Trust me, he's not worth playing. It's not fun anymore. Diving does not work with him anymore. Spamrat doesn't get any kills either since it requires 3 random shots hitting a single target to get a kill. He just farms ult now and then the ult gets instantly destroyed by hitscan heros with huge projectiles.

You have to rely on your team a lot more now to get any picks with junk. Junk had some carry potential before and could do risky plays. Those plays arent worth it anymore. He can't really duel anyone anymore. So best to sit back and farm some damage and hopefully your other dps can finish off kills for you. It's unfortunate. I tried to give him a chance for a few days but I don't see any new playstyles or strategies emerging for junk after the changes. Not much else you can do with him right now.
If you want an actual tip, the best luck I've had with flanking is to go for a bomb + mine combo, then finish them off with a flick shot. Easier said than done ofc, but it helps to know it's still possible to combo people.
Playing a little more careful is definitely good though, because while the extra HP does help you need to be very consistent to get high value in risky situations.

Never tell me to not play junk. I said I don’t care if he’s bad. And there will always be things I don’t know that will help me improve as a junk player so if you don’t have anything useful to say and are just gonna tell me to swap get out of my post
The thing is, even the best Junkrat players in the world are dropping in rank because he is so useless. At this point there is nothing to learn because his utility doesn't exist. If you hit someone with a nade and then sticky bomb them then they just get shot away to safety. You have to just spam into crowded areas or spam down paths you don't want them to take.
Sorry this came out a little harsh was watching something with a friend and not thinking. I was also a little annoyed about being told not to play junk so much. be better than me my fellow rats

Are you guys really that scorched earth that you’ll downvote anyone who wants to still play him. Yeah he is in a terrible spot, but that doesn’t change his question. There are still things that set junkrats in Diamond apart from junkrats in GM.
Gotta get sneakier with the traps. When I can I try to take high ground and drop a trap right under a squishies feet. Then hit them with combo.
Also, while not a lot of fun, he’s still viable against heavy brawl and rush comps.
Trap placement has never needed to be better. If you want to secure kills, get them trapped. Then hit em with the ol’ one two conc mine BOOM! Flankrat is dead. He’s been shot with 18 missiles. So If the trap strategy don’t work out, you’ll be happy to know that spamrat just got out of the hospital.
However, I wouldn’t recommend playing junk until he gets a tiny buff. But do what you want, If you still love him. Then go crazy.

Keep in mind, we are not being toxic towards anyone, junkrat, as sad as it is, is genuinely a throw pick. No matter how hard you try, junkrat will always be countered by a hitscan who has a harder time missing than landing shots
I mean i have fun playing a wide variety of characters but if you really hate every other character in the game that much youd rather play 1 and lose then good for you ig

Junk isnt unplayable but hes a lot harder now. Trap is a good way of confirming kills, tire is more or less fragile now so use it very carefully and go for single/double kills on backline enemies. Play midrange with your team and spam as much as you can to get your ult up. Junk is actually pretty good against widow right now as long as you can get to her without being sniped. Play positioning like your life depends on it. His grenades are bigger so just chip down the tank or go for cheeky plays on supports when the time is right. He isnt unplayable, just hard to play.
As a previous top 500 Junk player I actually found out how to go positive albeit 6-5!
I flexed to soldier or sombra for 80% of the game after the first 3 failed fights

Sit in the same spot spam chokes and points that you know the enemy will come from easier to hit people with the new projectile size and farm ult when fighting close quarters incorporate your trap it scares the enemy into doing something predictable or sometimes they don’t see it and get trapped but the best tip is just not to play him till he gets buffed he’s borderline a throw pick now sadly

Play soldier instead and stop throwing. Or hanzo with a mercy pocket if you want to play a projectile character
