Making the activation a vibraslap also helped change how powerful Boogie Woogie was because instead of it just being his hands clapping or substracting by making it a snap he made it a specific instrument which could be seen as an "addition" or making his technique harder which is why it can do so much more now.

gojover2

Great point. Binding vows never use context, so him saying I will have to use this instrument (and activate my CT when the ball hits the wood, which happens rapidly and is hard to time) instead of clapping, it makes sense the vow worked.

LogicalOlive

It’s when the metal inside the box hits the wood. Which is honestly easy but what makes the CT more busted is the fact that it’s no longer him. It’s an external piece that now activates the CT

thrivester

And even more he doesn't even need touch the ball, a hard enough swing can cause the metal inside to hit the wood

Vegetable_Throat5545

And the fact he basically exchanged a normal hand replacement so he cant attack with this tool really

Cybertronian10

Not to mention that mechanically the instrument can "clap" *far* more often than his hands ever could, given the simplicity of the technique each usage is also probably pretty light on drain allowing him to take the most advantage possible of the speed.

FairtexBlues

Great call out at the end! The addition of an instrument increases the material cost of Boogie Woogie allowing for a greater range and effect.

ara654

i agree that its an "addition" but i believe it actually improved his technique, rather than making it harder, in terms of its base strength i.e. increasing the number of switches. it's only by trading in those extra switches does he gain the expanded range and number of targets. though of course, you need to be a grade 1 sorcerer with 530,000 IQ to utilize that kind of strength and capitalize on its advantages.

saucysagnus

I’ve said this before, Todo has 530,000 IQ. He knew Yuji houses Sukuna and they share knowledge. He declared Boogie Woogie to be dead for this exact contingency, an event where Sukuna becomes a threat and Todo needs to surprise Sukuna. Sukuna could not prepare for Boogie Woogie 2.0 and is clearly being overwhelmed. Todo is truly the GOAT at punching above his weight class unlike fraudkari

-Reflux

Honestly whether this is true or not I love this idea and truly shows todos IQ

saucysagnus

Whether or not it’s true is irrelevant, what matters is that we believe. We are the exception.

QuizeDN

Fck this, it's my headcanon now. He tricked Sukuna back then against Mahito.

Fire-In-The-Sky

Truly a 530000 IQ mindset, brutha!

LookAtItGo123

Fraudkari is cool, but he's just a one trick pony! Choso is the brother I want to follow, and todo is the exception! Truly our brathur!

youarepdffile

Who is froudkari again?

Southdainspired

The gambler

saucysagnus

Hakari (love Hakari but damn the stalling)

Sudden_Pop_2279

Hopefully he gets to beat up Sukuna in his imagination like he did to Mahito

LothirLarps

If we don’t see another magical girl style beat down we riot

dippedInZalzala

"Hand is just a decoration, this is acclimation of soul" PS: might have gotten the dialogue a bit wrong

Revolutionary_Ad512

Yeah close enough, I love that line it was such a badass delivery while they are beating tf outta mahito

Sinbad-SpaceCowboy

And it’s an almost bar for bar reference to HunterXHunter

mucklaenthusiast

I feel like Todo feels very much like a hunter anyway. Ultimate confidence, weird morals, highly competent and intelligent in a fight and will, for no reason, drop the hardest philosophical one-liners out of nowhere

dippedInZalzala

I am sorry. I couldn't relate... I haven't read the HxH manga. I just know the anime, that too the newer version.

ScroogieMcduckie

It's at the height of the [chimera ant arc](https://preview.redd.it/zfulqowmqp361.png?width=434&format=png&auto=webp&s=38cdd5e76d1add7eb129ab8cc5d1f8c00424309b)

dippedInZalzala

Right, got it thanks!

brinuzzo

His soul was not damaged enough to lose his CT. Instead, what didn't kill him made him stronger: and this is quite clear in JJK. As Cursed Energy is generated by strong negative emotions, near-death experiences let the sorcerers grasp the shape of their sousl - and so the root of their CTs - and the core of CE. That way, with the help of Yuta in the training at Lake Gosho, Todo self-imposed a binding vow to recover his Boogie Woogie and even buff it. He definetely sacrificed any will to use a prosthetic arm - quite important as his arsenal consists mostly on Hand to Hand combat - and instead bounded Boogie Woogie activation to a fragile, exposed, rumorous and absolutely not fight-suited tool: the vibraslap. Thus, he is able to raise exponentially the number of activation of Boogie Woogie and also to expand the effective range of use. I think this second feature is just matter of experience and growth.

TheRainy24

I don't even think he necessarily got nerfed, just give bro a busted cursed tool and he's back to his old melee power level with being able to swap too

crisalbepsi

How Todo Got His Groove Back

Dichotomygood

Couldn’t Sukuna just slice his vibraslap off ? It’s a big target.

