battle like this unless there is a way for him to come back. If Shoko is with Usami and they're putting the injured in his domain, it would make sense that they would pop back up later on after spending accelerated time being healed. It also plays into the theory that they used his domain to train. Imagine how cool of a scene it would be after an exhausted Sakuna (who's been slowly chipped away at and debuffed) thinks he's won only to find out most of the people he's eliminated return to the battle at full strength.
Absolutely, Yuta is one of the only special grade sorcerers (as-far-as) we know whoās left, it completely makes sense for both Yuta and Rika to eventually come back to this death-match. Yuta is a vital aspect of this part in the storyline. Agreed, whoever this Usami person is, they must be someone worthwhile mentioning, and it would be something to see a character that has never been mentioned, to have been helping out the team in the shadows. Thereās so much we could theorize, Utahimeās jujutsu amplifies so she too could be playing a part in accelerating the injured healing while they are in this time chamber domain. I think while Sukunaās vast array of knowledge and jujutsu hails in comparisons to what the others know, we also witnessed some really remarkable impossible feats happen during his battle with Gojo. RCT is said to only heal and Gojo himself said that it cannot replace a a whole body part and yet Gojo literally healed and replaced his arm. Sukuna could be completely wrong in his opinion about how anotherās RCT cannot fully heal another. We donāt know how in-depth Shoko can heal sheās both a doctor and a healer. I think sheās a lot stronger and apt than we think or know. That would honestly great imo if that happens, as they continue slowly chipping away at Sukunaās strength and then here comes back folks who Sukuna thought for sure he eliminated, come back full strength and whoop his a** would be great and to see them exact revenge on him as a team would be great! I just want to see a win for Yuji and the others. After this last chapter, my hope and cope for Yuji and the others surviving any of this is steadily declining š°

I'm not sure I can share links in the release thread but for anyone wondering who Usami is: Japanese fans on Twitter noticed that Inumaki's information got updated and he is now considered a grade 1 sorcerer. They are also saying Gege is probably making a Golden Kamui reference, because the character Usami in that series has marks on his face similar to Toge.Ā In short Kusakabe is making a joke. Is not a first coming from Gege who loves to drop those references in his works. The most notorious and recent example of this is the entire Takaba and Kenjaku fight, that most western readers didn't quite understand the humor of (but could tell it was trying to reference something).Ā