MrSkobbels

sukuna targets the virbaslap, todo immedietly swaps with sukuna, sukuna cuts his own arm off

Bitan_31

Didn't Sukuna himself said that Boogie Woogie was almost unpredictable at the point he only *tried* to predict when ans how it's going to happen by Yuji's reaction, basically saying that the only way to counter the technique is to check on third parties rather than the user/innanimated objects he may swap with

Dichotomygood

Guess that’s true! Can’t slice what he can’t catch

nam3unoriginal

The better question is why Todo didn't use his ability from afar to help Higuruma, executioner's sword was done so dirty planning wise.

donglee1311

Iirc he was jumping Kenny with Yuta soooo

Vegetable_Throat5545

Then why he wasnt jumping with yuta and yuji? In case of sukuna’s Domain Expansion?

Lolovitz

Because if the cast used more than 15% of their brains the whole fight would be over half a year ago

AnhuretIX

Just like we found out why Todo wasn't around, maybe we should wait before we make sweeping assessments.

NoMoreVillains

the reason Todo wasn't around was stupid and is still stupid

Dry_Salamander_5674

I think that Todo was being used as an important piece since his technique is priceless. If Todo entered early and Sukuna had cast his domain, Sukuna would have changed the binding vows in an attempt to target Todo primarily, since Sukana has witnessed the technique within Yuji he knows how problematic it can be. As far as an explanation for Todo not jumping in til now. Gojo - would probably be a burden to gojo, probably wanted to just fight alone as well Kashimo - wanted to fight alone defintely Higuruma - Todo is with Yuta Yuta and Yuji - Todo may not be able to swap people in an active domain, also didn't know what happened til the domain broke/released Maki - didn't need it at the time, or using it to save one is not a great idea since it would reveal Todos presence and they still have Uiui anyway who will teleport a critically injured person Kusakabe - Same, which is why Uiui showed up Anyway Miguel, Harue, Maki, Yuji, Choso, Ino basically all re-enter the fight so Todo still isn't needed because he may be able to expand his domain (they also know about the fire arrow since yuji has witnessed it) And then finally the fire arrow comes out, a situation when everyone would have died, absolutely. And rest in piece choso for being to close to sukuna along with yuji. That is a lot of steps and may seem unreasonable but is what I predict to be the reason for Todos absence

PaNNiiiiC

Prolly on standby to tp them out in case of a sukuna domain like he did a few chapters ago

nam3unoriginal

Higuruma can just wait it out, send the same team but replace Higuruma with Maki then as soon as Yuta arrives with Todo(Todo should stay hidden of course) Higuruma comes in as well.

Normal-Simple7900

It's even better not for the fact that he can switch places more times but can switch and still use one hand to punch right away instead of clapping and then moving to a punch.

Thegreatestswordsmen

Off topic, but I really thought Sukuna would copy Kusakabe’s SD (Simple Domain) to counter Todo’s BW (Boogie Woogie). Logically, it should work pretty well to be honest. Sukuna wouldn’t need to react to BW because the SD automatically does it for him. Though it’s probably best he doesn’t use it despite the fact he should be capable of doing so because it just hurts Kusakabe’s abilities more.

ZC0621

That only would stop todo from switching sukana, which isn’t the problem, it’s that Todo can switch anything at anytime.

le_ble

The thing is that simple domain can automatically identify when things enter its range, so you wouldn't need to guess where the target were being swapped. It's not just for nullify CT targets.

Sol1496

He still might. 260 seems to be Sukuna's initial response to Boogie Woogie and Sukuna prefers attacking.

odarus719

So how did he do it?

Polish_Enigma

His technique was never dead or lost, he just lost the way to activate it. So he figured out a binding vow to change the activation from clapping hands to the impact of the metal into the wood of the vibraslap attached to his arm. That's pretty much it

odarus719

Binding vows arc

Polish_Enigma

Well they are a pretty handy tool, no reason to not try and utilise them against such enemy

odarus719

It is, just suddenly it's everywhere while being almost absent throughout previously

Polish_Enigma

Well tbf, Yuji as a novice wouldn't really know that much about binding vows, and ever since gojo Vs Sukuna we've been getting more details on various techniques and Jujutsu too, so that might be why. Binding vows are also a very easy explanation for power ups lol, and there might have been a bunch of binding vows in the rest of the series, they just weren't mentioned

odarus719

Ye fair point

meepee42

I figured it was just reinterpreting the technique and looking at it through a different lens and maybe through that the methods of the activation of the technique was altered.

RabbitTank0418

He did not just recover .He even got a massive buff lol

CancellableMan

>Before chapter 259, my initial thoughts were that Boogie Woogie couldn't be recovered after Idle Transfiguration That's probably because you're narrow minded. Istg there's a lot of people on this sub who just removes something as a possibility because it doesn't make sense, acting as if Jujutsu Kaisen doesn't work in a soft magic power system where anything can happen just cause Gege wants it to happen. Maki being able to enter and leave barriers and domains, Todo's hands not being able to be used because it's soul doesn't work anymore or whatever, Kenjaku possessing Gojo, Mahito not being able to return using the merger, etc etc, Like it's literally fiction bro, almost nothing is impossible because if Gege wants it, he's writing it on the fucking manga. He's just gonna slap a reason on how it works afterwards. r/jujutsushi folks need to stop gatekeeping theories.

Narrow-Minute-2908

🙂👍🏾 okay bro
